It's also the reason SFO is such a disaster in poor weather. As soon as IFR approaches are required, it becomes a one runway airport.

That's how it is done but they tell you to expect the sidestep beforehand. The runways are too close for parallel approaches so it allows them to run aircraft much closer together on the same approach. Seems to me that it was always the approach to 26R with a sidestep to 26L. From the article it looks like he lined up on the taxi way to the right of 26R. I don't get that.

I wonder. Not easy to confuse a runway with a taxi way at night in good visibility. Don't know how familiar you are with SFO but the parallels are very close together and it is common practice to fly the ILS on one runway then be side stepped to the other inside the marker.

I don't see any difference either but I think maybe we are in danger of making "terrorist" too broad a definition. I don't have a problem with police doing due diligence before applying that label in every case, not just this one.

Motive is what defines an attack as terrorist. Most incidents of nut cases intentionally running over pedestrians aren't terrorist attacks. Unlike the previous two attacks, this guy didn't jump out and start stabbing people. I don't think the police were out of line in not broadcasting an immediate conclusion, regardless of what they might have initially thought.

It works both ways, all the citizens of EU members have the right to travel and work in any EU country. It is about making people more free, not dictating to nations. Improvements need to be made in how people are allowed into the EU itself, not individual countries.
Anyway, with BREXIT this will become a non issue for the UK, but so will all the advantages of EU membership.
