The guy insulted pretty much everyone. Shameful act and stupid to boot. This is a guy who will receive a golden pension plan and has a relatively easy job. All he has to do is not put his foot in his mouth not be a jerk and be there for the photo op in order to earn a paycheck. This guy is on the gravy train, makes decent bucks and all on the government tab. Fact is, the people who put into EI are the last people he should be calling LAZY BASTARDS. The Bastards are those in Government who had no problem stealing from the honest people who paid into it. Yes these Conservatives diverted $8 Billion from EI within 2 years for their own pet projects and hung those people on EI out to dry. Now when the going gets tough these same Conservatives, ones who think EI is lucrative, cough up 300 million dollars for 3 years to be diverted back into EI, during the most serious job losses ever seen in Canada including 120,000 jobs lost last January alone. Those people on EI know who " THE LAZY BASTARDS" are and they aren't on the street. They are in government shooting their mouths off and writing off packages of gum, booze, hotels and travel while they enjoy the priveledges of being on the government dole. But hey, he apologised.

Don't ask me why. I have a friend who is the greatest landlord I have ever met. (no I own my house). But this guy bends over backwards and the tenants he has landed have been awful people. Then I head to a downtown area with a slumlord #0428904801*** absentee landlord and the tenants put up with everything from water leaks to walls collapsing. This landlord owned an entire block and drove out all the small businesses but managed to hold onto the tenants. Why is it the opposites that attract? Too many good landlords have to suffer because of the actions of a few very very bad apples. Its is more often the landlord taking the risk not the tenant.

Did you sign the Petition to stop the Conservative Bribe?

Wishful thinking. This is failure not success. Those individuals came in to create shit and they succeeded for a time. Now they are seen for the clowns that they are, people with an agenda and its not Caledonia. And there is a lineup of Developers who want to engage in the same windfall. Some developers in financial hardship and unable to make payroll have encouraged SN activists to show up. Others see the situation as WIN WIN, with the bigger payout coming from the government. Sounds like propoganda to me. They day we all win is the day there is an understandable negotiation process and when identified interests on Six Nations are able to offer a unified voice at the negoitation table. The same is true for the Canadian Government who has many different interests often in opposition to one another and then different legal tactics that get in the way of progress. What you call winning, I call a dogs breakfast.

LOL. Keep spinning. I await your signature on the petition. I await your critism of the $4.3 Billion dollar Conservative Bribe. I have respect for those people whom disagree with my railing against the HST and defend their positions for the HST then those who hide in the bush and toss about red herrings.

It looks like this is the next step... Here is the link to the Sun Article http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2009/11/19/11804716-sun.html That basically says, the devil made me do it.

Each day this looks more and more like the Harper Sales Tax http://www.torontosun.com/news/canada/2009/11/19/11804716-sun.html And here is a petition to STOP the Conservative Funding of the HST. http://www.fightthehike.ca/conservative-mp-hst-letter.html

Well, this isn't surprising. What is surprising is how many people aren't fooled by Hudaks false posturing. I think he is doing an excellent job highlighting the HST. However, the more he highlights it the more he has to come up with a solution. The easiest would be to call up the former finance minister. The Harper Sales Tax was good enough for Flaherty when he was finance minister and the Federal Liberals were peddling such poison. But today its good medicine? I read the comments on the papers and it is clear that people who are paying attention can see the forest through the trees. I want to see Hudak go all the way and challenge the finance minister. To shame his Federal Conservative MPs. Hudak is for the Harper Sales Tax. Just not at this time according to him, but it is changing, now he wants to see more items exempt and public consultations. That is a good move. I want the public to tell him to pick up the phone and talk to his Ontario triple trio of tax and spenders in the Harper government.

Scathing Review of Michael Ignatieff

This is something stupid that Harper used to engage in. -
Ignatieff inner circle shrinks, 2 more aides depart

Actually, it would be for people without cars, and cheaper then a flight. Regardless, it is the fact that the LPC have no structure, poor leadership and still an agonizing believe of entitlement that is holding them back. Its not necessarily the ideas. Most Canadians don't like the HST but that didn't stop the Harper Government from proposing it to 3 provinces. The problem being the LPC support the HST like their cousins the CPC. Thus no traction. Then in Quebec, the LPC were slowly being forgiven for adscam and then petty internal partizan politics has put silly battles before the public in the midst of a horrific recession. The bleeding in Quebec continues and the CPC have proven to be a Federalist alternative. The LPC dropping EI and attempting to force an election, proved what people thought of Ignatieff. That he was an intellectual and tone deaf. Essentially Harper has realized that when Ignatieff is stumbling, don't get in his way. Let him fall all on his own. Its taken more years then expected to see Harper wisen up. But this fall he has proven to withhold his own foolish outbursts that would usually cost the CPC a % or 2 and kill any momentum the government had. So far Harper has travelled the globe and his shoe isn't in his mouth. Therefore the LPC ship is sinking and Ignatieff doesn't have the skill to bail it out. The LPC will bail on Ignatieff after the next election. I hear Justin Trudeau is holding $10,000 fund raising dinners for his leadership run. -

IIRC The tariffs are coming off Shipbuilding next year. 25,000 Jobs (est across CCanada) will be lost as a result of the recently signed trade agreement. Ironically the removal of the tariff was opposed by a rather wealthy group out East know as the Irving Family.

What court do you go to if you are charged with violating an injunction. Criminal or Civil.

All leave you with those words and following comments as I agree with the gist of your argument.

It appears that the NDP have picked up on the CPC bribe in BC and Ontario. This is 18 days old, probably should have been the start of the thread topic. But the thread is about falling polling numbers for the CPC over the HST. And as was pointed out, its now hurting the LPC. There are two motions coming forward. The Federal monies to the Provinces will end up being confidence motions. I expect the CPC and the LPC to rally around the HST and crush the NDP. That's $5.9 Billion in Federal Bribery monies at a time when the CPC is running a record deficit. Harper Sales Tax

Sales Tax/HST/GST - Other People's Money

no it wasn't me, but that didn't stop you from sending a link to my post. I couldn't figure out why I was receiving a judiciary link. I thought you were being cryptic. I read the government link anyways, for fun . Go ahead. -
Is Twitter an appropriate mode of communication for MPs?
madmax replied to robert_viera's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What a shame. I hope this ignorant MP gets the boot.On another note. I think twitter is an overhyped application. Its a flash in the pan. No one will be twittering in 3 years. -
I just now, caught the bottomline of the thread title. Yes, what you are describing and is in your thread title is practiced in the US and not practiced in Canada.

I surrender. I will never understand BC politics. Is it like a Donut? No Centre, and if you go right, you find the left and left you find the right and utlimately drive around in circles until you find the magic bus? There is no other Provincial thread I could ever read the comment above and not breakout into laughter. But this kind of talk actually has plausibility in BC if not possible?

The OPP have NO WAY of knowing whether or not an injunction is illegal. The injunction was issued, and they are obligated to enforce the court order. It is the failure of the injunction because of the criteria you mention that has changed the enforcement doctrine of the OPP at Caledonia only. However, the public would like to blame the OPP for following the law. The OPP continues to do so, and under at times extremely difficult situations have kept the peace. Anyone going through Caledonia would have no idea there is anything amiss. Heck, plenty travel from Hamilton through the city and get their smokes at the bend. LOL. There are other injunctions against SN along the grand river. These injunctions are unlikely to pass the acid test as they are challenged in court. Until the injunction is defeated, the police of various jurisdictions be it OPP or City, enforce the standing injunction. This continues to this day. The injunction failed in Caledonia, because the rule of law prevailed. The Courts involved in the Caledonia injunction should have forced the Federal Government and the Provincial government into talks with SN. All development on the contested land of the DCE and other sites should be stopped and all protestors should be offsite while talks are proceeding. However, since there are no talks, and since there is continued development without consultation and since the Federal Government is AWOL. Expect more injunctions to fail in appeal and expect more protests not less, until the government gets down to resolving the issue in black and white. If you want to have some fun. Ask a politician, like Diane Finley, who's land it is, and she won't comment.

Hold onto that thought. Each day more and more people are coming to realize what the hell has happened. I just came back from a 90th birthday party for one of the Pillars of the community. Her family is wealthy, highly educated and the reunion didn't take long to get to the "what are you doing" phase. 5 of the 7 people had been terminated since last year at one table and as a relative arrived late, the one twin brother asked that no one tell his brother that he was out of work. He felt too many people knew and it was beneath him. When the other twin arrived, they asked what he was up too. He said he got let go on Friday. I am surrounded by technical people but I can't employ them all.
-
The Tech people got burned back in the 90s. There was no help, no government understanding and the general public just didn't care. We lost huge during this period. I find your comments troubling in that what happened then is indicative of much of the rest of Canadian information and technology in all fields. And I agree with your future assessment about the ability to fix the problem. Its virtually too late. Soon Canada will be a Job ghetto with highly trained and educated people asking that all important question. "Would you like fries with that".

Sales Tax/HST/GST - Other People's Money
madmax replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Then you pay tax on book value if your purchase price is too low. In addition The Ontario government sends out letters to the seller of the vehicle to respond in writing the sale price of the vehicle. The purchaser is the one who brings in the price of the vehicle and pays the tax. Its getting easier to track purchases and the younger generation aren't into cash , and some of us older generation are none to fond of receiving $5,000 in cash with $1500 in counterfeit  -
