U.S. captain freed in rescue operation
Shady replied to WIP's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's pretty sad that for whatever reason, some of you feel the need to turn this into a partisan political issue. Let's just all be glad the captain was rescued, and leave Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News, and Glenn Beck out of the discussion, since they have absolutely nothing to do with it. You guys are pathetic, but not suprising. -

Anyway you can keep your political hackery limited to the Federal Politics section of the forum? -
Obama's Bow to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia

Let's see. The Whitehouse, Fox, MSNBC, CNN, even Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. But I'm harping on it? Whatever you say Obamabot. -

Like I said. The mainstream media reports on it. The Whitehouse issues a statement on it. But I'm not suppose to talk about it. -
GOP govs get dose of stimulus reality
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's not about accepting federal assistance. They're all going to accept at least some of the so-called stimulus money. It's about accepting federal law changes and unfunded mandates past when the stimulus money runs out. You should be more truthful in responses. That's just more political hackery. -

Umm, let's see. He imprisions political opponents and silences freedom of speech. He crushes human rights and imprisons victims of A.I.D.S. And worst of all, he won't let people leave his island prison. Yet amazingly, liberals are in love with this man. Question. What am I missing? Bobby Rush-D-Illinois: It was almost like listening to an old friend. He was a down-to-earth kind of man who I thought resembled someone who I would say is as close as a neighbor -- and he had a very modest home. And we were met in the front door by his lovely wife. So it was almost like visiting an old friend, uh, when we visited with him. He wanted to know more about Dr. King. I told President Castro that in my household, he is known as the ultimate survivor. Laura Richardson-D-California: What really was amazing to me as he leaned in, he looked directly into our eyes -- uh, quite aware of what was happening, and said -- and said to us, how can we help? "How can we help President Obama?" He talked about the fact that he had watched the campaign. You know, for people who seem to think that in Cuba people don't have shoes, they don't have jobs, they don't have ice cream --I mean, these people are living and working and participating as we -- as many -- in fact, some were even in a better situation than in some portions of my district. Barbara Lee-D-California: He seemed very energetic; he was engaging. We met at his house, which is a house of very modest means. His wife was there, his son was taking photographs of us, and it was a very moving meeting in a sense because he was taking notes. He was very inquisitive. He asked us to send more information about Dr. King, because he reveres Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and we said we would try to get more books and tapes to send down. CBC members praise Castro Politico What the hell is wrong with these people??? Are they not aware of the lack of black faces in the Cuban government since the "glorious" revolution? And did they ever think of asking how he reconciles his so-called admiration of Dr. King, a man who championed human rights, with his exact opposite way of governance? Of course not.

He's already claimed to cure cancer during his Presidency, and recently, eliminate all nuclear weapons from the world. So where does the first messianic President go from there? Weather control! Maybe he really does think he's the Messiah. AP Newsbreak: Obama looks at climate engineering WASHINGTON (AP) - The president's new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth's air. John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays. Another geoengineering option he mentioned was the use of so-called artificial trees to suck carbon dioxide—the chief human-caused greenhouse gas—out of the air and store it. AP

Obama's Bow to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia
Shady replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Because the White House is making it news. White House: No bow to Saudi The White House is denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets. "It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Politico -
The Most Polarizing President Who has been the most polarizing new president of recent times? Richard Nixon? Ronald Reagan? George W. Bush? No, that honor belongs to Barack Obama. According to the Pew Research Center, the gap between Republican and Democratic approval ratings for Bush a few months into his first term was about 51 percentage points. For Obama, this partisan gap stands at 61 points. Obama has been a unifier, of sorts. He has united Democrats and united Republicans -- against each other. Washington Post So much for the so-called first "post-partisan" President.

Please provide a link to when I've ever described Franken as not having a shot at winning his senate election? That my forum friends, is what we call a lie. The failed logic in your premise, is that you assume that young voters (who by the way, always poll much higher for Democrats, and have for the last several decades) will always vote Democrat. When history, and statistics prove otherwise. There's an old saying that illustrates my point. "If you're a conservative in your 20's, you have no heart, but if you're a liberal in your 30's, you have no brain." People's attitudes change as they get older, and when they actually have to provide a living for themselves, and their families, and actually are burdened with real responsibilities, instead of just trying to schedule their next pub crawl with the next anti-war protest. -
Obama Is Destroying The Economy
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
MoveOn.org once asked this question: Who will pay for the deficit? I wonder if they still care? -
Obama's fake approval numbers. The Washington Post - ABC News poll samples 36% Democrats to 25% Republicans. As for the new NYT/CBS poll, it samples 39% Democrats to 23% Republicans. I can make Charles Manson poll well with those ridiculous sampling methods. Good'ol liberal media.

Yeah, dreaming big! New poll shows Dodd stumbling badly in Connecticut Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd trails former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons, a possible Republican challenger, 50 - 34 percent in the 2010 Senate race, according to a Quinnipiac University poll. Link Reid is GOP target in 2010 election WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is among Republicans' biggest targets in 2010, but a GOP takedown is hardly a guarantee. As Reid, 69, prepares to seek a fifth term, analysts say the leading Democratic voice in the Senate has turned off some voters in libertarian-leaning Nevada and undercut his slogan from campaigns past: "Harry Reid, Independent like Nevada." Link Ya know, you might want to actually know something about a subject before you open your mouth. But I guess nothing's stopped you before. -

Big deal. Republicans are targeting Harry Reid's seat in Nevada. It's gonna be sweet to take out the Senate Majority leader. Chris Dodd is also gonna be packing for home as well. -
stephanomics - Canada Best Prepared
Shady replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm sorry, but you're being completely disingenuous when you claim that Canada wouldn't be running a deficit under Liberal leadership. I specifically asked you how the 3 stooges would have stopped the world economic collapse, and you've given no answers. Instead, you stick to your claim that magically, the Liberals would make up for drastic drops in government revenue, due to a diving world economy with a quick wave of their magic wand. Canada relies heavily on exports for it's ecnomic prosperity. America is Canada's number one trading partner. So I'll ask you once again. Exactly how would the 3 stooges make up for the collapse of the American financial system, and the severe recession that resulted? And not only that, but how would the 3 stooges pass a strong ecnomic stimulus bill, without running even a dollar deficit? After all, it was the so-called worried Liberals, and NDP, that came together to try and oust the Conservatives because they weren't focusing on econmic stimulus the way America was. Not only that, but the Liberals backed the $40 billion dollar stimulus, and Ignatieff contends that there needs to be a second roung of stimulus, similar to the first. DID YOU HEAR THAT? The Liberals backed the $40 billion dollar stimulus package. Canada Needs Second Round of Stimulus, Ignatieff Says Bloomberg So please, please tell us all, show us all, add the numbers up yourself. How the Liberals support close to $100 billion dollars worth of stimulus, yet you claim they wouldn't run a deficit! Stop talking out of your ass. -
Everyone already has the right to get married, however, unions between people of the same sex doesn't constitute marriage. I'd totally agree with you about giving heterosexuals civil unions, if marriage was defined as a union between two people of the same gender. But it isn't. As I've already stated, same-sex marriage is an oxymoron. The fact that you need to use an adjective to describe marriage (same-sex) proves my point. You can all a car a dog, but it doesn't mean it's really a dog. Civil Unions give gays and lesbians all the rights that heterosexual couples enjoy under marriage. If this issue was only about equal rights, it'd be settled already. But it isn't about equal rights, it's about pushing the gay agenda.
-
Speaking of Civil Unions, what's wrong with them that the law had to be changed? I'm all for gay/lesbian couples afforded the rights and priviledges that heterosexual couples enjoy. But that's what I thought Civil Unions were all about. I support Civil Unions, but I don't support "gay-marriage." It's an oxymoron.

A Poor Republican Performance In Upstate New York
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Exactly what have I lied about? And btw, I don't usually care much about spelling, since I make all kinds of mistakes, but lying isn't spelled lieing. Geez. If he wins, it's a victory. That's the very definition of victory, winning. And yes, he had a big lead, but that was before the real campaign started, and had more to do with name recognition. And it was before Obama's endorsement, etc. Also, the absentee-ballot numbers look great for Tedisco! According to absentee-ballot numbers I received last night: in Warren, Republicans returned 569 of 764 ballots while Democrats returned only 316 of 437, with 113 of 205 “other” ballots returned. I suppose the Democrat could pick up votes, but he’d have to overcome a tremendous differential in party identification of the returned absentee ballots — 569 vs. 316, or 57% vs. 31%. … Likewise in Washington, where the Democrats’ projection is a pick up of 70 votes, Tedisco has an advantage of 315 vs. 187 in returned absentee ballots (62% vs. 37%). … Columbia is a more plausible source of votes for Murphy, who enjoys an advantage of 472 to 242 returned ballots over Republicans, and who won that county 56-44%. But aside from a tiny margin in Duchess County, Columbia is the only county where Democrats enjoy an advantage in the percentage of returned absentees or the total absentee ballots sent out. But the real kicker is in Saratoga. The latest figures there were 1,731 ballots returned, 922 of which were Republican and 502 Democratic (53% vs. 29%), with the remainder “other .” That is a very big chunk of the absentees, about one third. Tedisco won that county by a 54-46% margin. Link Now, that being said, who knows what the numbers will look like, once ACORN and other Democrat vote stealing groups assend on NY for the absentee ballot count. -
*TOTUS update* YouTube I think the word he was looking for is blame. But apparently the leader of the free world, couldn't come up with that on his own, at least very quickly.
