As a vegetarian I have always said that I have a lot more respect for farmers and hunters who kill their own meat than people who would turn grey killing an animal but have no problem taking home a shiny stretch and seal styrofoam from the grocery store and put it out of their mind that they're eating an animal. If you can stomach killing and gutting an animal (I wouldn't), kudos, you deserve to eat that animal like a *true* omnivore.

As as note of interest, I drove by an abattoir earlier this afternoon and there were dozens of cars parked in front and a big group including children in the grass field across the street. First thought was it must be family day at the slaughterhouse.

It is Eid...sheep/lambs in particular are in demand (Abraham et al). But, other critters will do in a pinch.
