Should Hamas support rallies in Canada be stopped?

quote The State of Israel was formally established by the Israeli Declaration of Independence on 14 May 1948, and was admitted to the United Nations (UN) as a full member state on 11 May 1949.[1][2] As of December 2020, it has received diplomatic recognition from 165 (or 85%) of the 193 total UN member states, and also maintains bilateral ties with all of the Permanent Five. 28[a] member states have either never recognized Israel or have withdrawn their recognition; others have severed diplomatic relations without explicitly withdrawing their recognition. Additionally, many non-recognizing countries have challenged Israel's existence—predominantly those in the Muslim world—due to significant animosity stemming from the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and the Arab–Israeli conflict.[3] unquote - International recognition of Israel - Wikipedia "Between 1941 and 1945, Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered some six million Jews across German-occupied Europe, around two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population." They certainly have good reason to have their own state back after 2/3 of Europe's Jews were murdered by the Nazis. -

They are supporting Hamas terrorists, which is not the same as a peaceful demonstration such as protesting climate change. -

You are another badly misled commenter. The land has belonged to Israel for several thousand years. They have a right to exist there. They were driven off the land long ago by invaders. It is not an occupation. It is their land. But Muslims are trying to take it from them and have been at war off and on there for centuries. Tens of millions of Muslims already control the countries surrounding Israel, but they are not satisfied. They are not friends of the west. Israel is the only democratic nation in the area and is a friend of the west. -

They are demonstrating in support of a terrorist organization which has committed crimes against humanity this weekend. Hamas has been declared a terrorist organization by the Canadian government. They broke into homes and at point blank shot families to death including older people and children. This is a no-brainer. -
I am not a vax biologist but I think you're making up a lot or are badly misinformed. Covid vaccines are not perfect but they are effective in preventing Covid in many cases and if some get Covid, they are effective in preventing serious illness and death. We were vaxxed and I caught Covid from a relative who I mistakenly hugged when he still had some flem in his chest but probably thought he had nothing, but it was very mild. No temperature and only a mild occasional cough for a few days. I know it was Covid because we used the test kits for Covid which showed positive. Without the vaccines, I might not have survived because of age and seriously compromised health condition. I will continue to get vaxxed and take some safety measures to reduce the chances of catching it. I don't wish to die from some virus that can be prevented. What you do is up to you. There is no loss of freedom.

Liberals and NDP hordes believe in government intervention in the economy and everyday life of everyone. This has been and is a recipe for disaster as we are seeing now with the cost of living spiraling upward, housing out of reach for millions of Canadians and several million depending on food banks that are unable to keep up with it. A nation's wealth is built by private enterprise and hard work, not by government bureaucracy, regulations, politicians and taxes. The extreme red tape, control and meddling in the private sector is really harming everything. Excessive regulations and control is blocking building of homes in towns and cities. NIMBYs and enviro radicals are adding to the problems and prices of everything. IN B.C. one third of the cost of gas is taxes including carbon taxes.

I don't think it is reasonable to blame all the ills of society on one particular group. Everyone is a fallen sinner and contribute to the misery of society. It does not appear many are following the Lord or believing in Christ as Lord and Saviour as per the Bible. All fallen sinners who refuse to believe the gospel are under the control of the Devil and used by him. All need to be redeemed by faith in Christ. Romanism is a false religion. If one is trusting in that system, it is a hopeless effort. A church, priest, sacraments, confessing to a priest (who doesn't have the power to forgive sins) good works, Mary, purgatory (which doesn't exist) cannot save anyone. Only Jesus Christ can save a person.

The title of the article says "The basis for many of our societal problems is absent fathers". While this may be true in a certain sense, I believe it is an oversimplification of the situation. There are many causes for family dysfunction. But the underlying cause is the fall of man as recorded in Genesis ch3. Eve was deceived by the serpent and ate the forbidden fruit and offered some to Adam. Adam simply disobeyed God and ate it. As a result they received a fallen, corrupt nature and that was inherited by all of their ancestors since that time. That resulted in the world becoming a corrupt fallen place and everyone a sinner. There are lots of factors that result in single parents, but it is always sin as the underlying cause. Government cannot solve this one. This is something beyond the power of government to solve. The Catholic church thought they could solve some of it by making divorce illegal and refusing to acknowledge divorce. But they set up a system called annulment where they would examine each case of people wanting to be "unmarried". Then if they decided it warranted annulment, they would make that declaration and the couple would somehow miraculously become as if they were never married. That is called an annulment. But their opposition to divorce and granting annulments solved nothing. Many people in central and south America for instance just split up or the husband moved out and lived with another woman in common law. Secondly often there is abuse of some kind in marriage and you can't force people in abusive or unhappy situations to remain together. There are many women who are murdered by a partner in an abusive relationship. So forcing people to stay together in a unhappy or abusive relationship is very dangerous for many women. These are areas the government has no business and should keep out as far as possible.

Therein the difference in ideology between the conservatives and left/liberals. Liberals and left believe government can solve all problems and create prosperity with taxation and government intervention in the economy and government social programs. True free enterprise conservatives (not progressive fake conservatives) believe only private enterprise creates wealth and prosperity for society as a whole. One thing is clear. Government intervention in everything seems to only create more taxes, increasing size of bureaucracy, and less freedom for everyone. The size of the federal government has increased by at least 25% since Trudeau took office in 2015. That would mean a corresponding increase of the cost of government.

We don't live in a healthy democracy now. Things have gone downhill a long way. Governments have neglected properly funding the Canadian Forces for decades. Liberal pacifist ideology opposes Canada having a strong military. A proper justice system that puts the safety of the public first is also against liberal ideology. Many Canadians have suffered and continue to under the soft-on-crime liberal policies. The mainstream media seems to be largely under the control of the Liberal government. They even gave the media millions of dollars in funding which is the worst thing a government could do. It ensures the media will not be impartial. Fortunately Canada has a large geographic area with lots of valuable natural resources. That is the thing that has made Canadians far more prosperous than much of the rest of the world. Governments didn't make Canadians prosperous; it was all the natural resources, private enterprise and hard work that did it. But we could lose it with government mismanagement and governments trying to create a welfare state and provide everything for everyone as the left is trying to do now. The NDP thinks the answer is in taking the wealth away from the rich and spreading it around and also food and price controls. All this interference in the free market system will do is create a failing system and possibly huge shortages of various foods and other things. Just look at countries that tried that, like Cuba, Venezuela, etc. Investors will just take their investments elsewhere. Food producers are not obliged to sell only in Canada. They could just stop shipping to Canada and sell their goods in the many other countries in the world. That would create shortages here.

Medical assistance in dying is no solution
blackbird replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We live in a period of history that has obviously turned its back on historic Judeo-Christian ethics of right and wrong. This is tragic. I watched a movie a while back about a Christian man who was alive in 1890 and travelled into the future about a century. He spent a four days in the future. He was shocked to see what was happening in society and how the world had changed. You can watch "Time Changer" movie free online at: Bing Videos quote Euthanasia, sometimes called “mercy killing,” can be a difficult issue. On one hand, we do not want to take a person’s life into our own hands and end it prematurely. On the other hand, we do not want to prolong the process of dying more than necessary—that is, we want to preserve life, but not prolong death. At what point do we simply allow a person to die and take no further action to extend his or her life? A related issue is that of assisted suicide. Essentially, a person seeking assisted suicide is seeking to euthanize himself, with the aid of another person to ensure that death is quick and painless. The person assisting the suicide facilitates death by making preparations and furnishing the needed equipment; but the person seeking death is the one who actually initiates the process. By taking a “hands-off” approach to the death itself, the facilitator seeks to avoid charges of murder. Proponents of assisted suicide try for a positive spin by using terms like “death with dignity.” But “death with dignity” is still death, “assisted suicide” is still suicide, and suicide is wrong. We live in what is sometimes described as a “culture of death.” Abortion on demand has been practiced for decades. Now some are seriously proposing infanticide. And euthanasia is promoted as a viable means of solving various social and financial problems. This focus on death as an answer to the world’s problems is a total reversal of the biblical model. Death is an enemy (1 Corinthians 15:26). Life is a sacred gift from God (Genesis 2:7). When given the choice between life and death, God told Israel to “choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19). Euthanasia spurns the gift and embraces the curse. The overriding truth that God is sovereign drives us to the conclusion that euthanasia and assisted suicide are wrong. We know that physical death is inevitable for us mortals (Psalm 89:48; Hebrews 9:27). However, God alone is sovereign over when and how a person’s death occurs. Job testifies in Job 30:23, “I know you will bring me down to death, to the place appointed for all the living.” Ecclesiastes 8:8 declares, “No man has power over the wind to contain it; so no one has power over the day of his death.” God has the final say over death (see 1 Corinthians 15:26, 54–56; Hebrews 2:9, 14–15; Revelation 21:4). Euthanasia and assisted suicide are man’s attempts to usurp that authority from God. Death is a natural occurrence. Sometimes God allows a person to suffer for a long time before death occurs; other times, a person’s suffering is cut short. No one enjoys suffering, but that does not make it right to determine that a person should die. Often, God’s purposes are made known through suffering. “When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other” (Ecclesiastes 7:14). Romans 5:3 teaches that tribulations bring about perseverance. God cares about those who cry out for death and wish to end their suffering. God gives purpose in life even to the end. Only God knows what is best, and His timing, even in the matter of one’s death, is perfect. We should never seek to prematurely end a life, but neither must we go to extraordinary means to preserve a life. To actively hasten death is wrong; to passively withhold treatment can also be wrong; but to allow death to occur naturally in a terminally ill person is not necessarily wrong. Anyone facing this issue should pray to God for wisdom (James 1:5). And we should all remember the words of former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, who warned that the practice of medicine “cannot be both our healer and our killer” (from KOOP, The Memoirs of America’s Family Doctor by C. Everett Koop, M.D., Random House, 1991). unquote What does the Bible say about euthanasia / assisted suicide? | GotQuestions.org The ultimate authority is Jesus Christ and his written word, in English, the King James Bible. Without that authority, one man's opinion is no different than another man's opinion. This is the bottom line. What final authority do you believe in to determine right or wrong? Your own, liberal ideology, the state's or the authority of Jesus Christ, who is God. -

Just following liberalism or liberal ideology is leading Canada into a culture of death. Death by MAID is not "dignified death". It is pure killing and a violation of the sanctity of life. People who support MAID do not respect the sanctity of life and do not understand what it means. This is a consequence of the modern liberal belief that everyone should be free to do their own thing. But they forgot one thing. This does affect more than the person being killed. It teaches society that human life is not really worth much. It devalues human life. Where is the dignity in that? There is none. It is the opposite of dignity. It is a denial of the dignity of human life. -
quote COVID-19 cases are on the rise in British Columbia, with the BC Centre for Disease Control reporting hospitalizations have increased 58 per cent in the past two weeks. The centre says in its latest update that deaths due to COVID-19 are also trending upwards, with 24 fatalities in the last week of September, compared to nine in the second week of August. It says new infections rose from 133 cases to 877 cases in the same period, having “increased notably” among people 60 and older. There were 422 people in hospital with COVID-19 on Thursday, compared to 267 on Sept. 21. The centre says COVID-19 levels detected in wastewater are up at every monitored treatment plant in the province, coinciding with the spike in new cases. The latest numbers also show more people aged 80 and older have been getting tested for COVID-19 over the last few weeks, with nearly 35 per cent of those coming out positive in the last week of September. The Fraser Health Authority says there are currently COVID-19 outbreaks at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, Surrey Memorial Hospital, and Chilliwack General Hospital. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced last week that mask mandates were returning to health-care settings across B.C. during the respiratory illness season. unquote boundarycreektimes.com

You greatly exaggerate what the government is doing, in B.C. for instance. It makes complete sense in hospitals because many or most patients are in the vulnerable category, older or with compromised immune systems. It also makes sense for older people and people with compromised immune systems to wear masks in public places and get their Covid and flu shots. The vaccinations for various diseases has saved millions of lives over the last century. Nobody will be giving up their freedoms as we are not going back to the pandemic restrictions.

"This term derives from the older, more literal, sense of "profanity." This refers to sacrilege, or a lack of respect for things that are held to be sacred, which implies anything inspiring or deserving of reverence, as well as behaviour showing similar disrespect or causing religious offense.[4]" --- Wikipedia Profanity is not just one word, but it is also a general lack of respect for Biblical beliefs or God (the sacred). God and his written word cannot be separated from life and truth.

This is just a safety reminder. There are some of us who are more vulnerable than others because of our compromised health conditions. There has been a spike in Covid 19 cases in hospitals and a spike in deaths in the past number of weeks. Don't believe the Covid deniers. They don't know what they are talking about. People in the older age bracket should be especially careful about gathering in groups this Thanksgiving weekend. Those of us who are more vulnerable than others also need to remember to practice mask wearing, social distancing, and avoid groups. Enjoy Thanksgiving weekend, but be safe.

Medical assistance in dying is no solution

" Euthanasia without brakes. This article was published by the Epoch Times on December 7, 2022. By Wesley Smith: Wesley Smith In my first ever anti-euthanasia piece, which was published in Newsweek back in 1993, I warned that legalizing assisted suicide would lead to organ harvesting of those killed by doctors “as a plum to society.” For my trouble. I was called alarmist and hysterical—and those were the nice letters. Alas, rather than being alarmist, I was prescient. Today in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Canada, people who ask to be killed by doctors are sometimes organ harvested too. Not only that, but the phenomenon was celebrated in the media as “a growing boon to organ donation” in the Ottawa Citizen, with the story sighing, “Ontarians who opt for medically assisted deaths (MAiD) are increasingly saving or improving other people’s lives by also including organ and tissue donation as part of their final wishes.” Understand that in Canada, one need not be terminally ill to qualify for a lethal injection. The patient can be disabled, elderly and lonely, or chronically ill—and starting next year, people with mental illnesses will also be eligible for killing. Not only that, but once someone is accepted for euthanasia in Ontario, he or she doesn’t receive suicide prevention. No. No. Instead, the Trillium Gift of Life Network in the province contacts the soon-to-be-killed person to ask for their heart, liver, and kidneys. As the story reports, “Ontario, through Trillium, immediately moved to the forefront of organ and tissue donation through MAiD, becoming the first jurisdiction in the world to proactively reach out to those who had been approved for assisted death to discuss donation.” Remember, many of these patients wouldn’t be dying if they weren’t going to be lethally injected. That serves the organ harvesting agenda well, according to the Citizen, “MAiD donations also typically provide more time for testing donor organs and better matching with recipients.” Again, that time lag would also permit intensive suicide prevention efforts, but that isn’t a public policy priority in Canada when one asks for euthanasia. But here’s the thing that rarely gets mentioned: Conjoining organ donation and euthanasia can be the tipping point for deciding to choose to be killed by a suffering patient, particularly one who is mentally ill. Remember, these are despairing people who could easily come to think that their deaths have greater value than their lives. It’s a monstrous abandonment. I wish I could say that organ donation conjoined with lethal injections was the only slide down the slippery slope I have predicted correctly in my decades of anti-euthanasia advocacy. Here’s a short list of some of the other wrongs I warned against that have, indeed, come to pass. unquote For more of this piece: Euthanasia Prevention Coalition Euthanasia Prevention Coalition: Andrew Coyne (alexschadenberg.blogspot.com)
