Canada & the US Civil War
Moonlight Graham replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
In 1812 the US attacked BNA. The US went to war with Mexico and annexed Texas about 20 years before the US civil war. After the civil war ended the northern US had a big standing army of trained soldiers with nothing to do. The US bought Alaska in 1867 three months before Confederation, not a coincidence. -
Kamala Harris
Moonlight Graham replied to Honolulu147's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Sleeping your way to the top is an American tradition, she is America's sweetheart! I wonder if Biden's penis tasted musty. In other news, Harris is a careerist and a savage opportunist and I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her, which I would reckon would be about 4 feet. She's morally empty, and has the semen-strained dresses to prove it. -

Because why would they care, and what could they do? -
I literally don't care where the workers come from. As long as it isn't an enemy like China.

You can't do that, it's more expensive to produce products here, and those products won't be able to compete with Chinese-manufactured products. You have to move manufacturing to another 3rd world country, like India.

No. It really does feel good bashing Trudeau. Tell your gf her vagina looks like Trudeau's. -

Just STFU about politics until she becomes emotionally attached to you, then mouth off. -
The threat is really for older people and people with compromised health. We're doing this all for them. In my age group the fatality rate in Canada is 0.5%, which probably accounts for people already sick with compromised immunity, like cancer treatments or whatever. There's also zero deaths in Canada for people under 20 y/o, which supports school reopenings. I'm not America-stupid, I still wear my mask willingly, but we also have to put the stats in perspective. COVID is certainly much more fatal and more easily spread than the flu, but everyone who gets it aren't dropping like flies. The overall fatality rate is around 3.8% for known cases, mainly among seniors. Compare that to 10% for SARS. Yes there are concerns for long-term effects, like when you get pneumonia.

Yeah I agree with you. The way Canada's system is set up, you can't get anywhere unless you kiss ass. Look where Jody Wilson-raybould is right now. She wouldn't play the game and now she's effed. In the US system, the POTUS is't a part of the legislature like in Canada so the POTUS can't bully legislators in his party as much so things are a bit more equal that way, but everything is more based on campaign money and if you can't raise corporate funds you're at a big disadvantage.

I don't know why we want other people (elected representatives) to determine laws we have to follow. I'd rather vote on it myself and skip the crooked lying middle-men. Our system has evolved slowly from an absolute monarchy. It has always been designed by and for elites. No different than in the US, where the constitution was designed by upper class white, college-educated, slave-owning men, in a time when like 3% of the popular went to college, and these people didn't trust the will of the people, hence the electoral college and elected representatives.

Most people go into politics for power, not for honour or to serve their country.

I think society favours men and women in different situations. It doesn't have to be a competition of victimhood.
