Didn't see the game but saw the highlights. A crap QB doesn't lead his team to a comeback like that. He seems to have the same MO every game. A crap first half and an awe inspiring second half. This team is making the playoff. If they end up losing in the first round to, say the Steelers, you can still call this season a success for the Bronks and there's no way they can draft a reasonable successor now. -
That's not really the issue. I don't have Rogers either, I have Cogeco. (It sucks balls BTW) BUT Rogers does own Sportsnet and Bell owns TSN and everyone who subscribes to basic cable or satellite has both of those. I'm sure TSN and/or Sportsnet would love to have HNIC, just like they loved having the Olympics. Another aspect of this deal is wireless content. I don't have stats but I'd venture to say that a great majority of people in this country get their cell service from either Bell or Rogers.
-
You clearly have a crayon in your brain. I don't mind HNIC but it isn't sacrosanct. If you had told anyone 15 years ago that the Grey Cup would be on TSN in 2011, I doubt many would believe it. As long as I can remember the idea of an Olympics (sup Ben Johnson) you watched the coverage on the CBC, not so anymore. Things change.
-
And you don't think Bell or Rogers doesn't want a piece of that Saturday Night Game? I doubt they can compete with this Media Consortium when the contract is up. Their deal goes until 2014. So nothing will be happening in the immediate future. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2007/03/26/hockey-night-in-canada.html

The issue of CBC was addressed in the news conference this morning. The games CBC broadcasts are controlled by the league actually. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/12/09/rogers-bell-buy-majority-stake-in-mlse/ So when the CBC's deal is up, there's nothing saying this media consortium can't bid for those games like they did with the Olympics. I kind of feel bad for AM640. They got that one sports upper hand on the two competing Sports Radio stations in Toronto and now apparently they won't be the home of the Leafs anymore.
-
Wow get pretty offensive when people say something bad about your precious CBC. I see how you roll. You really don't see there being implications on how Bell/Rogers will want to control where the Leafs are seen in the future? I doubt Score will ever broadcast a Raptors game again. Ditto with CBC showing Toronto FC.
-
Hamilton is just a central location for a place where many people live. Going to see the Leafs is so difficult for your average person in the GTA so having a team in Hamilton would immediately be attractive to people in K-Dub, Halton, Peel, Niagara. I would immediately be the fan of any team in Hamilton.
-
These are the same guys that yanked the Olympics away from CBC. Who's to say they can't do the same to the HNIC. I don't know what will happen but it's certainly possible they'll want all the Leaf games on their content in the future.
-
I don't think anyone was expecting this. http://www.citytv.com/toronto/citynews/news/local/article/173922--mlse-sold-to-rogers-bell-for-1-32-billion This is weird, most Leafs games are on Rogers Sportsnet, occasionally you get a national game on TSN, and the odd game on Leafs TV. How will they spit the television broadcasts for Leafs, not to mention the Raps and TFC. Most Raps games were broadcast on the Score. These guys played nicely during the 2010 Olympics but can the co-own the biggest sports entity in Canada? I think ultimately this deal will mean HNIC won't be on CBC for the years to come. So CBC fans. As a Leafs fan, I'm happy that at least these guys will be more concerned about viewership to a team that's competitive than simply the bottom line of how much money the teams make.

The Chick Fil-A Bowl is usually pretty good. But it's on New Year's Eve so if you have any semblance of a life you really should be out with friends and not watch Fooseball on New Years Eve. There are too many Bowls but this year's crop of Bowls has some really good games. Of course that does not include the BCS final which I predict will be a dog.

In a Best of 7 series I really don't the spread of each game should be an issue. Aggregate is a fair way to have a 2-game series in both team's park in Soccer though. Champion's League is more of a tournament meant to be played in tandem with a league schedule. That's why the games are usually played on Wednesday and league games are played on the weekend. The Stanley Cup playoffs are a grind marathon that requires 100% of a player time and effort.

I didn't know this. Could this perhaps because Harris sent them to much more dangerous parts of Germany as well. -

Let's say Hitler had no plans to invade Russia and devoted 100% of his power towards taking down the UK. He could have done it. Post Dunkirk their British Army was in horrible shape. -
The hysteria around the World Juniors is a media invention. You're somehow unpatriotic if you don't like it. We're the only country that really cares about it. And that's why 3 times out of 4 it's held in Canada. I think it was more important post 1998 when it was thought that Canada was really losing its grip on being the best nation in Hockey so we could look to domination in the World Junior's as a success. Unless you're an CHL Junkie no one knows these players.

At such a high cost though. They were considering sandbagging daytime bombing of Germany until the introduction of the the P-51. -

But even if he took Moscow, do you think the USSR would have surrendered? There was no way I can see the Germans taking that entire country. -

Yes it did. Stalingrad was a symbol to Hitler. He thought taking that meant something more than it actually did. Paulus' army was one of Hitler's best and he expected them to starve to death. He was a dumb ass. -
Two posts up, I beat you to it.

Of course the overwhelming might of United States and Russian industry might have had something to do with it as well. Oh and the fact that Hitler was a huge dumb ass.
