I never said that this is the right message for addicts. But most of society are not addicts and need to be warned about drugs. Simple as that. We don't hear that warning from our illustrious leaders like Trudeau or left-leaning/liberal Premiers and politicians (BC NDP) or those involved in promoting free hard drugs and injection sites, (harm reduction advocates) but who seem to have a lot to say about everything else.
-
You are the one who is not being realistic. Everyone obviously does not know or have a clue about the harm illicit drugs can cause to themselves, their families, and everyone in society. They may have heard vague things about the consequences of drugs, but obviously, they are not paying attention or don't care. The narrative which we hear from activists and academics and people involved with drug injection sites is always pandering and trying their best to not speak about the truth or harm drugs cause. The ideology is don't offend anyone because it might scare addicts away. Addicts don't care. They are busy trying to get their next fix. It is everyone else who needs to be warned against drugs. Warning people, starting with young people in schools, is not "scare tactics" as you said. That is the most ludicrous statement you could come up with. You obviously are one of the lefties who don't think people should be taught or warned. Get a grip on reality.

Nobody said and the OP never said drugs can be completely eradicated. The point is young people and adults need to know and understand the dire consequences of experimenting with illicit drugs. All the nonsense from progressives and the left about avoiding causing stigma and it is strictly a health issue as if nothing else matters is a problem and only covering up the enormity of consequences of dabbling with drugs. Instead of covering up the facts of how serious drugs are and pretending it is not a crime against oneself, family and society, we should be teaching young people and everyone else what the consequences of illicit drugs are. Exactly how I picture you.

Tommy Douglas will never be cancelled because he is considered as a kind of god by NDPers, Socialists, and progressives. He apparently became a minister but sadly it appears he believed in a social gospel (Socialism) rather than what the Bible teaches, which is individual charity rather than state-controlled wealth redistribution (Socialism and Communism). He is considered by the NDP as the father of socialized health care.

Sadly you have been duped. Pointing out the consequences of taking illicit drugs came from a police department that has far more experience in dealing with drug addicts and the consequences of drug addiction. I am sure they deal with it every day.
-
Because decriminalization is a federal law issue and the drug crisis is right across Canada. It is a national issue and therefore federal politics is the best place to post national issues. I am not sure why you would say warning people about the consequences of taking illicit drugs is "the stupidest public 'warning". Are you a drug addict trying to defend it or what is your problem?

Again, what makes you think choosing a life of drugs in NOT a mental health issue? Then I replied to your post about a life of drugs: herbie said: Aside from the most asinine source possible for any discussion on drugs, wtf does that statement have to do with furthering discussion. unquote My post from the Arkansas police was obviously a reply to your nonsensical comment implying that a life of drugs is a mental health issue. What the Arkansas police said makes perfect sense to me. It doesn't matter who or where their statement came from. The fact that taking drugs in a choice and the harms from drugs are obvious to any thinking person. You made the comment on drugs and I replied. How is it you find that problematic? Are you the only one allowed to comment on something you yourself said?

The Clarksville, Arkansas police hit the nail right on the head. Quote "My Name: "Is Meth" I destroy homes, I tear families apart, take your children, and that's just the start. I'm more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold, The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold. If you need me, remember I'm easily found, I live all around you - in schools and in town I live with the rich; I live with the poor, I live down the street, and maybe next door. I'm made in a lab, but not like you think, I can be made under the kitchen sink. In your child's closet, and even in the woods, If this scares you to death, well it certainly should. I have many names, but there's one you know best, I'm sure you've heard of me, my name is crystal meth. My power is awesome; try me you'll see, But if you do, you may never break free. Just try me once and I might let you go, But try me twice, and I'll own your soul. When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie, You do what you have to -- just to get high. The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms Will be worth the pleasure you'll feel in your arms, your lungs your nose. You'll lie to your mother; you'll steal from your dad, When you see their tears, you should feel sad. But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised, I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways. I take kids from parents, and parents from kids, I turn people from God, and separate friends. I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride, I'll be with you always -- right by your side. You'll give up everything - your family, your home, Your friends, your money, then you'll be alone. I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give, When I'm finished with you, you'll be lucky to live. If you try me be warned - this is no game, If given the chance, I'll drive you insane. I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind, I'll own you completely, your soul will be mine. The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed, The voices you'll hear, from inside your head. The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see, I want you to know, these are all gifts from me. But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart, That you are mine, and we shall not part. You'll regret that you tried me, they always do, But you came to me, not I to you. You knew this would happen, many times you were told, But you challenged my power, and chose to be bold. You could have said no, and just walked away, If you could live that day over, now what would you say? I'll be your master, you will be my slave, I'll even go with you, when you go to your grave. Now that you have met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not? It's all up to you. I can bring you more misery than words can tell, Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell." -Clarksville Police Dept., Arkansas.

Anybody thinking of taking any kind of illicit drugs should seriously seek help and give their head a shake. Anybody addicted should seek help and stop believing the defeatist nonsense that there is no choice to quit. It might be tough and they may need help and rehab, but it is possible to quit.
-
People often decide to do hard drugs. That is purely a choice. Nobody is forcing them. Wake up and quit pretending it's not a choice.
-
Because it's a choice.

Changing the voting system to some other system will create a host of other problems and is not a solution. Lots of people think a so-called proportional voting system will solve the problem, but it won't. What it will do is take electoral rights away from many people and give those rights to political parties who will select candidates in certain ridings. The winners will not even be from those ridings. You end up with far more minority governments, governments that get defeated and elections more frequently costing taxpayers a fortune because there would be far more members of parliament chosen by small fringe parties. The problem with the system is it is not a real democracy. The system is highly controlled by the media and they basically are able to decide winners and losers to a large degree. It is therefore a mediacracy. We are controlled by the media. They determine who gets what kind of publicity and support. The winning government in turn rewards them with grants and various benefits such as the new law that will force internet companies to pay small media producers lots of money. There are also laws that artificially favour Canadian artists and producers. This also is a form of payback for supporting the winning party.
-
If anyone thought we live in a democracy they are wrong; we live in a mediacracy. Election outcomes are controlled by the media and the government pays the media back with special grants and favours such as the new bill that will force internet companies like Google, Facebook, Meta, etc. to pay small media companies for putting their news items on the internet. One would think it should be the other way around; small media producers should be paying Google, Facebook, etc. for broadcasting their news stories. Of course this new law is just a form of pay back by the liberals for the media/journalists supporting the liberals. Media has the real power to determine who wins elections.

Don't pretend you believe the Bible. We know you only twist it for your own perverse arguments. Somebody without knowledge who displays ignorance constantly fits the description of brainless or without brains. We know the only reason you make comments is to be contrary and provocative. So how is that a man of understanding or reason? You practically never agree with anything. That speaks for itself.

After the horrific abuse and cruelty inflicted on two children under the ministry's care over a long period of time and the death of one of them, this will be a test to see how B.C. Premier Eby responds and demonstrates leadership. "In his ruling on June 16, Judge Peter La Prairie said the children were tortured, starved and forced to eat their own feces, vomit and dog food. They were forced to undertake excessive exercise routines for hours, often with their eyes taped shut, while in diapers or naked. They were also subject to slapping, punching, kicking and whipping, with much of the abuse captured by video cameras inside the home. The boy died in February 2021 after sustaining a traumatic brain injury during a beating by the woman, documents say. His sister was later examined and found to have multiple abrasions and bruises all over her body and injuries to her wrists and ankles from zip ties. Police executed a search warrant and found evidence including a 2x4 piece of wood the couple used to beat the children and 16,000 videos with about 400 hours of playing time, depicting months of abuse from 2020 to 2021. "The level of violence depicted in the videos is incomprehensible," La Prairie said in the ruling." First Nations in B.C. call on minister to resign over horrific child abuse case (msn.com)

" Meanwhile, this government can’t deploy a modestly equipped military for overseas exercises, blows $30 billion-plus to subsidize car battery plants that the parliamentary budget officer predicts will deliver little economic bang for jaw-dropping megabucks and remains addicted to overpriced consultants with friends in high places. But most of all, it’s a government that casts suspicion on itself by appearing hesitant to aggressively expose Chinese interference in our elections lest it hurt the party’s political self-interests. With no next step in sight, it would seem the government wants to delay the inevitable public inquiry beyond the next foreign-influenced election." Former PM Brian Mulroney must be suffering from dementia and complete loss of memory. He praised Trudeau and mainly compared him with Trump and the only talked the free trade agreement under Trump. That was far from the only issue concerning the Liberals in the past eight years. We have many issues where Liberals have failed Canadians, soft-on-crime, ill-advised gun legislation, and many other things. He completely ignored all the scandals and ethics violations. He ignored Trudeau's holiday to the Aga Khan island, he ignored the Chinese interference and David Johnson controversy and the SNC Lavalin controversy. He ignored everything except his distaste for Trump. This guy is not a conservative. He totally ignored the divisions that Trudeau has caused and the government mismanagement that helped create massive debt, the housing crisis, and the cost of living crisis. Mulroney is no conservative by any stretch and his attacking the conservatives in this way proves it beyond any doubt. He has very bad judgment. Free drugs is not reducing crime or overdose deaths. The claim that it will is a myth. I am not sure of the reason, but giving free drugs out to people is not the answer. Free drugs don't solve anything. People need to quit taking drugs. That's all there is to it. But they need to be willing to quit. Nobody can be forced to quit.
-
NDP (Socialist/progressive) ideology is a deadly ideology that will not save lives. It will do the opposite. The NDP ideology is a humanist ideology based on the belief that if people are given free drugs, they will somehow want to quit and seek rehab. This is not necessarily the case. I understand there are lots of people who believe giving people whatever they want will help to solve their problem but this is unlikely to be the case. People who take drugs don't think straight. If they were thinking straight they would not be taking drugs in the first place. Drugs affect the mind and just make their thinking worse. Many of them are only interested in where they are going to get their next fix.

" The Bible claims to be the Word of God and proves it. The Bible consistently claims to be the word of the one and only true God (Genesis 1:1; Revelation 22:20-21). From beginning to end, prophets appear in its pages claiming to speak the word of God. They not only make this claim, but they offer multiple miracles to their listeners and multiple prophecies to their readers to back up what they are saying is from God. The miracles they do are clearly in the category of what only God can do. They create life from non-life (Exodus 8:19) and raise the dead (1 Kings 17:17-24). They include predictions hundreds of years in advance (Daniel 9:25-27). Such signs are unmistakable from the true God. Such miracles and prophecies are used to back up the spoken and written word from the prophets (see Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, Jesus and Paul). The true God would never allow real miracle or prophecy to be done through a false teacher or false religion. So, the religion that contains true miracles is the true religion. This is what separates Christianity from other religions and their books. The Bible is historically accurate about Jesus’s life, death and resurrection. We know the Bible is historically accurate because it was faithfully copied from the originals and the content, what it says occurred, happened much of which can be verified. The number of hand-written manuscripts is more than enough to establish a text that is faithful to the originals. These manuscripts show a direct line very close to the time the originals were written and the vast numbers (over 5,000) allows experts to compare them and come to the most reliable reading. It is a true saying, that if we are to doubt the text of the Bible, we must throw out all the works of antiquity as well. Unlike other religious books, the Bible provides a strong link between its history and truth claims. This includes historical details such as dates, places, and people in that period (see especially the Gospels and Acts) not easily fabricated. It reveals embarrassing episodes which show authenticity since they are unlikely to be made up (see Peters’ denial of Jesus). It provides descriptions and explanations of historical events acknowledged by former enemies writing independently (see Paul’s letters that affirm many events recorded in the Gospels) and non-biblical writers (that support the basic outline of Christianity). The Bible provides historical facts such as the claim of Jesus to be God, his death on a cross, an empty tomb, the changed lives of the disciples who testified under the threat of death that they saw, spoke and ate with the bodily risen Jesus. All this can only adequately be explained by the greatest miracle of all: God raised Jesus of Nazareth from the dead. The Bible is true because the Son of God teaches that (John 17:17). I believe the Bible is authoritative because: 1) The God of the Bible exists. 2) Miracles and prophecy offer an unmistakable sign of a true message from God. 3) The Bible is historically accurate concerning the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. And finally, 4) Jesus who is God in the flesh taught that the prophets spoke and wrote God’s word (Luke 24:44) and promised this same prophetic ministry for his immediate disciples and prophets (John 14:16-17). Hence, the Bible alone, as acknowledged by a former persecutor of believers, is the only authoritative written record inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16). In short, I believe the Bible because people can reason to God and about Jesus being the risen Savior. The Bible has the authority of the true God, as taught by His one and only Son, and therefore cannot be broken (John 10:35). So, this Christmas, as we celebrate the truth of God with Us, Emmanuel, let us remember that our hope and salvation which began with the birth of Jesus, and culminating in His resurrection, is a confident hope and sure salvation. It is revealed in the true and inerrant written Word of God and grounded in the love and grace of the Unchangeable God." Why Believe the Bible? - Southern Evangelical Seminary (ses.edu)

The solution to the opioid crisis is not free drugs for everyone who wants them. The solution is a spiritual one because drugs, like many things, is a spiritual problem. "The Bible itself is the most valuable source of help in facing the problem of drugs in our lives. It really can be a good life if we want it to be despite all the problems it presents. 2 Peter 1:3 tells us that God hath given us "all things that pertain unto life and godliness"." In my years of working with drug dependents and alcoholics, I have developed a set of guidelines which I stress to each one and which I try to live by myself. I know that these things can help if you will use them in your life as you face the temptation to use drugs or misuse your life in any way. Think Positive: Life is not dull. Everything that is fun is not a no no. You can enjoy life and feel good about it by using the Word of God as your guideline. A negative attitude can destroy you, but tell yourself you can do whatever you set your mind to, including being drug free. If you are not sure of yourself, you are in trouble. Fill Your Life With Joy: Don't go around with your chin dragging the ground. Hold your head up with enthusiasm. Don't let life drag you down. Get Involved: You get out of anything exactly what you put into it. If you are not willing to sacrifice, don't expect life to be a rose garden. That's why religion is dull to some people, they don't put anything in it. Discipline Yourself: Bring your body in subjection. Control your own life. Don't allow a chemical to rule you. Be your own person not a reactor to others. Handle everything with prayer. By applying these guidelines to your life you won't need drugs. If you have any doubts about the right or wrong of drug abuse, answer these questions honestly. Are you always asking others opinions about it? Do you feel guilty when you do it? Can you thank God for the privilege of doing it? It's your life, no one can force you to do anything against your will. Do you really want to use drugs or do you want the good life? It's up to you." Drugs and the Bible: E, Shrooms, Cocaine, Crack, Marijuana It is not far off to believe that the enemy of mankind would like to turn as many people as possible into drug addicts.
