WashPo Caught Lying Again
Moonlight Graham replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It should be clear to everyone that Trump is a biatch who pressured government officials to overturn an election in his favour through any means at their disposal. -
That's a great question. I'm not sure. It's still gross but it isn't causing much harm and not sure it's the state's business.

Yes incest should be a crime. I would call the act of incest to be sexual relations. Holding hands and kissing well whatever.

I was born right here. Aboriginals originally immigrated from Asia. Why do they inherit everything? Because finders keepers? This "aboriginals lived on a very small % of Canada and therefore own the entire landmass" is what's BS. The gov has an obligation to uphold the treaties they signed and nothing else. Pre-Columbus the Aztecs were brutal colonizers who murdered the people they colonized in sacrifice by ripping their beating hearts out of their chests. Nobody has the right to play holier than thou. They played the game and lost.

Nobody cares what a foreigner thinks. Our house, our rules. Obey or go back where you came from. There were up to 1 million indigenous people who lived in Canada when the French arrived. That's less than today's population. Indigenous didn't set foot on the vast majority of land in Canada. It's a very, very big place. So how exactly can they "claim" all of "Canada" (which didn't exist as a polity at the time) as their own? Finders keepers, losers weepers. The most they could claim is the land which they occupied.

America Under pResident Biden
Moonlight Graham replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Biden is giving 4 billion in foreign aid to central american countries to try and curb illegal migration. Just tell them to turn around bro. It's fine to provide foreign aid, but it's also not the US's burden to prevent migrants from fleeing their own countries. The US government is simply weak. Every country has a right to control its own borders and migration. -
The US build its republic from scratch. Our system has been slowly built over many centuries and came out of an absolute monarchy, and still retains some elements of the monarchy, so it's complex to remove it from a system build on its foundations. The monarchy is large ceremonial anyways, as head of state.

I think if you're a leader of a federal party like Jagmeet is you need to tread lightly around this issue because you're talking about an institutional that underpins the very foundations of the state and the position he holds. It seems like he may not know much about our institutions like most Canadians. I blame our education system for that. He claims to be a republican rather than a monarchist. That is a very bold position for a federal leader.

Are there patriots anymore in Canada? Nationalism is such a dirty word these days. I can imagine a day when kids stop reciting the national anthem in school every morning because it offends somebody. Edit: Oh wait I found somebody already offended: https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/davide-mastracci/o-canada-national-anthem-school_a_23662059/

Increased Immigration not needed, will hurt workers
Moonlight Graham replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You can be tolerant of other beliefs, up until a point. Go look at France, and to an extent Britain, there are certain points where you have to stand up for our basic constitutional human rights against people from other countries who refuse to abide by them and will even murder people over free speech. Charlie Hebdo is an example. Blasphemy should never, ever be a death sentence, but we all know that it is in certain countries even under the law. If you want to wear a hijab i don't care, because it's harmless. If you want to cut off the clitoris of your wife/daughter or murder someone over some cartoons you have crossed the line, and you need to follow the local laws or else go to jail, or go back to your country of origin. It's that simple. When you move to a new country you required to follow the local laws. If a Canadian woman moved to Saudi Arabia she wouldn't be allowed to go topless there, and she should respect those laws too. If someone wants to change a law, you do it through the democratic process. -

Some men don't care if their wives are interested in sex. Some men will have sex with their wives no matter if they really want it or not, therefore don't care if their wives get pleasure. Some men are very controlling and rape their wives. Talk to women from 3rd world countries and you will hear some terrible stories from some of them. The concept of equality among the sexes does not exist in some cultures. They're 50 to 100 years behind us on that front. -

Well yes anyone bringing these values to Canada should be criticized regardless of religion. It should be illegal. I don't know if it is in Canada, but it should be. You don't need to be a fundamentalist Muslim to want to control women or cut off her lady bits, that's for sure. For me, I don't give beliefs special treatment whether they are religious or not. Bad ideas are bad ideas. People's bad ideas or cultural practices don't get a free pass just because they are "religious" or not. Canada used to not let women vote and not let them divorce, those were bad ideas too. -

Not all Muslim countries do the practice, but there's a prevalence of FGM in many of them, especially in the northern half of Africa. Ask yourself why Indonesia is the only country east of the middle east where the practice is widespread. Muslims have an ideology of female purity and resistance of sexual temptations, which FGM seeks to accomplish by removing the clitoris and any anatomy that would give sexual pleasure for a female to dissaud her from wanting to have sex. It's quite a disgusting practice aimed at controlling a woman's sexual behaviour. Controlling women sexually is a very part of fundamentalist Muslim ideology. It's the reason women are made to wear burkas and a niqab, can't sit in the same area as men in a Mosque or in some countries have separate female entrances to buildings than men, or can't shake a man's hand etc. Sexual temptation is suppressed in every way possible. Surgery to reconstruct a woman's hymen in order to make her a virgin again is also practiced by some Muslims because again of the purity factor that some men in the religion/culture enjoy. These surgeries are on the rise in Europe among Muslim populations. People don't automatically forget all cultural practices when moving from one country to another just because they've crossed over a border. -

There doesn't seem to be much of that anymore. It's all emotion and rage these days it seems. We used to have some of that in academia but now even that has become quite political and emotional. Identity politics makes people angry. -

Trudeau gov wants more votes. Their only real competition is the CPC. More immigrants, more votes. I'm ok with modest immigration. Not 400k a year though, and not during a pandemic where it's hard to get a job or start a business. -
This is not factual. Your assumption is that if Biden or some other more COVID-competent POTUS was in office the number of COVID deaths would be zero? This is factually impossible. The question is how much damage did Trump do? How many deaths is his admin responsible for? How much are the governors of each state responsible? The mayors and city councils? Congress? Private citizens unwilling to wear masks and resisting lockdowns and social gatherings etc?
