Universities exist for people to collaborate to learn knowledge. When knowledge is politicized we all lose. There's not much worse than being considered a racist, people lose jobs over it, and people with a political agenda have recognized this and are weaponizing it for political purposes.

There's a lot of rightwing and leftwing hysteria these days. Luckily rightwing hysteria hasn't infected our universities, but leftwing hysteria has.

They buy the condos as an investment and then rent out the condos for income to help pay for the mortgage/taxes/condo fees etc. I don't know if this actually raises rent prices. If there's more people buying condos and renting them out wouldn't that lower rent prices since there's more places to rent? As opposed to people buying condos to live in themselves?

The fact that a group, like aboriginals, is very impoverished isn't in itself evidence they're being treated with racial bias. But they are and have been treated with racial bias obviously. Every country has racism and discrimination. Canada does to, but we're also one of the least racist and discriminatory. ie: I have gay friends and as couples they can't even vacation in most countries in the world out of fear. Even many in the Caribbean.

Then they leave Canada. They buy condos in bulk, and then have their real estate agent rent them to people in Canada. How in world is this legal? Canadians are getting screwed. Foreign investors are helping to drive up Canadian real estate prices.

China is good at following rules and laws. Nothing to worry about here.

Canada is a secular country founded by Christians, so there are obviously some tips of the hat to Christianity here and there.

The chief threatened violence against the cop a couple of times, he went into a karate stance twice. He also forcibly grabbed the cop off his wife. The 1st cop didn't have much he could do until backup arrived. He seemed to have patience but he was actually just stalling for backup to arrive. Then the chief resisted arrest. The 2nd cop came in too aggressive, the force was a tad excessive but the chief needed to be subdued. If you resist arrest expect to get hit. If this were a white person nobody would bat and eyelash. I like the celebs who complain about Trump's wall idea, meanwhile they live in gated communities with big walls/fences/gates around their homes to keep unwanted people out.

Families used to be able to afford a home, a car, and a few kids on one income. Now they need 2 incomes for the same thing, but people have fewer kids and the homes have smaller properties. The new detached homes being built have no front lawns. The only grass in the front is the tiny trip between the driveways of each house. And backyards? Who needs those! Standard of living will never go up very much for the middle class because even as their incomes go up, much of that money goes towards bidding on their houses. The highest bids for your average family home will go to the families who squeeze just about everything out of their mortgages as they can afford or as the bank will allow. If every worker in Canada got a 20% raise? Odds are eventually most of that would go towards larger mortgages for the same homes. Banks and builders win, everyone else loses. Rising house prices doesn't even benefit people who already live in homes, because everyone has to live in a house and if you sell your current house for big money you still have to buy another house to live in for big money. If we want a higher standard of living we'd need to make auctions on housing illegal and set a standard price for them based on age, square-footage, location etc. + profit for the builders.

Well, I think it's wrong for people to frame this as a racist incident. We don't know the motive of the cop. What is for sure is that this was a police brutality incident.

The media does edit things a certain way, but I don't blame them for the riots, I blame the cop who murdered Floyd and I blame the rioters themselves.

Trudeau gov is shutting down Parliament for the summer. As the country starts to re-open, they go on summer vacay, while we're in a state of emergency and we're spending more money than we've ever spend in our history.

Why do you need microchips in our bloodstream to track us. We all carry cellphones, which also have front and rear facing cameras in them, plus a microphone.

I think we've become so politically correct that this is combined with social media and 24/hr news to create outrage that his vocalized non-stop. I think if we continue this outrage it will become just noise, a lot of people will become desensitized to it, and people will start ignoring people's outrage consciously or unconsciously.

I think the increasing media spotlight has a lot to do with it, it puts a ton of pressure on politicians and their families. What sane and reasonable individual would want to go through that? Put their families through that? First, the cable news 24/hr news cycle, and now the recent social media landscape is so brutal. Politicians are under constant scrutiny. 40 years ago that just wasn't the case. Even 15 years ago you didn't have daily twitter freakouts.
