If it is just for his use as president to be put on display when he leaves office, it is for his personal use and the hundreds of millions spent on it to bring it up to AF1 standard will be wasted. If it is to be used by future presidents there may be a justification for it. If Boeing is having trouble sourcing some of the components required to complete the two new ones, why would it be any easier to get them for this aircraft? There is no guarantee the conversion of this one will be finished by the time he leaves office. What then? If the aircraft is really owned by the airforce it isn't his choice to take it with him, it belongs to the people of the US. You keep saying it doesn't belong to him and then you say he can do what he wants with it. Make up your f*cking mind. Maybe JT should have been able to take the new exec A330 when he left office. What's the difference?

It is for him to use as president and put in his library when he is out of office. It is a gift to him, personally or at least he thinks it is. If it wasn't, it would continue to be used as AF1 after he left office and any decision to put it in a presidential library when it is retired would be made by Congress, not a president like he owns the thing. Everything you have said is just an excuse for Trump's grift.

Purely for his benefit and ego. No you didn't. None of those things were for their personal benefit. They got nothing out from them. This aircraft is nothing but a Trump ego trip. The existing aircraft may be old but they are very low time compared to ones in airline service and perfectly serviceable until the new ones arrive. You will justify any sleezy thing Trump does. You have no standards whatsoever when it comes to that man. He can do anything he wants and you will blindly go along with it. In future, don't complain about government waste because you will justify of condemn it based purely on partisanship.

Right, so there is no point in spending $100's of millions to convert this one and then stick it in a museum when you could just put one of the old ones in the museum. This one probably won't be ready before Trump leaves unless they short cut it so much it won't have the capability of the existing aircraft. So you can't find any. What it boils down to is you will justify anything Trump does, regardless of the expense or need.

A Memorial Day Message from the President
Aristides replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I don't care if you are left or right, you are a disgrace. -
When you spend hundreds of millions on a presidents ego trip, it's a vanity project. If they want to put an AF1 at his library, use one of the existing aircraft when it is retired. At least it will be a real AF1 that has served multiple presidents. The Trump Cult would be apoplectic if something this was done by a Democrat president.

A Memorial Day Message from the President
Aristides replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
That's just pathetic. The people who died for your country mean nothing to you other than being able to use their day to spew your hate. -
Well if this thing is going to his library, it's just a vanity exercise at the expense of the taxpayer. If it is to serve as AF1 for the next 15 to 20 years, it might be worth the investment. Even if it is completed in two years, it will still be a 15 year old airframe when it does go into service. That's reality. The Trump Cult doesn't care about reality. You aren't one to be preaching honesty.

A Memorial Day Message from the President
Aristides replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Memorial Day isn't about Trump or any other politician. It isn't about grinding political axes or for you to use as a platform. It's about recognizing the people who died serving their country, all of them, regardless of their personal beliefs or politics. You are f*cking pathetic, it's no wonder you idolize a scumbag like Trump. -
A Memorial Day Message from the President
Aristides replied to Deluge's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Memorial day is about recognizing the people who were willing to do what Trump would not and paid the ultimate price for it. Instead he makes it a campaign speach and you cheer his hypocrisy and bullshit. What does that say about you. -

Parliament dissolves when an election is called and resumes after a new government is formed. Nothing different here. As a matter of fact it is resuming earlier than normal after an election because the campaign only lasted the minimum time allowed by law. After Harper was elected in late January 2006, Parliament didn't sit until early April. If you look back, a month between an election and parliament's first sitting is pretty standard.

If people don't buy US products there is no need for tariffs. Carney is putting a hold on tariffs for the same reason as Trump, they damage the economy. The power of the PMO has been a problem for a long time, It didn't just start now or with this PM. I'm in a wait an see mode, it's only been a month since the election and parliament hasn't even sat yet.

You don't know what's going to happen and neither do I. Anyone who would want to join that gong show going on south of us is a complete maroon. We can change our government but become part of the US behemoth and we would have next to no influence at all. The US is dragging the rest of the world down these days.

Why is Canada such a mess in so many ways?
Aristides replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm just saying we aren't unique when it comes to drug overdoses. We had over 8000 overdose deaths last year, they had 70,000. About the same per capita.
