Well, I started this thread because another one was drifting this way. I believe this is a subject worthy of discussion in its own thread. My personal view is that no, they should not. They have not earned the title in any sense of the word. A true Military person acts with discipline and dignity, they don't strut, threaten and bully. These are the exact opposite actions of a true Military professional. That doesn't even begin to touch upon the aspects of training, experience and knowledge required to be considered a "warrior" in the true sense of the word. As an interesting aside, I've never heard a professional Military person refer to themselves as a warrior. I think if someone had we would have laughed them out of the room. I stuck this in Provincial Politics because the Mohawks currently only practice their nonsense in two Provinces, Quebec and Ontario.

Mexicans coming to Canada
AngusThermopyle replied to Topaz's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Actually thats a question I've been asking about all the illegals we get here. I think the answer lies with appeasment. It's the only way to shut the bleeding heart crowd up. Even that doesn't work though, they never shut up, just demand more sympathy for every mongrel on the planet. -
Quebec bars dentist for failing French test
AngusThermopyle replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Have you ever gone to Quebec and tried to use English with government employee's there? Good luck, you usually just get a blank look, then they rapidly rattle of something in French and you are no further ahead. If you want an English speaker to assist or serve you its like looking for a needle in a haystack. Thats one reason I don't go to that Province anymore, amongst a few others. -
Exactly. Many seem to think that if its stated by Natives then its gospel. All questions of outright falsehoods aside, oral tradition and primitive accounting methods are notoriously unreliable. As has been seen time and time again these methods become contaminated and inaccurate due to the passing of time alone. At root they all depend on someone telling someone else something. As you can see the very concept is flawed as it relies upon the spoken word passed from one to another in order to convey meaning. a meaning that more often than not becomes perverted by the perceptions or prejudices of the one saying it. I'm sure everyone is aware of the old experiment. Take a group of people, tell one of them something, tell them to pass it on to the next. By the time it gets to the last person it usually bears very little resemblance to what was originally said.

Most certainly not, you also require years of intensive beer guzzling to hone that fine warrior physique.

They are Bozo's, a bunch of fools who grant themselves a title with no basis in fact. It takes a hell of a lot more to make a warrior than just a childish desire to be seen as such. A set of used combats from an Army surplus store does not a warrior make. It takes years of training and discipline to form an effective fighting force, not just strutting around proclaiming yourself to be such. Combat is another component of the process, one I believe these so called "warriors" to be sadly lacking in. You appear to believe that I equate all Natives to be one and the same as the clown school known as Mohawk Warriors, I dont. As I've stated before, some are very respectable and good people to know. Don't expect me to give even a moments respect to some self proclaimed Jokers who's entire modus operandi is based upon myth-information. Sorry, cant do it. I spent a good portion of my life in the company of actual real warriors, not toy soldiers.

Maybe because the majority of Canadians don't want him in Canada. Do you personally believe he would be a positive addition to Canadian society?

What I find strange is that these Bozo's consider Oka to be a great victory, some victory. Our guys were under express orders to minimize damage to the Mohawks. I bet for all there exceptional "woodcraft" they didn't know our boys were watching them from the trees. Amazing how our guys can disappear once they put their Ghillie suits on. As everyone knows, we have some of, if not the best snipers in the world.

I agree, it amazes me how some people think that everyone will accept their beliefs. In my travels I've encountered others who hold fanatical beliefs, they very seldom, if ever, change those beliefs. The bottom line is that Khadr is an established enemy of the west and western values. Still, maybe we should start shipping these terrorist goofs over here so we can "rehabilitate" them. On the other hand I think one of the Khadr's has renounced his Islamic Fundamentalist roots. I don't know if the young one ever will though.

I don't believe any reasonable person would deny that there are questions to be resolved relating to shady deals, thats pretty much a given. I think what people object to is the methods being employed by Natives. People are tired of the violence and destruction exhibited, the "I'm above the law" attitude. The boasts of invincibility from these thugs. It's easy to be invincible when no one is allowed to touch you. I used to be sympathetic toward the natives cause but because of this sort of behaviour I no longer am. Ridiculous demands such as they make ("give us a trillion dollars") tend to alienate people in hurry.

I thought it was a steel bar. Actually a piece of wood is a blunt instrument. This statement of yours is pure conjecture, nothing more. Convenient that it serves to bolster your point with the use of absolutely no facts. Once again pure conjecture. I don't know about the States but Canada does not employ the Mohawk toy soldiers in any capacity. Go ahead and disagree, I know you will. Once again I will repeat, I did 20 years and six tours, not once did I encounter a Mohawk or ever hear of one in the training system. quite frankly I doubt many of them could meet the requirements, one of which is a grade twelve education. What about the Ghurkas? How bout the SAS? Or maybe the foreign Legion? I could go on but I don't see much point since you'll just deny it all. You guys really get off on this myth of Mohawk invincibility don't you. The fact is that if these ya-ya's went up against a modern well trained military force they'd have a snowflakes chance in hell of survival. (edited to add a quote I forgot to add)

That is a huge assumption on your behalf, getting a little testy are we? Look back over your posts, quite often you contradict yourself and then excuse it with a specious rationalization. Now, you can answer this. How am I defaming anyone by asking you to clarify a point of what you have said? Perhaps you should learn the definition of "defame". Perhaps you would prefer that I continue with an unclear picture of what you are trying to say rather than ask you for clarification? Perhaps you should grow up a little and learn how to engage in civil discourse before you flap your gums.

From your statement it appears the Government has made an offer relating to four claims. Do these four claims encompass the entire Haldimand Tract? Or are more in dispute? If so the Government has not validated the entire claims/Haldimand question at all, just four claims.

Canada ripped for opposing UN declaration
AngusThermopyle replied to jennie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Without proof and a hard fast undisputed decision thats about as meaning full as a child grabbing all the toys and shouting "mine, mine". Now I think about it thats a pretty apt analogy. -
I'm sorry Jennie, you have me a little confused, so I'm afraid I have to ask you another question in order to dispell my confusion. At various times you've refered to the people at this site as rogues, acting without Band sanction. You've said the Band has asked them to leave, but they wont. An equal or greater amount of times you've stated that they were youths doing site security. So this is what my confusion arises from. Were they "Rogues" or were they "youthfull site security? Or perhaps they were "Youthfull rogue sanctioned site security". Hmmm, bit of a conundrum don't you think?

I don't know if this particular point is relevant to land claims, but it most certainly is in respect to the question of Sovereignty. I don't know how proficient the Six Nations are in the management and administrative aspects of providing a working internal infrastructure as a major component of a Sovereign Nation. I do know however that in the local in which I live we have the two largest reserves in North America. The regular routine on these Reserves would be comical if it wasn't so ridiculous. The reserve goes bankrupt. An outside Manager is brought in, he straightens out the mess. The natives fire him once things are running smoothly again, awarding his job to one of their own. A year later they are bankrupt again, they bring in an outside manager, and so on and so on. It's roughly a two year cycle. It's starting to bite them in the ass now though. People don't want to work for them because they know they'll be fired once they've cleaned up the mess. In fact one of them just fired their "Whitey" manager a few months ago, that gives them roughly 12 months (I'm being generous) before they have to look for someone to straighten out the mess again. If this situation is indicative of the norm for Native management techniques then capability in this respect becomes very important in relation to the idea of Sovereignty.

It's about time something was done. It's also a start but there's still a long way to go before the rabble is sorted out. Of course the usual voices will be heard proclaiming the "unfairness" of this action. For myself I'm glad to see even this small demonstration of the rule of law being utilized.

Ahhh! I see! It's o'kay though to blabber on about how superior Native culture is. I get it now. Even though those blatherings have pretty much nothing at all to do with the actual facts. Okay, I'll just be accepting of the revisionist truth. It's true, Native life was a pure Utopian existence before the arrival of the white Devils. I love the double standards I see you and Posit trotting out constantly. Oh, by the way. I would venture that I know just as much about my heritage as you do of yours, most likely a sh*t load more actually.
