  1. But what does it actually say? Expressing displeasure doesn't necessarily need to be divisive.
  2. Another thing just popped into my head... The biggest question is: should I make the reactions anonymous... because as it stands now, you can see who "reacts". It's unlikely members are going to be honest, if they have to be public about their reaction.
  3. That is entirely possible. But it can go the other way too, posts upvoted for the ideological content too. So it might just be a wash...
  4. That was a change on my part... This is only a test, but reactions where not being used all that often, and I want to see if changing the way this feature works, that it might spur more reactions to be used. If it doesn't work, I can return it to the original layout. Just trying new things, and see what sticks. Thanks for the feedback!
  5. Agreed, lets see what happens. It might help quality postings rise up, while low quality posts/threads will drop off. I can actually configure the display so that high quality (i.e. higher rated) threads are "featured". However, I've never been a huge fan of gamification, as it can end up being gamed and becomes the exact opposite of what you want. So we'll see...
  6. Over the years I resisted the down-vote functionality, because I thought it would sow discontent. However, since the reputation level feature was introduced, EVERYONE has a positive reputation - when we all know that isn't always the case... So I've activated the downvote functionality, and I'm thinking I might reset everyone's reputation, so that everything is on a level playing field. Feel free to post your comments below in this thread. Thanks!
  7. Extremely poor attempt at starting a thread. This thread is closed.
  8. Cool the rhetorical down in this thread. You might just be losing the argument if you have to call out someone's loyalty to their country because of a position they take. Stick to the issues, not attacking each other.
  9. Please give me an example, a screen shot would be helpful too.
  10. Sorry, what? please explain what happened… it’s not possible for someone to change what you wrote.
  11. Which is it, @WestCanMan... 12 or 12 million? I have edited the thread title to more accurately reflect the facts. Ok, clearly @WestCanMan was being cheeky... as witnessed by "?" I didn't immediately get the joke either...
  12. That's not for me to decide. But the attempt to provide sources will frustrate those who play hard and fast with facts. I will never require anyone to provide a source for any fact or opinion they might have. That isn't my role, and you'll never see me do it. If a poster refuses or cannot provide a source, it weakens their argument. The problem with some members in this forum is they expect to win the argument. Which to me is pointless, because many members refuse to compromise or accept any other version of reality to which they have formed their opinions. But again, c'est la vie. If you can't agree on a topic, big deal. Move on. You said your piece, and if you said it accurately and with respect, you'll likely convince more skeptics than if you drive hard for the home run. And I'm not singling out you, @Rebound - this is a broad statement to the whole forum community.
  13. Lets all cut out the "he's a liar", "no, he's a bigger liar", etc etc. If you provide a reputable source for any fact stated, then you'll likely be immune from being considered a liar. That won't stop anyone from calling you a liar, but that's life. Lets all try to state our opinions in a respectful manner, and then take the high road when someone disagrees enough to call you a liar.
  14. Hover your cursor over the forum member's name (this works anywhere in forums), a popup will appear. You can select Ignore (bottom right). You can also add members directly under the Ignored Users settings in your profile: https://repolitics.com/forums/ignore/ Please post any support questions in the Support forum in the future. This response will be moved to the support forums shortly.
  15. Let’s tone down the rhetoric everyone. We can all make an argument without resorting to insults.
  16. I'm not certain this needs to be merged. The Insanity thread is a broad discussion. This particular thread is about a specific incident. If you disagree, please create a thread in the Support section, so as to not clutter up this thread.
  17. Actually, ignore what I just said. It's all or nothing in the settings. There is a time-limit on editing a posting (24 hours), however you can delete your content, at anytime. Sorry for the confusion!
  18. There will be a time limit on deleting recent posts. However, due to privacy issues, we've having to implement a "removal all postings" and delete my whole account feature. So you'll be able to go back back a bit into the past to remove something specific. However, if you want to remove everything, we'll have to remove your whole account. Make sense?
  19. Sorry, slightly behind, I'll get to it today.
  20. I disabled signatures a few years back, but I've decided we should bring them back. To edit, or add a new signature, go to your Profile, then Account Settings, then Signature. Are visit this link: https://repolitics.com/forums/settings/signature/ If you hate seeing signatures, you can turn them off (you won't see anyone else's) by deselecting the View Signatures toggle.
  21. Tags allow you to categorize any new thread based on a few words. For example, this thread has two tags applied: Tags, and Suggestions. You can do this by adding the tags when you create the new thread: Or you can add them AFTER you've created the thread:
  22. This thread has run its course. @BeaverFever, this thread did the exact opposite of what you were clearly trying to achieve. I'm not sure you understand that...
  23. Agreed. it’s a feature I will activate next week.
  24. So you admit you're not being helpful? "Outrageous" - you seriously need to rethink your perspectives.
