  1. It’s the flu for most people that aren’t over 65 and in poor health. It’s going to become endemic, just like the flu. The new variant is a perfect example, mild form. It’s best to get on with your life and learn to live again. Eat right and exercise and you’ll have nothing to worry about. And take zinc and especially vitamin D.
  2. It has nothing to do with a minority of people. Covid isn’t going away, even if 100% are vaccinated. It’s going to be just like the flu. It’s time you people get used to it.
  3. Covid isn’t going away, it’s going to be around forever just like the flu, no matter how many people are vaccinated. Get used to it. I’m glad you have such ease denying people if fundamental rights. It’s too bad a virus with a 99.6.% survival rate, virtually 100% if you’re not in poor health has turned you into a fascist. Congratulations.
  4. There are vaccines now, and 80+% are vaccinated. It’s completely unnecessary.
  5. Not in large grocery stores. And guess what? Cases went down during those times! The vast majority of cases are private gatherings not public places like grocery stores. This is just straight up fascism.
  6. The funny thing about this is that before vaccines, it was perfectly fine for everyone to go to the grocery store wearing masks, even during lockdowns.

You have to respect someone who overcame the obstacles he did, even if you didn't agree with his politics. One of the dying breed of politicians who would work toward solutions rather than just the destruction of political enemies and avoiding getting primaried at any cost to their personal integrity.

You just made allegations against me as a comparison to them making allegations, thereby making your credibility the issue. It's really hard to debate with someone whose comprehension is so limited. It's like you can't follow more than three posts in a row.

No, you don't tailor the booster to address it.  Several immunologists have actually said that adjusting the vaccines to the new variant may make it less effective against delta and previous ones.  Bubber talking out of his ignorant science-guessing butt again.

Yay, wowee. So happy the green revolution shall embrace an smr.

No serious nuclear has been built or is on the table for being built in Canada. Very little in the US either. To my knowledge a new US project was finally announced just a few months ago, first in many decades.

Meanwhile Chinee make reactors 1-2-3. Even making innovative gas-cooled reactor for high power, not just stupid miniature toy-size ordinary pressurized water.

The real estate market is being fueled by bad government policy.  I'm not sure why you're ok with getting involved in every other industry, but for some reason now you're  free market lassiez faire.  Hypocrite much?  People are now paying skyrocketing property taxes based on inflated home values.  If interest rates go up even a bit, millions of people will face foreclosure.  But for some reason unlimited immigration is a religion to you.  And if that causes big problems for Canadians, too bad.

And it's not just about supply and demand.  It's about cheap money, shortages, and investors.  Get your head out of the sand.  Stop being a Trudeau cultist at all costs.

I'm not totally free market. But the prices are a direct result of Supply and Demand.

Regulate foreign investment, by all means.

      From the article you cited.

      Quote

Justin Trudeau’s Liberals have had six years since he became prime minister in 2015, with lots of talk but negligible impact on prices or supply. Faced with a tougher re-election bid than he’d expected this summer, Trudeau embarked on one of his patented promise binges,  unveiling a juicy package of pledges. A ban of sorts on foreign ownership, extra taxes on existing foreign property left sitting empty, an end to blind bidding, some sort of tax to discourage flipping, a tax-free savings plan for first-time buyers and billions of dollars (with the Liberals there are always billions of dollars available) for builders to build “middle class homes.”

People obtaining mortgages need to pass a stress test from the bank to ensure they can endure an Interest rate spike.

AND if prices do go down, many people who recently entered the market won't have any appreciable equity in their home. They won't even be able to afford to sell it.

If you're going to obsess about immigration, be my guest. It just sounds racist, but whatever. Immigration is the only way to boost the population, because it's also too expensive to have kids. Canada has policies to ensure immigrants provide useless skills to the society. And I doubt refugees are entering the Real Estate market.

We could mandate that wages keep track with the cost of living. But, you know, communism right?

There are no easy answers to this problem. Places where people want to live are expensive. Especially when NIMBYs in these communities block further development.

  18. Ontario NDP will raise the minimum wage to $20/hour if elected.  What a disaster.

  19. The vulnerable are generally much older than that. That’s why the average covid death in Canada is 80+ years of age. Protecting them would be vaccinations plus boosters if necessary. Them wearing masks and probably avoiding indoor crowds for a while. It’s not treating everyone like the vulnerable, which is what we’re still doing.

Stop being disingenuous.  Slowing immigration isn’t stopping it.  Either is banning foreign buying of homes.  But you hate the middle class, so I expected as much.

    3. Boges

      Boges

Many municipalities do tax foreign buyers.

Would you support JT making that a federal mandate? Seems like government over-reach, no?

The dicey issue with Real Estate is that homebuyers expect prices to go up. Because it's one of the safer investments. So reversing course on prices may hurt recent home-buyers.

    4. Shady

      Shady

Not taxing buyers, banning temporarily.  O’Toole had the perfect plan.  Houses have already increased in value exponentially, so if that increase slows for a short period of time, it’s irrelevant.  Anyone that owns a home is still way up.  Besides, there’s no guarantee of increases, it’s just like any investment.  Why you continue to defend this shit is beyond me.  JT can do no wrong.  You’re worse than a Trump cultist.

  22. Well, you can keep getting two doses of a new vaccine for every new variant for the next 10 years. Or you could just accept the science that covid and it’s mutations are serious for the elderly and the sick. But not for everybody. That’s why the average age of a COVID death in Canada is 80+ years old.
  23. This is a complete overreaction. From the limited data available, those that have been infected have experienced only mild symptoms. Stop losing your shit over what’s tantamount to a bad cold. You’ve become completely unhinged. Although I don’t necessarily blame you, I blame the irresponsible mainstream media that breathlessly reports and plays up an new covid news.

The new extremely mild variant? Yep.  It’s a great sign that the virus is becoming weaker as it mutates.  It’s natures vaccine.
