  1. WOW!!! Could that happen? "Make is so"
  2. 1)Thread drift 2) Excellent source on Equalization http://www.mapleleafweb.com/features/equalization-program-canada-overview-and-contemporary-issues 3) Back to the origins of the thread. The Facebook Group is over 100,000 and likely near 110,000. Iceberg = meet Titanic
  3. A very candid answer from a CPC MP. to paraphrase: We CPC MPs are going to the Olympics and if the house was sitting we might be outvoted on a bill or in committee. Not even going to bother to post the link, he doesn't add much more then that.
  4. ....except few are buying into it. No.
  5. I am not certain if you are delusional or have no understanding of security and covert actions. Your rah rah combined with non sensical cheerleading are nothing more then useless slogans and bafflegab. Luckily things are left to professionals and only some wingnuts and clueless politicians run around repeating cheerleading slogans while successful conventional conventional actions are few and far between, and goodworks in security and infrastructure projects are overlooked. I know what would happen to you if you were bunked with me and you didn't shut up.
  6. When the government doesn't leave a good impression. The public begins to 2nd guess the actions of the government. I am totally surprised at how many people are voicing their opinion on this issue outside of a politica forum, compared to other issues that us punters cover in these forums and don't register at all with the public. I think this is a good thing. I don't know if the intent is to change anyones vote. First it appears that the public is interested in seeing the government get back to work. Its party hacks who dismiss the issue and the public.
  7. Hurts when the rock doesn't break the window but bounces back in your face. You took a cheap shot and got hurt on your own terms. Apparently he doesn't care about the Canadian Public, or those CPC identified voters who disagree with his decision to prorogue. He doesn't care about parliment. I guess he doesn't care about alot of things. I don't think he cares about you, not in the least. Not certain exactly what you are trying to prove, but whatever it is it isn't working. I support a secret ballot for good reason. I look forward to the next one if this nonsense continues.
  8. Try Harder. Flushing down all the legislation and not showing up for work is not continueing to work. MPs are going to be busy finding the photo op and this is going to backfire. The Prime Minister has failed to make his case or quite frankly, the answer is to lame to be accepted by anyone who doesn't own a set of rose coloured glasses. Starting from scratch, bills at 3rd reading and such being reintroduced at 1st reading etc, and redoing all the business previously done is retarded and a waste of the taxpayers money who pay these people to do a job and finish it. CPC MPs want to get paid twice for repeating themselves and a extra holiday to boot.
  9. Not following is 34%. Not Certain is 28%. This falls along standard voting patterns. In any given riding only 50% to 70% vote. This is higher then our standard voting pattern. People who vote care. I suspect even you have an opinion or you wouldn't be commenting. Strongly agree is a mere 7% Agree is a mere 12% Those are not great numbers as they aren't as high as the Not following/Not Certain = Apathetic/not interested numbers.
  10. I don't believe Albertans vote like sheep. Albertans appear to be very consistent and then create new parties for overall change. Origins of Progressives, United Farmers, CCF, Social Credit, Reform and WIldrose to name but a few successful creations. If there was another Federal Alternative not listed in the above poll, that had a Centre Right leaning, such as a Social Credit, Reform, Wild Rose (to early to tell) vision, then you might see the CPC numbers come down across the Province. Instead, the Province sees a concentration in a riding that chooses one of the above parties to oust and sub performing MP if the riding association didn't do it for them. Thus the handful or Finger of opposition such as the NDP MP in Alberta. Given a choice that is reflective of the ALB values and the CPC numbers would drop. But the other choices are not viewed as palatable and the people plug their noses. Given what is happening Provincially it is demonstratable that the people of Alberta are not sheep. Parking your vote with a party with no platform is as risky as it gets. As of right now considering that the other governing party hadn't hit it off with Alb in 25 years, this is ALbertans only choice and only choice for a government they feel serves their interests, regardless of whether they like the leader or the tactics. For Albertans it is the policy. When I think of Sheep, I think of many the Toronto Area ridings which vote Liberal without question and the 905 regions that vote Conservative without question. There are clear alternatives for these ridings and the federal government regardless of Brand pays attention to Ontario because it is the largest PRovince. Yet these "Sheep" never take a chance on the other parties. I prefer voters who swing from party to party. It keeps us honest. I wish more ridings were in play during elections. However, Alberta, ironically, has fewer choices then Quebec, yet there is a similar Isolation in the two Provinces yet there visions are very different. Your thoughts?
  11. Then the government should go to work not avoid it.
  12. Perhaps you might take the time to spell Partisan before making accusations that people can't spell prorogue . At your Belligerent worst again. Call the poll what you wish. I highly doubt any other poll, regardless of origin and backer is going to come out with a significantly different outcome. I have given it its own thread for future polls.
  13. Here is the latest Angus Reid Poll on the question of Prorogation http://www.visioncritical.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/2010.01.07_Prorogue_CAN.pdf Timely Poll.
  14. Speaking of Rabble babble, the left wing forum. There isn't nearly the discussion and concurrent threads going on proroguing as there is here. Which is more reason to worry that this is receiving more commentary here on a Centre Right, Centre Left forum and the only ones coming to the prorogation defense are people like Mr. Canada and Shady. Others are a little more analytical and cautious. I don't know if this is the game changer that Lawrence Martin suggests, but it certainly puts a ball in play. Last time Harper did a media blitz to cover his butt. It was successful. I think people will laugh their asses off if the CPC comes up with a commercial on why The Prime Minister has taken a holiday or why his finance minister is so incompetent that he has closed down parliment.
  15. Kim Campbell yes. John Turner, I don't believe he bothered, but he had other fun engagements. He was a person of priviledge and I am certain that if he wanted to do the lecture circuit he would be there. Joe Who.. WHO?
  16. You may have elected an idiot, but he is a Right wing idiot from Centre Right party. And your complaints include him cutting "left wing" programs. Those same complaints taken up by the Liberals, New Democrats and Wildrose. That being said, look at what Eddie the Idiot has done to this province. Screwed up the oilpatch, cut funding for the handicapped, cutting funding for education, the "health superboard", etc, etc. Essentially he has proven to be fiscally incompetent of which there were plenty of allegations of PC fiscal incompetence hidden by a strong economy which masked their poor decision making.
  17. Can't change the channel on this one. This is about Proroguing and the justification, or more importantly the lack of justification for doing so. The BQ crutch doesn't exist for 2010. Come up with something legitimate.
  18. Running Scared? Nothing wakes up the Unemployed and recently out of work and those working in precarious low paying jobs anger up more, then a Lazy and Arrogant government where MPs are making $155,000 with ample time off, deciding that no-one is watching them feed at the trough and get extended holidays. Yes, its jobs and the economy stupid. GET BACK TO WORK!!! Those comments smell of Liberal Arrogance. But surprise its Conservative Arrogance rising to the top. Nice to see how well your thoughts are connecting with Blue/White Collar workers. I can see all those Nortel Employees agreeing with you. NOT!
  19. Apparently the difference is when Paul Martins feet were being held to the fire he got burned. The Prime Minister and his apologists have argued that they are no better then the Chretien Liberals. Its an amazing stupid defence. Its like defending Adscam, or Brian Mulroney etc. The CPC and their spinners are caught in a fools game.
  20. Same thing as the Prime Minister... Polling Numbers. The rest of people are waiting for the government to get its ass in gear and get back to work.
  21. The Ekos Poll is virtually status quo. I don't believe it reflects prorogation as a ballot question. I was looking for more details but the pdf file wouldn't load for me.
  22. Sometimes attacking the messenger or finding the freaks, which is often what media reports in order to sell a story, can work. But I don't believe that this article or any others are going to affect the big picture. Are there Harper haters? Of course. But the silent majority who are not, are asking a very simple question. WHY? And the answer so far is unfocused. I very much doubt that the 85000 are dedicated Harper haters as I can start pointing out people on that page that had a CPC lawnsign on their yard in 2008. (EDITED, I can also point out a member of a CPC riding association executive member). I am certain that they may be uncomfortable with the outspoken and sometimes irrational anger directed at Harper or Flaherty or Baird. But then again, if Harper, Flaherty and Baird went back to work that would be the end of it. Wouldn't it. The government is capable of going back to work in January if they wanted to do so. I do not believe the government is incapable of doing its job. The government doesn't want to sit because it believes that the public doesn't care. I want to see the public tell the government to get its ass in gear. Its long overdue and what democracy needs.
  23. I disagree. The change is within the margin of error for the Ekos poll. Ekos rarely has the CPC near majority territory unlike other polsters. When Nanos and some others come in then there will be a clearer indication. I am more interested in teh polls that will come in a few weeks after the proroguement sinks in. If that effects the CPC numbers then I expect an attitude adjustment from the Party and the loyal diehard CPC punters.
  24. hahahahahahaha LAPDOG Lets see.... 85,000 vs 313 people. Lets have an election NOW and Prorogation the Ballot Question. LOL.
  25. So Flaherty and Harper can't walk and chew gum at the same time? They are unable to do their duties, have to let everything that is in various stages fall by the wayside because they haven't the competence to do their job? The excuse is weak and I believe as people hear it, they won't believe it either. Normally Harper habit has been to undermine his own progress as ambition takes over governance. The Prime Minister just went through his best period this fall and made no missteps for months, whereas Ignatieff continued to error. Politics is a game of the least mistakes, and that pushed Harper and the CPC near majority territory. I don't know about the "throw the bums out", people want them to "GET BACK TO WORK". And quite frankly, an election is likely to create a similar set of circumstances with most parties sitting with 3 to 6 seats of their present positions. Thus, another election and we could end up with our third CPC minority government and more of Harpers desire for "Time off" and prorogation when he and his ministers can't handle their feet near the fire.
