CETA will be a good deal for US car companies. They will now be able to export 100,000 Canadian built cars a year to the EU avoiding the 10% existing tarif.

You can't import milk or poultry but you can go to the US as a private citizen and pretty much bring back as much as you want with no tax or tarrif.

Actually there will be a lot more than nothing to begin with and more to follow. The US is far more protectionist in agriculture through its use of subsidies alone.

The numbers show that Trump's assertion the US is getting hosed by Canada in NAFTA is complete bullshit. As well as manufactured goods, we are your biggest marked for agricultural products.

Canadian exports to the US in 2015 were 295 billion. 77 billion of that was oil and gas. US exports to Canada were 280 billion, mostly manufactured goods. Who stands to lose the most?

That's why we are working on changing that. It's not a good strategy in the long run. We will likely see more agreements made without the US.

The US has a trade deficit with 90% of the worlds countries. It's deficit with Canada is mostly due to oil and gas imports. Getting rid of NAFTA won ' t change that. 19% of US total exports are to Canada, mostly manufactured goods.Getting rid of NAFTA will change that. Our free trade agreement with the EU will change it even more.
