  1. The NDP isn't dangerous simply because they have *NO* chance of forming government in this election. They never have in any Canadian election.
  2. What the hell does any of this post mean? I find myself unable to stoop to the low level of writing incumbent in this drivel.
  3. I think Duceppe will work quite well with PM Harper. Quite interesting how this election is going against the Liberals. Their cry of *scary* *scary* *scary* are going to be replaced by "Harper is going to work with the separatists." Get the point Liberals. Canadians will want the next minority parliament ot function. They would rather have Harper work with Duceppe than have Martin work with nobody. Buh bye PM PM. Good work avenging your father.
  4. By cracking down on the illegal guns coming in from the U.S. and more strictly enforcing the laws on the books the Conservatives will take action to reverse the tide in the U.S. The Libeals have proposed nothing to deal with the increasing levels of violence in Canadian big cities in the last 12 years. Their plan to ban handguns is totally off point. It wouldn't have helped prevent the tragedy on Boxing Day. Really quite sad that a young girl had to suffer such a needless death.
  5. The Conservative plan is also more fair because it doesn't penalize parents for choosing to stay at home with their children...
  6. There is a lot of other ignorant stuff on that blog. Why does the guy have to refer to Jaffer as an "ethnic"? What a professional way to refer to the leader of the NDP? Why exactly is Layton an a**hole? Only helped prop up the Liberal government for 18 months and not the *entire* time the Martinites wanted his help? Appears the story is starting to be spun of another piece of evidence of the Liberals arrogance and culture of entitlement. The only thing I agree with Klander`s blog is when he questions the likelihood of a Liberal breakthrough in B.C.
  7. August, This story is getting relatively big play from the centre-left of the Canadian MSM. Links are on the main page of the Star, Globe and Mail, CTV and CBC web sites.... Sadly this story will mostly be lost in the holiday clutter, but when they are writing stories of where the Liberals went wrong in the campaign of 2005-06 this will be another brick in the wall.
  8. Interesting hypothesis. I think *when* the Conservatives win the house will sit in February. They will want to get on their agenda as soon as possible. The Conervatives have seen the Liberals ads, and are ready for them. There doesn`t appear to be too much in them that will be unexpected. They will fight back, but keep on the policy-driven campaign. I think that is the best strategy for them to follow. They are doing everything right so far. If the public doesn`t warm to Harper with the campaign he has been running they never will. No reason to get nervous and try and cobble together a new strategy at this point.
  9. Monty, I agree with many of the things in your post, but you are missing a very big point. You are attacking Dornan for understating the bias of the CBC, agreed. However, you are guilty of the same thing on the right side of the spectrum. Maclean`s has definitely become right of centre. Maclean`s does have a political agenda. That we *both* agree with their agenda doesn`t mean that there is no agenda. You are clearly acting like the *worked up right winger* to which Dornan refers. Relax! The MSM is giving the Conservatives the best coverage the Canadian right has received in an election since 1988. Take your victories where they come and don`t rock the boat. You could go for the moral victory, but remember moral victories are for chumps...
  10. Mike Klander is Executive Vice-President of the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario) Here is a link for you ... as requested. http://www.lpco.ca/en/?ID=1
  11. Good post. Merry Christmas everyone. Let`s remember this cordial spirit a week from now when the real nastiness begins...
  12. True, but you are missing a key point. Rinehart is not a *pundit*. Nothing in her bio states a present, or past, affiliation with the Liberal Party of Canada. Theoretically a member of the *objective* corps of journalists.
  13. How about a quote of some kind? Not defending him necessarily, just find your claims a little less plausible...
  14. How about actually posting something objectionable from Adler and Jackson's columns instead of leaving it up to us to take your word for it? Besides, Stan didn`t start a thread "Martin: The new height of hypocrisy" did he? Take a look at the title of this thread.
  15. Any support to contradicting Argus`s claims, or "as far as I know" the best you can come up with?
  16. Wow. So it is the Conservative`s fault we are in the middle of a Xmas election??? That is right out of the Liberal`s talking points. No one from credible sources is touting this line. No wonder this hack is stuck in Hamilton.
  17. Alas, that is the key. Who decides what wage level allows people to "live their lives in dignity and with a sense of self-worth"? The market finds those people who will do the jobs for the lowest possible expense to the employer. That is the best way to decide.
  18. So somebody who isn`t a *social democrat* is advocating a *return to the dark ages*? I find it very ironic that a thread started out as somebody commenting on people purposely mislabelling the NDP has resorted to such a histrionic outburst by a dyed-in-the-wool ND supporter. sorry OP
  19. Funny - ha ha, like Martin`s claims to be Captain Canada *OR* Funny - peculiar/strange like Jack Layton`s porn star moustache?
  20. Better it stays with the NDs than it goes to the Liberals. Stick to it though. In spite of the oncoming wave of the CPC is *scary* *scary* *scary* ads from the Liberals. as much as I would like to see it, there is basically *ZERO* chance for a CPC majority, so that shouldn`t even be in the equation for making a decision.
  21. Bakunin, most people deny the allegations involved. This isn`t the case with the Saguneens in Quebec. Are you just bitter because there weren`t many qualified Quebeckers on the team? And the selection committe used ability instead of province of origin as a determining factor in making their choice? ps. Doan is a Christian and *vehemently* denies making the comment. pps. "bigotry" est une adverbe, pas une adjectif. Donc votre usage a ete mauvais.
  22. Both players have the skill and track record that proves they belong on the team. If the attack on Moore hadn`t happened there would be no question about Bertuzzi being on the team. He really is that good. The people picking the team: Gretzky, Kevin Lowe, Pat Quinn (among others) live and breathe hockey. They know pretty much all the players in the league. Their choices definitely were not influenced by "over-exposure".
  23. Hmmm, SES would be more mid-30s for the liberals. Remember because of wasted Liberal votes in Quebec in 1979 they lead by more than four points on election day and still trailed the Conservatives by 22 MPs. The Tories don`t have to be 'ahead in the polls' to form the next government. Believe what you will...
  24. I saw that on CTV and I don`t believe it. I just got back from spending the semester living in Chicoutimi. I went to a couple Saguneens game and never saw that cheer. Never heard of it being done before. Seemed a little convenient...
