  1. not sure where you are going with this - best horse, best racquet, best swim suit, best soccer ball, best ribbon wins???...riding horses is regular stuff for those who know about the same. It takes certain skill to first walk a horse, watch someone who has never walked horses prior - they can get hurt, much less to control how it jumps or the speed it goes generally speed is referencing the speed on the ball, birdie...if you watch tennis they usually show how fast the ball is served, for the shuttles it is how fast it travel e.g. a smash travels at the fastest time of 332 km/h v 263 km/h for tennis the point of tennis being slower than badminton. Reaction is faster for badminton also...in other words badminton is a sport terribly UNDER-ESTIMATED, if taken seriously, it is not for the faint hearted - best news it gives great abs.
  2. I like all the sports you mentioned, love horses. But, it is a misconception to rate badminton as slow. I think many people feel the same because it is not promoted as much as other games such as tennis, and it looks rather like an easy "girl" game. I would say at the olympics level perhaps both raquet sport need the same skill set. However, badminton is actually the fastest racquet sport around. The court is smaller, reflexes have to be faster, so players are faster, the shuttles are heck of a lot faster twice faster than squash, and needs plenty of endurance:)I play both tennis, and badminton at some level to get the "wind" knock out of me in badminton. Table tennis is also an excellent sport, until recently I have never played and would also "dislike" it. Now, I can see all sports have their strategies, discipline and skills which is transferable in other sports and in life. Just sayin.

  4. Since I do contribute to the tax system I can also have my say; that sports is an integral part of how we identify, and position ourselves in the world besides keeping fit and reducing burden on the health system. It is no different from landing a plane with Canadian Flag in a different country, or sending mail using stamps. So I support the allocation of funds to sports. It's a time when all Canadians are truly bonded and proud to see their countrymen and women go for the gold. I recall the last winter Olympics, the newspaper ran an article on how to cope with stress when not winning a medal - this was very early in the competition. You are talking about a lot of Canadians being stressed - I understand a few people don't get the sports "fever" and I am optimistic they eventually come around when they are much older and have leisure time to contemplate meaning. I know 'cause I see them at the pool everyday.
  5. For the past week or so there is so much prime time coverage of the US Olympics trials and final names to compete in the 2012 games. Since I am a sports fanatic I am really cluded in the US trials and UK trials also. But, I feel quite like an American supporter I have no idea when we will be introduced to our Canadian team. I meant, are we not proud to show off our athletes or am I missing when the promotions are on
  6. When I use profanity I feel I have let myself down. When others use it around me I feel I know exactly where they stand, they are a let down. As I grown older I find it uncool to use profanity, degrading words in everyday language - I am now a bit sensitive.
  7. RIM is turning out to be another Canadian Nortel. I recall when I changed to iphone in 2011 I jokingly told my good doctor "the good listener" who bought RIM at $70 he'd better sell - I showed him the good product then, the strange thing he sold his stock off at $65 during that week, took the lost. RIM is trading after hours @ $7.86 - I won't even day trade this. I give RIM a year to disappear, 1/2 year ago they could have found a buyer...now well, holy crap
  8. I am an adult and I have seen the first Mean Girls - it is a funny movie. It hits close to home for the teens. To let you know this is my 5th year doing research on youths ages 16-29 for my dissertation and advise to myself, stay very clear of teens and youths, over the years they have become very mean, they are unafraid, they are demanding, they are vicious and believe in their entitlements. However, I do agree women in business do NOT promote other women. Well, only few do and the ones that do promote choose carefully. It is my experience that women feel you have to go though the hardship they did and prove yourself in order to make it to the top. It is no wonder women are not creative they have other priorities such as being too busy protecting themselves. It is a difficult task to work and manage women ... look at the apprentice show.
  9. August this is an interesting take sad but true. First, I do believe based on sheer women population numbers, men will be outnumbered on this women group think, and go along with the ways to women. Men are already becoming effeminate, and will be colonised to ways of women. In essence men will be reduced to the "sub-standard" or standard ways of women think, perhaps then we can see women dominance. While playing sports the other day, a fellow mentioned to me that "women" do not have the "killer" instinct, and are not strong (also meaning spatial)as men. Men have the exploitative instinct to adjust quickly, believe they are much more powerful than women, and can manipulate moves that leads to a winning point quickly. Such is the development of Facebook ranking female beauty (their face) - sort of pitting one female, ranking them against the other. I don't think women have that kind of "je ne sais quoi" to exploit other female this way, and also looking at a bigger picture see it as a business. For other industries such as science and machines, women historically have had limited opportunity to enter these sectors and is seen mostly heading up sort of protest groups to be inclusive in male agenda. The above is my believe. I also think now that women primary instinct is to procreate, and that is the miracle of life itself. The women it seems like she is contented to let the male be ruthless, savvy, creative genius. Plus she spends considerable amounts of time, attention and energy with these offspring with no time to be a creative genius. All she can do while peeling potatoes is perhaps to write some article on the home and eventually become an editor or a receptionist. But, she is happy.
  10. I get this, but I also gotta remain sane.
  11. You are funny that way August. it's weird phases time. Fibonacci is one way to relook at plant, fruits, stars, universe, people, life...it all falls into a natural pattern - law of nature. I wanted to inquire whether fibonacci could fit into my theory of labor and economics...hence my interest I also don't expect you to understand if you don't.
  12. hmmm I can only say that percentage of population that can relate to classical music is low, 1 in 9 ever saw one classical performance. Here is some stats How Many People Participate in Arts and Cultural Activities? So if we disect that stats given, only about 100 of the passerby would have been familiar or vaguely familiar with classical music to recognise the pieces and out of those probably the 6 that stopped to listen would have played classical music, and know a thing of beauty. The folks who actually seen, appreciate, know and play classical music might not be the demographics travelling on the subway. To know a thing of beauty you would have to seen it before, or you would know its face if you are looking, or have an instinct like the young kids.
  13. Ottawa if you want to sleep early, Montreal I love best and can even live there, Vancouver next best when I wish to retire. Toronto because I live here. I love South Africa - what a beautiful place.
  14. I hope the researchers also zoomed in on other variables influencing such "tardy" behaviours of the rich people as the rich is expected to exhibit some of this behaviour - example driving a fancy car - the "poor" yield to the fancy car whether it is time to go or not at the stop
  15. I wrote here prior - now I don't know where it went... Anyway, I fell asleep first time watching tree of life. Later I saw it again and had a fit with fibonacci series that last for days The help was a good worthy film. Hope it wins.
  16. That is a very good way to be Argus - kudos. I have still in all my life never seen any these drugs except in pictures, and I don't think I have missed anything. Family is important in this way so good for you. One thing that was consistent with stars and their drug habits is that they were surrounded by lots of people, so called friends and usually family is remove from their environment. It is sad lost of talent.
  17. My motto for this trading: If you don't have money to lose don't trade.

I think I caught this movie on TVO over the holidays - it had subtitles I got caught up and actually watch it over an hour - it was definitely different - ridiculous but that was the point of watching it - however I gave it up to watch "Margin Call" - was good I thought - choose between making a business decision or have a moral compass.
  19. Well there are some folks who vouch that women consumption of pills might contribute to you being fat. For example if 12 million women throw 6 estrogens tablets into the water system today - you men become more effeminate and like the ladies become fat. Fluoride in your water system also is link to making you fat Just some other reasons that conspire to keep you fat
  20. I don't believe in force marriages. However, some cultures do practice arrange marriages akin to mail order brides, finding your Philippines bride, Russian bride, or royalty marrying their own. These marriages seem to last. I don't have the stats but a lot of those marriages survive the over 50% divorce. I see nothing wrong with arrange marriages if the person is given a choice but wishes their parent to choose for them.
  21. Well if these institutions don't have AAA ratings their products are not sold in some market space, e.g. affects the insurance side of the business. The financial section is a heavy weight in the market, these ratings tell on the stock prices, and it affects the entire global economy. Recently, BAC (trading just around $5 was $19 not so long ago), GS (now $89, year ago $175), CITI (reverse split their stock now trading in the $20's) stocks have been sliding downwards in the past year. Seems to me this is bad news for the banks. Brace yourself for some not so good news.
  22. I readily admit I don't know my drinks, and I behave rather badly. But, these social media lets your friends know of your whereabouts instantly, a friend text to get the good deal.
  23. It's blue. Good on you with Bruichladdich. you must appreciate the good stuff.
  24. I picked up 2 Johnny Walker at Piarco airport while in transit $75 US
