I don't think the liberals wanted to go to the polls. I think they just knew that the other parties wouldn't yet. And they did back down on a couple of things and gave the NDP a couple of bones and gave Elizabeth me enough to get through the vote The bottom line is if an election is called the public will decide someone is at fault. It is not crystal clear who they would pick on although the liberals are definitely a possibility. In the spring they're supposed to either be a new budget or an economic update.
