Since when does 33=hundreds? And how many far right attacks on synagogues and temples? Hate is not a Right or Left wing ideology. You know better but lie to support your extreme partisanship. "Arson Statistics: Out of the 33 churches destroyed by fire, investigators ruled 24 as deliberately set Police have made arrests in several cases—with 12 people charged as of January 2024 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the burnings as "unacceptable,"

Americans vs Canadians -What's the difference?
Barquentine replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Well, there's more similarities than differences between us. -
So the idea should be that we tax money, not people. But when we tax the very poor, that is taxing on them as people who already can't afford a good life. But if a billionaire had to pay an extra 2% they would still have $980,000,000. Think that's enough to buy groceries? Why did Warren Buffett say he should be taxed more?

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/apr/10/cdc-chief-covid-vaccine "Research by CDC scientists found that the Covid vaccine cut the likelihood of emergency room visits and hospitalizations for healthy adults last winter by about half, according to reporting from the Washington Post." But of course Trump's CDC pick wants to bury the research. -
Prayer? Humans can't stand the fact that we don't know why and how we are here only to die. So we invent and call it Faith and our Faith makes it real. For some. Or maybe: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" We're only talking to ourselves, looking for comfort. Hope, not Faith, is the best of human mindsets.

Cautious optimism an antidote to nihilism

Can't believe I'm saying this but I kind of agree with you. Still, my epitaph will read: "What was the point?" -
A lot of that difference is because of sectoral tariffs, steel, aluminum, copper and lumber..., all of which we normally export MUCH more to the US than Mexico. And also the 'Buy Canadian' push. And how much of that will be picked up by trade with other countries? Agriculture and seafood to China for example. The US will come back to normalcy soon.

Another Conservative Defects to Carney
Barquentine replied to BeaverFever's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This one does seem like an opportunist. But not because she was offered something. She clearly doesn't want to spend 7 more years in opposition. But after 4 defections, it's time for the Cons to start asking why and make the necessary changes. If they can't do that they might as well break apart - back to the Cons and Reform party, 'cause their coalition just ain't workin'. -

That's how all North American auto factories work. AI: "Parts for American auto manufacturing primarily come from a tightly integrated North American supply chain, with Mexico being the largest source of imported parts ($81 billion in 2023), followed by Canada. Significant components also come from Japan, South Korea, and China, especially for electronics and specialized materials." -

So we shouldn't allow any foreign automakers in North America? AI: "Many foreign automakers—primarily Toyota, Honda, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Hyundai—manufacture vehicles in North America, with major plants in the U.S. South, Canada, and Mexico." -

AI The Roman Empire lasted for nearly 500 years in the West (27 BC – 476 AD) and over 1,400 years in the East (until 1453 AD). While often cited as ending in 476 AD, the empire continued as the Byzantine Empire in the east, lasting until Constantinople fell in 1453 And they were so fukking rich! "I didn't realize the Romans walked on the moon, developed nuke energy and buffalo wings... " Well Duh, FFS. And the Egyptions didn't watch Youtube. You didn't understand what I said? You can only judge an empire's technology on what was available at the time "The Roman Empire was colonial but certainly not Global." Nothing was but the Romans controlled pretty well every advance society at the time, for a long time. Wikipedia: The Roman Empire was a state that controlled the Mediterranean and much of Western Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa during the classical period. And they didn't have any serious rivals for centuries. The Us has depended on Nato for 80 years and are now being matched or overtaken by China in some ways.
