  1. Ever used Netflix? It's unlimited onDemand Movies/TV with a $8 charge. The movies and shows aren't very current though. Rogers onDemand is basically like Hulu in the US but you pay for it with your cable subscription. You can stream mainstream Television shows (commercial free) onDemand. Well with this system, apparently, you get Rogers onDemand included with your Live Gold subscription. A Gold Subscription comes to less than $7/month so it's by far the cheapest way to receive content online other than, of course, if you steal.
  2. $14/bottle is cheap to you? You must really be a hipster.
  3. They still don't have a date for this, I'm hoping this month. An XBOX Live Gold Membership costs like $60-$70 a year. I get it so I can do online gaming (Battlefield 3 is Fantastic). You can always buy content on Live but it has this ridiculous points system (With set levels) that makes you pre-pay for points instead of buying the products you want. (Like iTunes) You can currently buy current shows onDemand but it's pricey, similar to Apple TV. But if you can get Rogers onDemand included with your Live membership, it'll be very difficult to justify your cable bill. Granted the bandwidth will be pricey. Also nothing can really compete with The Movie Network (at $19/month) unless you're a thief. If Bubber Miley was pissed about DVRs then he must be really pissed about this. They also say their offering a free movie service. This might mean Netflix is now useless to me. I'm very curious to see what these changes will mean for getting content.
  4. Well again this thread isn't about the price we pay. That's an outrage but can't do much about it. But if you're going to charge the public high rates that go to the gumint's general revenue then WTF not try to get a deal. Quebec does it.
  5. I'm just assuming you have Dome issues with Shady being such a Lions fan. Nothing to prove that though. As a Packers fan I have no idea why you care, in any way, what the Bears do.
  6. Well fine, precedents can be set. But pick your argument. You're either upset that the Ford's want to bring in Pro Athletes into school or you're upset that he wants to bring MMAers. Again prove to me MMA has anything to do with bullying. Bullying if far more psychological than physical.
  7. When was the last time you saw a wine at the LCBO from China? Our favourites come from Chile and South Africa. Aussie Wine is popular too. Canadian Winemakers really price themselves out of the market, Usually when things are made within 100 miles of where it's being sold it's cheaper. I bought a 1.5L of Jackson Triggs last week cuz it was on sale though. Most of the time I buy Canadian Beer and Canadian Whiskey. Screetch is sometimes my choice from over the far better Jamaican brands.
  8. We've had this debate before. The LCBO has a monopoly on selling liqour in Ontario so they can charge whatever the Hell they want. They even have minimum prices just to make sure no one can get an exceptionally good deal on boo's. But if that's the case and they have a captive market and they're one of the largest purchasers of alcohol in the world. At least maybe you could get a bulk discount or something. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1097173--lcbo-prices-higher-than-they-should-be-a-g?bn=1 If you're going to rip people off to maximize profits, at least do it properly you idiots. It's a wonder why people hate government organizations. All they need to do is go to a COSTCO to see how this stuff works.
  9. If McNabb was worth anything anymore at least one team would have picked him up of Waivers. Apparently his work ethic is shitteh and he's not in great shape. He's washed out in two markets already, No one will trust him anymore. BTW the reason Cutler has been somewhat successful is that he has a decent defense. His stats aren't amazing. He had Brandon Marshall to throw to in Denver that's why he had some success there. But then he EMO'd his way out of Denver. He's a decent QB, not great but he acts like a petulant Baby. I know Shwa would rather see any team but Detroit in the playoffs but it looks like The 6th WC is the Lion's to lose.
  10. Well UFC is just a popular way to combine different martial arts. It hasn't shaken it's no-holds-bar blood sport image from the early 90's I guess but it's a different sport. There are rules, some fans would consider them restrictive rules. Boxing has been a popular sport for a long time now. I'm sure had a politician found a way to get Mohamed Ali to come into school and promote good things like leadership, fitness, understanding etc. I don't think there'd be a huge outcry. Have you seen Ali? The whole reason he's a physical mess is because he's taken too many punches in the face. It's common for Pro Football players not to make it past the age of 60 because of all the head injuries they take. Many hockey players have died recently and head injuries have been to blame. Just because MMA is a combat sport doesn't mean the participants can't be role models. I'd imagine many children would benefit from looking up to a guy like GSP.
  11. The Bears just lost their starting running back and are coming off back-to-back loses to the Raiders and the Chiefs. The Defense might cause Tebow trouble but it's not like he'll have to score many points to win. Typer Palko only needed 10, 7 of which came off a Hail Mary.
  12. The Bears just lost their starting running back and are coming off back-to-back loses to the Raiders and the Chiefs. The Defense might cause Tebow trouble but it's not like he'll have to score many points to win.
  13. ACTUALLY!!! If you look it up they only gave up more points 3 times this season in Losses: to Green Bay Twice and Chicago once in all their 10 losses.
  14. No but a Simple Google Search can. http://brucey.net/nflab/statistics/qb_rating.html It is pretty complicated but it's got everything dealing with a QB's performance covered. Not just yards and scores which can be skewed.
  15. Seriously dude, what does the UFC have to do with Bullying? Lots of aggressive sports are played in schools. Many school-aged kids are also enrolled in martial-arts. Just because you've pigeon-holed your own opinion of "what this story means" doesn't mean it's true or even the consensus on the issue. http://www.globaltoronto.com/sound-off/6442535667/story.html
  16. Tebow's QB rating was 150, Just want to point that out.
  17. In wins against Tebow wins against Miami, San Diego, KC and the Jets the Defense held the opponent to under 20 points. In a win against Oakland they kept the score to 24 but the Denver offense blitzed them on the ground (Tebow included). Arguments could have been made that the Defense won those games especially in a KC win where Tebow went 2-8 for 68 yards. In this game on the other hand the Vikings, even though they were without AP, scored over 30 points. So I'll concede you should give the Defense credit for keeping Denver in the game in the first half. You have to give Tebow credit for winning the game with his arm in the 4th quarter.
  18. Oh I see where you're going here. You don't really want to debate the issue of UFC. Please highlight how Doug stepped in it here. I'll hang up and listen.
  19. The Lead of the story focuses around program itself. Then they miss-characterize the UFC. Then they mention the ball ban at a TDSB school. Then they quote TDSB people that think it's a horrible idea. Then they reveal more information about the program. Then finally they highlight that ultimately the program is about promoting the sport at a grassroots level. Which, of course, is then painted as selling advertising in school. Oh and the Ford's hate the Star. Did I miss anything?
  20. This is correct. The Star has an editorial bias but they are a private corporation run just like any other corporation that people like the Occupiers rage against.
  21. Can't really argue this issue based on facts. It's more one of personal opinions and feelings about job losses. No one wants to see people lose their jobs. But are the jobs potentially lost in the City of Toronto more of an outrage than private sector jobs lost?
  22. I'm listening to Tom Wright (former CFL commissioner) current UFC Canada Chair on Newstalk 1010. He's saying this program is more of a community outreach program and not meant to "teach fighting in school". Of course the great journalist at The Star didn't think to call him or anything.
  23. Yeah sounds pretty horrible. Kids can never benefit from those things.
