  1. If so, then how did he come to be? Did somebody create him? Did he just poof out of thin air? Did he create himself? How does such a powerful & complex being just "exist" without being created by something? Even if there is or isn't a God, doesn't it all have to a beginning point? One day we will build a spaceship that will be able to travel to the edge of the universe, puncture this edge, and go into the other side and maybe find out. Maybe we'd find another universe on the other side. Who knows.
  2. Or the shroud of darkness from "The Neverending Story"?
  3. Friggin loved Bioware's Star Wars KOTOR games. Was excited for Mass Effect 1 and bought when it came out, but it just didn't hook me and all the tons of backstory and dialogue seemed boring compared to Star Wars. Rented Mass Effect 2, the beginning is amazing & is so movie-like in the gameplay, seemed much-improved over #1. May buy #2 one day & finish it. For some reason in both games Shepard's voice bugs me. He delivers the dialogue a bit robotic & emotionless compared to the other amazing voice-actors.
  4. New rule proposal: one must only need to confess to the 'sin' of masturbation if your priest has not himself masturbated at any point in the last 2 weeks (as determined by a lie detector test).
  5. Breaking news! Bin Laden was a human male! I would find it highly unlikely if they DIDN'T find porn in his compound. If you raided the house of every male on this forum you'd likely find some kind of porn on their hard drives...or under their mattresses (for you old school pervs out there).
  6. I think it can, yes. The liberals got into a nasty habit of promising whatever people wanted to hear before an election, then reneging on so much of it after being elected. Yes virtually all politicians do this, but the Liberals were particularly bad. Telling the truth is sometimes not what the electorate wants to hear. On the other hand, isn't a party that governs based on what most people want a very democratic way to govern? Don't we want our MP's/government to vote the way we want them to, rather than what they believe?
  7. Anybody here want to kill Osama bin Laden??!? Here's your chance! Play the video game called Bin Laden Raid. It was one of the first games based on the OBL compound raid to go up on the web apparently. A web-based game so its free and no lengthy download/installs. It's not bad, i actually was more interested in exploring the compound, & the graphics are much better than those crude animations from the news. Could use some night-vision goggles and faster way to move though.
  8. Also, all of this "we need to define our ideology" stuff is nonesense. The fact that since at least the Chretien years the federal Libs have often simply governed based on what is popular and what would get them elected is what helped drive the success of the Chretien gov't. Governing based on what most of the public believes/wants rather than a dead-set ideology ie: "conservative" or "social democratic" is a brilliant & simple way for a party to maintain power, IMO, and obviously never bothered voters before the sponsorship scandal.
  9. I'm not much of a Liberal supporter, but the "this is Armageddon for the Liberals" thinking based on the last election is just way overblown. Many people are scurrying to figure out how to redefine or reshape the party. What is our party ideology? Should we lean center or more left-of-center. Should we merge with the NDP? This is all crap. The Libs don't need to redefine their party ideology. They are a political powerhouse, and recently have simply made some very bad policy & party decisions that are, IMO, easily rectifiable. Here's the major reasons why the Liberals suck ass right now: - Years of corruption and arrogance by the Chretien gov finally caught up with them, culminating in the sponsorship scandal, with Canadians angry enough to throw them out for the CPC in 2006. Libs never recover from the scandal fallout in Quebec. - Liberals choose Dion as leader, Dion is horrid, Libs continue to sputter. - Libs choose Iggy as leader, he's even worse, and lefties all jump on the snowballing NDP bandwagon as a left-wing alternative. Lying scumbag leaders like Dalton McGuinty in ON don't help the Liberal cause. Ok, so what's the main pattern here? Horrible leadership + corrupt/lying politicians. Therefore, the solution is to find a leader who is likable, competent, & electable (ie: NOT Bob Rae!), while working to be more honest to repair their reputation as lying/corrupt scumbags. Then just hope the electorate doesn't get too comfy with Layton. All easier said than done, but that's it!
  10. If they become like Muslims...there will be peace at last! Or maybe not. I hear Israelis and Palestinians yell at themselves in the mirror.
  11. I think that Hasidic newspaper had it bang on. In fact, i'm masturbating to that photo right now!
  12. Famous pic of Hillary (hand over mouth), Barack & co. looking concerned in the situation room wasn't them "watching" the OBL raid live. from The Telegraph: Some media spin put to rest.
  13. Genetic, or learned behaviour? I'm sure it's both in different cases.
  14. you roll your eyes so much i imagine you have a couple of detached retinas by now. True?
  15. Agreed. Partisan intellectual lightweights they both are.
  16. That's a good point. With all the crap that occurs everyday, the huge debate over taking OBL alive or dead is odd. US drones strikes into Pakistan have killed approximately 2000+ "bad guys" and civilians over the last several years. Who knows how many surrendering/unarmed terrorists and/or Taliban have been popped without trial. Who cares, right? And i agree with Tim, a trial would be pointless since the verdict would be predetermined. I'm more disturbed by the mobs of people celebrating a person's deaths like it was mardi gras. "Closure" my ass. Justice my ass, it was cold-blooded vengeance. Scores of people find closure without needing somebody dead. I'm also having a grand ole time watching Obama admin spin this situation to his political gain, while the gov is having major problems getting their stories straight.
  17. A flawed article, for sure. Read it before. Warmth? ya sure. Harper has a far greater intellect than Bush, without question.
  18. Me thinkin Omar Khadr is thinking "good luck mofo".
  19. I've been watching the first few UFC tournaments from 1993-1994 in the last week. They have "no rules"!!!...(except no eye-gouging, biting, or ball-kicking). Funny how the least-violent guy has been cleaning up, he just makes people go to sleep.
  20. Environment Minister says "sorry First Nations". lol. Ooopsies again!
  21. The US seems content to violate international law and state sovereignty at its whim. Iraq, Pakistan drones, and now this raid. Making a nuke state continually po'd probably isn't the wisest idea. OBL is dead, and the world is likely better off for it. Maybe. I guess we may see. The admin is already saying torture in gitmo helped lead them to OBL. Right out of the Bush propaganda playbook Likely gets Obama a 2nd term, especially since he seems to be taking most of the credit. Hundred bucks says the WH doesn't release the name(s) of the ops who killed OBL, Obama wouldn't want the hero spotlight to be taken off of him!
  22. what power does this kid have? not much.
  23. A couple of years ago i wouldn't want to fill out a census because of "privacy" and whatnot, if i had the choice i'd throw it in the trash. However, i've learned that the census is extremely valuable for researchers & academics on a large variety of issues/studies. Many social/economic problems can be and have been helped by this research by a wide variety of academic fields, including social work, psychology, economics, political science, etc. Filling out these census forms sucks, but the info helps make our country a better place to live.
  24. Personally, i think they just didn't want to get greedy. Kill the mofo, let it be done. If they took him alive, what if they were attacked on the way to the chopper by ISI or some bin Laden guards hiding down the street that were alerted? What if he was taken alive and the the chopper crashed like the other one, or was shot down, and he escaped? I think that its likely the chopper that crashed changed the game plan a bit also, ie: ok Plan B, just shoot the mofo and get outta here.
