  1. Very stupid things have been said in this thread. I've removed most of those statements, but if anyone steps over the line again, they'll be repercussions.
  2. It's not a bad proposal, and I'll be open to at least trying something like this on a trial basis - or perhaps just designating certain featured threads as moderated. Perhaps limiting a mods ability to moderate to a specific forum (US Politics, Canadian Politics, etc) or certain threads, which would allow them to participate elsewhere, while maintaining their little piece of the forum. However, I am a strong proponent of freedom of speech, and I hate censorship - so even in a scenario above, severe restrictions should be imposed on the mods to ensure they don't remove unpopular opinions and or facts.
  3. Soon. The forum upgrade is right around the corner, but it's such a big upgrade, its going to take me a while to get everything sorted out...
  4. Forum upgrade is going to be made very soon... the status updates feature is going away.  Is this a good thing, or a bad thing?

  5. That isn't what happened.
  6. Ummm, not sure about that...
  7. Those are not examples, they're accusations. Buck up or shut up, don't come in my house and accuse me of housing white supremacists. Do it, give me examples or fuck off. Your flippancy isn't helpful at this time. Go away.
  8. You have not, you may believe you have, but you have not.
  9. Where did I say that? I have no idea who you're referring to...
  10. I never censor anyone for what they say—everyone here knows that. However, from time to time, I have to step in and remove certain individuals when their contributions become either gravely disruptive or completely beyond the pale. Trust me, if you get suspended, you know exactly why—it’s never a mystery. There are no victims here.
  11. Thread locked due to poor topic title. Try harder @Deluge
  12. I've only had to threaten to lock a few threads, and in most cases, those warnings were directed at senior members who should know better. Newer members get a bit more leeway, but I still expect them to fix poor thread titles and improve their clarity over time. I've been using a mix of public admonishments, private warnings, and internal alerts to address issues, and I'm still refining the best way to communicate when members need to step up. That said, I’ll be rolling out several new recommendations over the next few months. It’s crucial that we all start paying more attention to thread titles and overall post clarity—otherwise, this forum will lose visibility in Google's search rankings and beyond. The rules and guidelines have also been revamped, and moving forward, there will be a stronger expectation that everyone follows them. I’ll be sharing more details on these updates in the coming weeks and months.
  13. what implementation? I can't force people to write proper titles, but I've been asking those who do a poor job to fix them. There really isn't much to be said in this thread about this recommendation. However, I do see improvements in recent topic titles, so I think the pressure and encouragement is working. I plan on it.
  14. @herbie, lets update that topic title and make it more descriptive:
  15. Nice work everyone! Most of the new forum topic titles are descriptive and well structured.  I appreciate everyone pitching in!

  16. @gatomontes99, come on. Look at the title of this topic...! Fix that please.
  17. Topic has been locked due to poorly structured title. If you don't want this to happen again, create a better topic title next time.
  18. I will begin to lock forum topics that contain a poorly structured title. Give some thought to your title, or your topics will be locked and unavailable.
  19. @Barquentine You thread title was terrible, I've edited it. Make sure to read this recent topic before posting again:
  20. Hey everyone, I've noticed that some topic titles are too vague or unclear, making it harder for others to understand what the discussion is about. While a creative or mysterious title might seem interesting, it can actually make it more difficult for members to engage with your post. Why does this matter? A clear and descriptive title helps others quickly grasp what your topic is about. It improves engagement—people are more likely to click and participate. It enhances Search Engine Optimization (SEO), making topics easier to find on search engines like Google. It makes the forum more organized and accessible for everyone. Best Practices for Titles: Be specific: Instead of "Wow, did you see this?" → Try "New Policy Proposal on Tax Reform – What Do You Think?" Use key details: Instead of "A Big Problem" → Try "Concerns About New Internet Regulation – Impact on Free Speech?" Avoid clickbait or one-word titles: Make sure the title reflects the discussion topic. This small change makes a big difference for the quality of discussions and the visibility of our community. Let’s all work together to make our forum more engaging and searchable! Thanks! 🚀
  21. Ha, they? It's just me around here! But yes, I disabled search as it was causing server performance issues. Once the new release drops, i'll be doing some server optimization, and the search functionality should return.
  22. We’re experiencing some performance issues with the forum's search feature, which is putting a heavy load on our CPU and database. To ensure a smooth experience for all users, we’ve decided to temporarily disable the search functionality while we work on a more efficient solution. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience. In the meantime, you might try browsing the categories or using other navigation tools on the site to find what you need.
