The road to 2020
Moonlight Graham replied to GostHacked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I don't think polling is all that important in this election. It wasn't last election. We're talking about around 10 swing states or whatever that are usually fairly close. Poll answers also don't predict who is going to actually vote, and that's even more up in the air with COVID. I think it's exciting that we have no idea what's going to happen. -

I don't see him saying anything about "burning the system down". -

I think their agenda is ratings, not riots. -
If the government is going to hire people based on race, and discriminate against white people, it should be based on research that non-white government employees are not being hired because of their race into senior positions, and not because of other variables. I'd be ok with that. But that's not what i've seen from our government. Where is the research to back the need for this racial inventory, and the need to discriminate against white people? What I see George Floyd getting killed etc, lots of protests, and now the government saying "there's racism out there, let's help by hiring more POC". Sorry, that's not good enough. I also heard today that because COVID affects women disproportionately, Trudeau will give some financial support to women. If that's true that is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. Having a vagina does not make you more targeted, it's what these women are doing that does (teaching, nursing, caregiving, contact with eldery/children, working retail & waitressing etc). So target those vulnerable people, not their gender. Virtue signalling BS. Male teachers, nurses, single parents, retail workers etc will get nothing, while single women with no kids working from home may get a handout. Some people are intent on using one variable like gender and race to diagnose social problems when there's more than one variable involved, which is just bad social science.

Sweet, i've been accused of favouring the Palestinians and the Israelis in this one thread. Again, I literally don't care. I have no skin in that game. That conflict get WAAAAAAYYYY too much international attention anyways compared to other conflicts going on in the world. You and Dog are so full of angst you're LOOKING for fight, you two are putting people on sides they don't even want to be on so you can attack. -

Polls don't mean crap in the swing-states, which is the only place polls would actually matter anyways. Clinton led in a bunch of polls in swing states she ended up losing. We'll find out on election night. -
Is America splitting apart?

Every virtue, when taken to an extreme, becomes a vice. Some nationalism and national unity is good. Too much is bad. Too little is bad too. -

Imagine a world where judges looked at things objectively and didn't bring their own ideological BS to work with them. -
November Aftermath

There are already SERIOUS issues with vote suppression with mail-in ballots, benefiting the GOP not the Democrats. Colorado has already filed a lawsuit against the USPS (run by a Trump supporter) for spreading misinformation. 3rd party pro-Trump groups in swing states like Virginia are also mailing out mail-in ballot applications with the incorrect return addresses on them, saying they were "printing errors". Meanwhile, polls say around 70% of Biden supporters will vote by mail, while only 20% of Trump supporters say they will. That means voter suppression for mail-in ballots will overwhelmingly harm Democrats over GOP: https://www.nbc12.com/2020/08/06/department-elections-warns-third-party-mailings/ https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/colorado-sues-postal-service-over-misinformation-notices-about-mail-voting-n1239963 I see a likelihood of civil unrest in Nov. If Biden loses, Biden voters will cry foul. If Trump loses, he will cry foul and challenge it in the courts. Mail-in ballots are likely to become a controversy like it was in 2000, potentially much worse. -
In Ottawa you almost always need to be bilingual to fill senior/executive government positions. How many black, south asian, indigenous people etc in Canada do you think are bilingual compared to white people? How many people living west of ottawa do you think are bilingual compared to Quebec? As far as I know they haven't even run any stats or studies to see if there's a disproportionate # of qualified bilingual whites being over over qualified bilingual non-whites. If that doesn't happen, it's just racist virtue signalling.

FOX pushes the narratives and facts they agree with. You're saying they don't omit facts that don't support their narrative? Give me a break. Sure you can learn some things on FOX, it's not all lies, but it's all spin, I don't trust them. "Fair and balanced", and the "No spin zone" LOL give me a break, their whole supposed "raison d'etre" is a lie. If Obama was being investigated for the same thing their coverage would be A LOT different, in fact the very opposite, they'd behave just like CNN. It's all BS and you've cuddled up to your favorite anus. We're all being fooled. These are high-stakes games being played in back-alleys of power and we don't know the truth, like House of Cards and Game of Thrones. All we get is the trickle of info that leaks out.

I'm not a Dem supporter, I don't even like Biden, I'm not leftwing, I don't like CNN, it lies and op-eds constantly, much like FOX News. I'm trying to find out the truth. I'm aware of lots of shade the Democrats have been up to the last 5 years. Ok let's even say Russia wasn't behind the leaks. Russia is still the enemy of the US and trying to undermine them politically with all sorts of covert ops. Twitter & social media is filled with Russian bots and gov employees on fake accounts sowing discord. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-disinformation/russia-deploying-coronavirus-disinformation-to-sow-panic-in-west-eu-document-says-idUSKBN21518F https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/05/20/859814085/researchers-nearly-half-of-accounts-tweeting-about-coronavirus-are-likely-bots

I'm not on the left. LOL Hannity is a pundit journalist, he doesn't know any more than anyone else, because he doesn't have top secret clearance into the US or Russian gov, and isn't tapping Trump and Putin's communications. Whatever is good for Russia or China is bad for America and Canada, and vice versa. Get that through your head. Zero-sum game. If you support tougher immigration polices, economic nationalism, and being tough on China etc. that's perfectly fine, so do I, just don't do it through this guy.
