  1. Its pretty simple.. If you truly want to avoid outcomes like this, do not go to the rally and participate. Stay home and problem solved.
  2. So if you saw a drag queen on the street and you had never seen them before (and therefore actually knew zero about them)... would you leave them alone? or would you walk up and confront them about being a groomer and such other nonsense?
  3. I have a simple belief... all humans are flawed. No matter the race, religion, geography, time, etc.. all are flawed. A lot of folks (and I get this vibe from you as well) contend that being Conservative and/or white precludes you from being flawed. The flaws in humanity can be traced back to them brown skinned folks.
  4. believe it or not.. the "slave owners" were 100% white, conservative, and religious. I still find it confounding how they can be so Conservative and then justify this.. Another insight from those days... 4 summers and never once did one of them mention American politics. I did and can speak fluent Spanish. I worked with them not above them... so we talked about all sorts of things.. their homes in Mexico, women, beer, soccer, music, etc. but never American politics.
  5. Probably not a lot of american college football fans. However, if you are, get ready for the return of the Colorado Buffaloes to the big stage. Deion Sanders and company will be playing for a national championship by next year. Also, we might be seeing the end of the South dominating the sport. No longer do you need to play for Georgia, Alabama, Florida, or Mississippi to get the necessary exposure to be a solid NFL draft prospect.
  6. When I helped out family friends in the potato fields of Eastern Idaho (early 90's)... they hired almost exclusively illegal immigrants. One of their reasons is that illegal immigrants do not demand benefits or pay raises. If you hire a legal immigrant.. over time, they want these things. The illegal knows that if they complain, they are out of work ten minutes later. I am going to be interested to see if this is still in place or if they went the route of automation.. going to be in Eastern Idaho in mid-November.
  7. Care to guess at how they formulate this list? what data do they use? It comes from the Census...
  8. This is somewhat misleading. Most cities are Democrat or LIberal by their very nature. Even if the rest of the state votes Red... the cities/counties that are highly populated are blue.. Look at the maps of Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and New Mexico. The majority of their counties are rural and therefore Conservative. The counties that have their one or two major cities... are blue.
  9. If I was homeless... I would rather be in SF, LA, Reno, or SD than Bottineau, ND. Greater access to jobs, resources, programs in SF than Bottineau.
  10. Your bias gets in the way of any type of objective analysis.
  11. I am not Canadian.. is that simple enough? I live in Nevada.
  12. I distinctly remember someone on this forum stating it was unacceptable that someone who does not like the gay parade should have to avoid it and not have access to those few roads for 6 hours. I thought it was you but can't seem to locate the post so I will just say it was someone on here.
  13. The reason is that in most small towns, the only jobs are tied to ranching/farming, retail, and small time restaurants. None of which do you make very high wages. therefore, that leaves everybody in the same socio-economic plane. In a place like Seattle.. there is more population, more stuff, and a greater discrepancy being the highest earners and lowest than what you would find in a place like Bottineau, ND or Gabbs, NV
  14. Maybe not for free but access to more programs, resources, etc. A more progressive city is going to have a larger amount of time, energy, and resources dedicated to this problem. The reason that you see more homeless in Seattle than in Bottineau, ND has nothing to do with being morally superior.
  15. the reason that working class joe from Hot Springs, AR or Elko, NV does not run for President and win.. money. it takes money to run a campaign. Also, while you are campaigning you are not earning wages so you have foregone wages. Lastly, working class Joe does not have the years of practice being disingenuous and clever with their wording. Being too direct and/or objective does not help you in politics.
  16. I work intimately with the LAUS data.. do you know what this is? I bet that you do not .
  17. There is a difference between Seattle (more progressive) and Cheyenne, Wyoming (less progressive). There are going to be more programs/resources available for someone in Seattle than Reno or Cheyenne. That changes how someone would use the money or even want it.
  18. So we had a gay pride parade that shut down a 5 x 7 block of downtown (not the most highly trafficked area) for 6 hours. That is unacceptable apparently. Now, we have a rib cook off that has a 10 X 5 block radius blocked off for 7 entire days.. That is fine. Only someone without incredible bias can see the irony in this.
  19. civil (not criminal) law does not protect you from running your mouth. If Giulani had not used their names and would have said "Election workers in GA" and therefore made it anonymous.. this conversation does not happen.
  20. Yes, or at least they should have a working class background. I may have a Phd in economics but spent from ages 12 to 29 working on a ranch, restaurants, warehouses, manufacturing, and concrete.
  21. Most homeless are not there due to simple bad luck. Mental illness and its close cousin drug addiction are often why you become homeless or stay homeless. Having been homeless and lived on the streets for 8 weeks once.. I have firsthand knowledge where no one else on this forum does. My situation was simple poor planning and bad luck. My rough estimate is that 90% of those I encountered in SLC in 1999 where there due to drug addiction and/or mental illness. Had someone given me $7500... I would have fixed my junker 1977 VW rabbit and left town. Once back home in Boise.. I would get an apartment and load up on food, tools, etc. However, I was not on the streets due to spending all of my money on drugs or alcohol. For the majority of the 8 weeks, I was as sober as can be.
  22. Criminals do not care about politics... therefore tying the two together is for fools. Crime is correlated with poverty and perceived economic opportunities. The reason that you find crime in SF but not Norris, MT is not a matter of politics...
  23. Simple question.. Have you read Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond?
  24. Can you give us exact, technical, provable details about how they play with the unemployment numbers? No opinions, no links, no rhetoric.
  25. In one of your last posts.. you contend that I am a Canadian liberal. You wrote it not me...
