Britain and Ireland end their covid mandates.
-TSS- replied to taxme's topic in The Rest of the World
Difficult to say. If you take the vaccine you can always argue in its favour; If you take the vaccine and don't get sick it is because of the vaccine. If you take the vaccine but get sick without the vaccine you would have ended up in hospital. If you take the vaccine and get sick and end up in hospital without the vaccine you would have died. Etc -
When the European explorers went to Africa to colonize the continent they laughed at how the natives had ridiculous superstituos rituals and other kind of mambojambo to keep the bad spirits away. Can we still laugh at them considering how unquestionably we follow our own rituals?

Have the truckers already been called Putin's trolls? In Europe they certainly would. That is what you get called nowadays if you disagree with the government.
-
Without truckers societies would grind to a halt. Without government, would anybody even notice any difference?

Aren't they going to be tomorrow in Ottawa? So it's make or break.

How do you get people to accept a jab once a year? By saying first that they must have one every three months but then saying perhaps once a year would be enough.

Many people have taken the jab only because they didn't want to be relegated to a second class citizen-status. All for nothing. -

This is just a short respite I'm afraid. However, this is basic psychology. The government gives people back their freedom which belongs to them anyway and people are thankful to the government. -
It surely was a mistake to compare the unvaccinated to the Jews in the 1930s Germany. That was always going to trigger a furious backlash even from people who would otherwise agree with you. It would have been wiser to use the comparison of the Russian gulags where all unwanted people were sent to. Nobody would have been triggered by that comparison.

The hate-mongering against the unvaccinated has reached a level that people actually hope that the unvaccinated would die or at least become very seriously ill. When you tell those people about cases where people over 50s who have not been vaccinated and have smoked all their adult lives have caught the virus and are back at work after a week you can sense the disappointment with those people who so maliciously hope that the unvaccinated people would die.

Omicron seems to be very mild. A lot of my work-mates have caught the virus but are back at work after a week. It seems that the first variant in the spring of 2020 was the bad one when even Boris Johnson ended up in ICU. When very important people who most certainly don't have to wait for their turn at the back of the queue almost die then you ask what is going to happen to ordinary people.

Mandatory Covid vaccination in Canada now a possibility.

If there is a virus that is one which has made some people completely lose their minds! Made them gone mad! That's the only conclusion one can make of what has happened recently. -

This can't go on like this. People who are not vaccinated at all could be discriminated against to a certain point but if you keep on moving the goal-posts so that for example two jabs won't be enough even though it was enough earlier and you need another, people will soon get tired of it all. -

Is it possible for former Presidents to run for Congress? It is certainly unusual but is it even permitted especially in the case of former two-term Presidents? -

They say that you really shouldn't go to the test unless you really believe you've got the virus. That's because on one hand we should avoid congesting the system from unnecessary testing, it is crowded enough already, but on the other hand there are those other people there many of whom really got the virus so in the worst case you didn't have the virus when you went to the test but you've got it when get get back from the test. -

This intentional hate-mongering towards the unvaccinated is very worrying. I guess it is silly to draw comparisons between now and the 1930s but you just can't help thinking about the similarities between the times. -

French President says that the unvaccinated people should not be considered even citizens any more. The vaccination-rate in France is 90%. Why is Macron so afraid of 10% of the population? The tone in which Macron speaks about the unvaccinated would be considered totally unacceptable towards life-sentence prisoners who have in reality killed a lot of people unlike the unvaccinated people. -
China is what one could really describe as a national socialist system but for obvious reasons such a term is not used. Yet, the system is strongly centrally-led mixture of ultra-capitalism and state-led economy with huge nationalistic priority and of course a strong belief that they are superior to the rest of the world.

It seems that the vaccine-passport is the stupidest experiment that has happened for a long time. With this omicron which spreads among the vaccinated as well places where you can only enter with the vaccine-passport have become worst spots of infections. I have a work-mate who is in his 50s he had no vaccination and he has smoked all his adult-life and he got the virus. He was back at work after seven days. People like him are the ones whom vaccination-fanatics absolutely hate. Some people openly wish for the death of unvaccinated people. Such hatred is openly encouraged. -

This time last year I knew nobody who would have had the virus. Nowadays there have been a lot of infections at my own workplace. It is somehow reassuring to see them coming back in one piece. Some of them are back at work only after seven days but there are also others who have been away for over three weeks now. However, even those who have made the fast recovery have also said that had temperature for 2-4 days and absolute weakness to do anything. Makes kind of question the idea of asymptomatic infection. If you catch the virus you get sick. It seems quite implausible that you could get the coronavirus and not even notice it. -

Don't fall for this vaccinated vs unvaccinated juxtaposition. It is deliberate attempt of sowing of discord among the population. The feud only exists on the social media. Not in real life. -

When you think about the vaccine-passport with the QR-code on your phone one can't help thinking that this wouldn't have been technically possible only some years ago. Similarly, can't help thinking when technology develops what kind of things will become possible in the future. -

This shit-show will go on to the unforeseeable future. Just get used to it. It goes up and down and people are pushed to the point of desperation that if only they do as they are told they can have their old life back. Go to the pub, take a foreign holiday, meet their friends without counting how many people there are etc. But unfortunately it is not going to end. We have clearly entered some new era and the old world is gone forever. -

Had you asked two years ago if somebody was vaccinated they would have have asked vaccinated for what. Nowadays there is the vaccine. Not a vaccine.
