  1. How is Ontario treated differently under the law? Ontario signed the same constitution as the other eight provinces. Quebec gets 7 billion more in federal transfers in spite of having less than 60% of the population. $3149 per capita vs $1575. That goes a long way toward supporting its social programs. Manitoba and the Maritime provinces get more per capita, Ontario, Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and NFLD all get about the same as each other.
  2. Quebec still gets transfers from the feds, same as all the other provinces. Coverage also varies from province to province. I posted the link. The fact Quebec gets special treatment under the law is a source of friction in this country.
  3. The current director was appointed by Trump.
  4. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/programs/federal-transfers.html
  5. No we don't, health care is provincial. The provincial governments get transfers from the feds but the province decides how they are spent. If we are not discussing health care, why did you name the topic, private healthcare.
  6. Four of the last five and the last two FBI directors were appointed by Republican presidents.
  7. Actually, we have provincial single payers.
  8. Wow, who would have thought so many people would get so bitter and twisted about something so trivial as what someone like Arden thinks.
  9. True. The 2 new AF1's were originally supposed to be just over 3 billion. Trumps personal 757 first went into service in 1993 and had 3 previous owners.
  10. You seem really upset. Why do you care so much what she does?
  11. Like I said, I don't care what airline she uses. Maybe it isn't different. Do you enjoy them? JT didn't have access to government aircraft before he became PM. All MP's fly commercial between Ottawa and their ridings. PP isn't special.
  12. Like I said, what she does is her business and I really don't care. I also don't blame PP for taking advantage of the opportunity. I just don't think airlines should be inflicting political messages on their passengers or giving politicians PA time on their flights.
  13. I don't care what Arden does. If you think PP will be flying commercial if he becomes PM, you are a fool.
  14. Ya, airlines shouldn't be doing this kind of thing. It's not like people can get up and leave if they don't want to listen to the guy. The PA overrides all the entertainment systems so people watching a movie would have to sit there and listen to PP instead. Not cool WJ.
  15. Democracy is such a drag to the MAGA cult.
  16. The cost to replace them was up to 5.2 Billion USD in 2019. The first isn't to be delivered until 2024. God knows what the final cost will be. The two in use now will have been in service 34 years by then.
  17. WW1 would have likely ended in stalemate and a negotiated peace, not a Versailles treaty that guaranteed WW2. Churchill maintained that US entering WW1 was a big negative because of that.
  18. The two B747's used as Airforce One are only a couple of years newer than our CC-150's.
  19. They are providing it. If I buy something for someone, I'm providing it. I still don't know why you would even make a point of bringing it up. Like the government is personally building our new fighters and frigates.
  20. Well I don't know what your point is. Of course it is done by companies and those companies also sub contract work to other companies. Even if you "build" your own home you are either hiring a contractor to do the whole project and look after subbing out jobs to other independent contractors or will have to do that yourself unless you personally so proficient in all the trades that you can do them yourself.
  21. https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/connect-to-innovate/en/connect-innovate-program-project-status-updates Of course government doesn't physically install it any more than they do any other government infrastructure projects.
  22. Which will help accelerate the move away from fossil fuels.
  23. Probably a peaceful transition to independence and a parliamentary government. But maybe a bunch of independent states rather than a single country.
  24. World Cup is on in France. Some good matches so far, Wales vs Fiji yesterday was awesome and went right down to the end. England vs Argentina and South Africa vs Scotland were also very good.
  25. These aircraft are the same age as our newest CF-18's.
