Spike in the numbers of Covid cases in hospitals and deaths
herbie replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Like lock downs, social distancing, masking and mass vaccinations, eh? You suddenly agree.... and good luck with your insurance claim when you don't agree with seat belts or helmets. -
Cars; the Glory of the Malaise Era

Daughter's got an Escape hybrid. Dealer offered her sister in law such an insulting trade in she flipped him the bird walked across the street and bought a Jeep. Gave her the thing. Went dead last year, same dealership claimed it was hybrid battery, $10,000 job. Her F.I.L found out on YouTube there's a reset button.... $0 fix. But it's now having serious rust issues. Giving her my old Saturn Vue. I'll be down to 1 car a Wrangler with God awful gas mileage. -

I'm not trying to pick on Stellantis, Dad was a Dodge guy since he sold his HenryJ when he married. I've owned mostly Chrysler stuff including rebadged Sunbeams and Mitsubishis. All the Big3 were off to slow starts and misfires. GM tried to drop the Bolt and waved the EV flag over the damn new Hummer (stupid beyond belief) and Ford is still touting the Mustange and F150 Lightning. My kid has a 2nd hand Escape hybrid Ford did next to nothing to promote. Just read a Motormouth bit saying 47% of PHEV owners don't plug their vehicles in every night and a surprising number don't plug them in at all. Seeing as I only know 2 PHEV owners who wouldn't pass up what they consider 'free mileage', I was surprised. -
Punish! Punish! Punish! What's the point of law if the punishment is not sever enough! As I said before you propose: The less than a year old partially implemented program hasn't already solved everything 100% - we must go back what didn't work for 100 years! As no one is dying from safe supply drugs or in safe sites, what kind of m0ron keeps insisting they are to blame for overdose deaths? You have the proof that the people who want to participate in them don't die and keep attempting to claim the unacceptable behaviours and death of those who don't or won't use them is some sort of proof they should end those programs. You got TWO choices Invent some drug that cures addiction with a single shot and force them to take it, or get to the root of the problem WHY are they taking drugs they know could kill them and fix it. As poverty and social isolation are most of it, we're simply not willing to.,

Hate to point out that if you use drugs and where you use them are two different things. The new legislation fills a different need, without mentioning we're talking about people who's brains are turned to shit and act like pigs even more than the averagel dunderhead. Shooting up and nodding out in front of schools and leaving needles in the playground were not part of either legalization or decriminalization. But of course some can't discuss that issue on it's own, they have to sensationalize and try to indicate it is some sort of failure on the part of something else.....

Canada applauds NAFTA decision on U.S. softwood ...
herbie replied to herbie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, but it's an actual issue that affects the economy and 100,000 Canadian jobs. That can't be blamed on Trudeau, so witness the single response. Let's go back to Drag queens and wokeness and issues the board members care about. -

Yep there we go, only leftists would wear a helmet on a motorbike, a life jacket in a boat or a seat belt in their car. They don't wear it out of common sense, they do it because of fear, the dictatorial mandates must be obeyed. -

Which means if you're older you're a total fool not to take precautions. That is all that statement means. -

Yeah, heard that pitiful excuse a lot over the last few years. Asked a woman who didn't vax because she was "protected by the blood of Jesus" if He looked both ways for her crossing the street too. -

Thank you for a post I will agree with almost 100% I wouldn't worry too much over Thanksgiving gatherings, but yes if you're older or compromised in any way you should begin to take precautions. As my doctor said, when they talk about those 'over 50, theyre talking about YOU a long time ago! The latest multivax will be here in a week or so and I gotta go to the clinic anyways for routine blood tests... -
You mean defending all the 'conervatives' who insist the govt should do something about the cost of housing? IOW interfere with the Free Market? Like the local dotards who always vote Tory because 'they'll give us more grant money'? The entiore problem boils down to some people have access to and will pay you $1 million for your home, and you'd be a fool to turn it down. Your great grandparents would've refused to pay absurd mortgages and rents, taken their whole families and camped out in Hoovervilles in front of govt offices all over the country, not giving a shit if that was 'leftist' or 'rightwing', but because it would get action.
