  1. What about the racist taunts the Quebecois at the Sagueneens game hurled at Ted Nolan a couple nights ago? Wasn`t that socially acceptable? Why aren`t you posting about that?
  2. I thought you would get the joke. That is all that counts with that post...
  3. I don`t think we will ever know. All we can do is get the Liberals out and stop their corruption. The $1.14 Million that Justice Gomery proved they stole is enough for me.
  4. Bubber, no worries. Slavik ... hmm, I think the NDP`s membership in SI is proof enough of the party`s belief in their socialism. I don`t know why you are making the jump to marxism. But I didn`t, and nobody else on this board appeared to. Appears that you are setting up this false link to marxism because you can`t sustain the charges on socialism alone.
  5. I think CC and scriblett said it all. How about answering their points. Or is a party that openly belongs to socialist international equivalent (on the other end of the scale) to a party with a lot of *fundamentalist nutjobs*. Is there an international organization with that title?
  6. Questioning my balls is a little rude pal. And pretty tough sitting behing a computer screen. Talk to the mainstream of the NDP. Many of them would happily admit to being socialist.
  7. Thanks for that ... admitting that the crazy fundamentalist nutjobs aren`t the mainstream of the CPC.
  8. bakunin, vraiment. Les mots de denis coderre a ete tres stupide. Aujourd`hui Colin Campbell, le president executif de la LHN a dit "Mr Coderre should focus on getting re-elected and not on how we run our business." There is no proof to the accusations about what Shane Doan said. Who deserved to be on the team ahead of Doan? Toute les troiseme membres dans le "taxi squad" est anglophones...
  9. Just kinda sad when a thread started to avoid mislabelling a party automatically degenerates into name calling and mislabelling a different party. I took it as sarcasm, but your comment was bordering on ignant.
  10. Shakey, quit being a biotch.
  11. Sparhawk, I have definitely noticed that trend. Jim Travers in todays Toronto Star also ran a pretty complementary piece on Harper today. Here is the best quote from that piece.
  12. Looks like the Liberals are planning on playing the old scary, scary, scary card again. Just seems like they are saving the money for the attack ads until new year. Maybe it will work, hopefully not. If the election ends up being a fight over who is best able to defend Canada on the national unity file, the Liberals may be in for a bit of a shock.
  13. The unfairness flows both ways. Do you think the NDs are being unfairly singled out? Let`s test your level of fairness. How about we make these changes? "Ever notice that many New Democrat supporters (and Liberal ones as well, though not as much) call the CPC such terms as Fascist, Neo-Cons, Bigots and goodness knows what else. Another scare tactic they use is bringing up the Harris govt from the late 90s. You would think this was the worst govt. ever in the history of the world. I think these people are either misguided or are scared of any inroads that the CPC may make Federally so they fabricate lies and half-truths to scare people from the CPC. These people should be ashamed of themselves.
  14. Quebec is contributing five players out of 26 (including the taxi squad) on the team. That is 19.2% of the team. That is a little less than their 23.4% share of the population (using 2004 census figures.) So interperet that as you will. It is doubtful that he should have gone to jail. Steve Moore, the other player, suffered serious injury but was not almost killed. No apologies for what Bertuzzi did, it was horrendous. But he paid a very large price financially, and personally with his trial and the time away from the sport. Svend Robinson stole a ring worth $21,500 and got basically the same sentence. The bigger question is whether or not people deserve a second chance in life. The incident was almost two years ago now. He has paid for his mistake. He still isn`t assured of a spot on the team. The Canadian Olympic Committee has the final decision.
  15. Imagination-delusion?
  16. What do you mean *the Bloc will almost definitely be the official opposition*. They would have to win every seat they are contesting and have the Conservatives lose a net of 25 seats for that to happen. Where does this come from?
  17. Believe what you want. My French isn`t good enough to dig through Internet archives and find a quote for you.
  18. He supported the CPC in 2004 as well.
  19. Do you have any proof Harper didn`t talk to Grewal? The way it happened was the best thing for the party. No controversy, he just quietly went away. Let`s look at two of Martin's *interventions* in 2004. John Bethel in Edmonton East and Billy Cunningham in Burnaby Douglas. Both Martin stalwarts who helped him when he ran against Chretien. Both were out organized and would have lost a fair nomination battle if it were held. No real principle involved, maybe the principle was if you are a Martin loyalist you don`t have to go through a nomination battle. In light of the above I definitely favour Harper`s approach.
  20. Wow Normie you really are a two-note act. We get the point. The conservatives are the only national party fighting for the traditional definition of marriage (favoured by at least 45% of Canadians) and keeping pot laws where thy are. Don't people with these views deserve to have themselves represented? btw, Harper has not written off Quebec altogether. He has spent much more time there than Martin has spent in Alberta. Why not chastise Martin for ignoring a vitally important province in the Canadian economy.
  21. I find your post symbolic of the Liberals arrogance and fear of applying the same standard to the entire country. Quebec has had *two* failed referendums, yet nobody is calling Boisclair or Duceppe scary for talking about the next referendum. (Maybe they are afraid Boisclair would go on a cocaine induced rampage and kick their butts. The clips of him berating reporters when the cocaine use surfaced were pretty freaky.) The Supreme Court of Canada basically begged off the question of whether or not SSM was guaranteed in the Charter. Harper is making a reasonable point, no matter how many constitutional expertis say it is guaranteed under the charter that hasn't been decided until the Supremes make a decision. Making the Supremes decide will be an interesting case. Pretty sad though. A few Liberal activists working with the GLBT lobby hijcking this thread, but so be it...
  22. That would be the most painful choice of my life if I (still?) lived in Vancouver-Centre. Having to vote Liberal to stop Svend. I guess I would do it, but I would feel really dirty after the fact.
  23. So it appears that even the LPC is contributing to Martin contradicting himself on Iraq. Tonight in the debate Martin said: The following is a quote from a news release the Liberal Party of Canada released tonight, after the debate. Boy that Scott Reid runs a tight ship. Another gaffe by the Liberals media team. The CPC should be thankful for the Liberals pointing out PMs falsehoods so quickly to the media.
  24. Martin has been looking tired. It will be interesting to see how he looks after the Christmas break from campaigning.
  25. How do you define a regressive tax? How is cutting the rate of the GST *more* unfair to the needy and to business? How is cutting the rate of the GST selling out Canada's economic future?
