  1. I read awhile back that content providers wanted surcharges applied to people's internet bills. That would make sense. I know people that don't even pay for cable anymore, they just download bitorrents. I like the convenience of having HD programming available onDemand, it's worth the money to me. I don't buy music anymore but I do stream internet radio and subscribe to XM radio so I do support artists indirectly.
  2. The creator is Vince Gilligan, he did episodes of X-files. I heard the analogy of Mr. Chips to Scarface. They could have ended the season there if it wasn't for the Lilly in the Valley reveal. I think we have to find out how the death of Ted affects the family. (Skylar's tax evading former boss) Clearly the fact he pays his taxes then ends up dead, will probably garner some interest. It'll be curious to see how Walk takes over from Gus. He was doing an alright job heading up a small drug operation with Jessie and his friends until Gus' guys got Combo killed and Jesse's friends bailed. He'll need help. I suspect he'll get that help from people in Mexico that are left after Gus went Gus on them. Mike coming back will be very interesting. Here's the trailer proving Mike comes back and Walt's ego is sky-high now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCCL2QY6M8k
  3. This thread talks more about other shows than Breaking Bad. Just finished Season 4 on the weekend. Thanks AMC for showing all the re-runs overnight leading up to the premiere on July 15th. Season 4 was the best season by far. Gus was one of the best antagonists I've ever seen on any TV show. Cold and calculated he was always the smartest guy in the room. How brilliant was he in killing the entire cartel and having an mobile ER on standby? His one weakness, in the killer of his partner, was ultimately his downfall. I'm looking forward to seeing the return of Mike. It was convenient that he was in Mexico recovering while Walt kills Gus' entire inner circle. Him and Hank are two of the main bright spots of this series I wonder if the horrible things Walt's done to Jesse will catch up to him in Season 5? (Letting his girlfriend die and poisoning his other girlfriend's son)
  4. And this is exactly the reason RIM/BB is dying. They thought that their secure texting/e-mail phone would be all that their clientele needed. But what they forgot is that a great number of people like using their phones for other reason. These new phones attract people that never thought they'd need a phone to send an e-mail for business purposes. Superphones are now more like pocket computers than just phones. I find myself going on my actual home PC less and less now that I can do many of the same things on my phone.
  5. I'm not going to post the video, It's rather repugnant. But these are the kids that posted a video of them being really mean to a 68-year-old bus monitor. Once the video went viral the kids became Interweb pariahs while the woman got over half a mil donated to her. Well those kids have been suspended for the year, from school. http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1219688--students-who-bullied-bus-monitor-suspended-from-school-for-a-year Think that would happen anywhere in Canada? You can compare and contrast that story to one of a boy in the Toronto area that was given 3 concussions by a bully and the bully is being let back into the school. The school says the victim has to forgive the bully or leave the school. http://www.torontosun.com/2012/06/27/mandel-a-never-ending-hell
  6. I think QuAIA get's way to much pub over this. It's a deplorable organization but it's not like it's following is huge. It gets more PR this time of year because of the idle threats from the city. I don't think anyone really takes them seriously anyway.
  7. With Siri and Siri clones for Android you can now text by just talking to your phone. Not 100% safe, but a bit safer I suppose. This is assuming you have a mount for your phone on your dash.
  8. You have to wonder why the cost of living is so high in this province. Is it because Union wages push them up? In these right to work states people can live relatively comfortably on $15/hour. Most people in the private sector aren't currently or have never been in a union. Employers in the private sector can decide whether to have a union or not. I think the main problem we're seeing in Canada is how public sector unions hold a monopoly on how public money is spent and how much to charge for services. Anyone pay attention to the situation at the Toronto District School Board? A perfect example of what happens when a union doesn't have to compete for providing a service. You get them charing $3,000 to install an electrical outlet, and no one can say shit about it.
  9. I've seen that show Eat St. sometimes. The food they make on that show looks really good. So good I'd rather eat it in a restaurant.
  10. I really don't understand the appeal of eating exotic food off the back of the truck. If I want food on the go, it it wise to buy a soy burrito on a bed of basmati rice. But that's just me. The fact that these food trucks aren't allowed makes Toronto look pretty 2nd rate.
  11. Dalton says NO $30 BILLION TRANSIT PLAN FOR YOU!!! http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/1219211--province-approves-lrt-for-toronto-won-t-back-onecity-plan Man McDalton really wants to be hated by everyone doesn't he?
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQgIcITzwf4 The Douchnozzle has been charged. GOOD!!! If I was that kid, that coach would have been kneed in the face.
  13. Other than the fact it has apps and a dock, I see very few things similar with the Current Android ICS Samsung Phone and the iPhone. The iPhone has a smaller screen and doesn't run nearly as fast. The Android phone is way more customizable than the iPhone
  14. When I was looking into getting a smart/superphone I saw a Galaxy S Slide that has a keyboard built in. When I went to Best Buy they said it didn't sell well at all. The appetite for actual keyboards isn't really there for the masses. I actually read that the first BB10 phone (if they ever come out) won't have a real keyboard. My GS2 has a force-feedback typing so when I touch the button the phone vibrates so it feels sort of like you actually pressed a real button. I was pleasantly surprised by the feature when I first used the phone. If you want a phone that just does e-mail well then by all means BB is for you. But the vast majority of people want a phone that does many many things. A phone that surfs the web, plays music, allows you to watch TV, acts as a GPS. You can use it as a flashlight, compass, level, It can identify music and much much more. If RIM wants to go into the discount phone market and compete with phones that are cheaper and have less features like the last Nokia C3 I had before my current phone purchase then that's fine. But currently they can't come close to competing with Apple and Google.
  15. And Apple wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Microsoft. The iPhone wouldn't exist if it wasn't for RIM. General Motors wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Ford. History is full of people taking someone else's ideas and trying to make them better.
  16. I have a Galaxy. It does everything an iphone does but better. Thats why Samsung is beating Apple in sales for superphones.
  17. Well the largest sports network in Canada seems to value Bob McKenzie's opinion on Hockey and have for awhile. He must know something. If it was only people that played that knew anything why don't they just hire former athletes 100% of the time? Most broadcasting is a combination of both. Jordan and Gretzky were the best in their respective sports but have proven to be horrible coaches and/or owners/execs of teams. Gretz was bought out of Phoenix and Jordan owns statstically one of the worst NBA team in history. In Football Bill Bellichek is perhaps the best coach in the game today, I don't think he ever played. Many of the coaches never played. Some like, Jim Harbaugh, did. I've heard that the best former players make horrible coaches while mediocre/average players can make great coaches. Then again Drew Brees probably would make a fantastic coach. There are no solid rules regarding these things.
  18. Oh yeah I forgot, Christiano Ronaldo David Beckham is a model of intellectualism.
  19. Well that shows a fantastic amount of ignorance! In the US the best athletes play football. Just like the best Canadian athletes play hockey, just like the best athletes in Jamaica do track and field. And just like the best Athletes in Europe and Latin America play Soccer. It requires no athletic skill to throw a ball 50 yards to a receiver while the Defense is trying to crush you? It requires no athletic skill to run 40 yards in less than 4.5 seconds? It requires no athletic skill to kick a ball 50+ yards between goal posts? The best athletes in the US play Football and Basketball. The reason they don't do so well in Soccer isn't because Americans aren't athletic, it's because they play different sports. Ditto in Canada, lots of people may play soccer but the best athletes play hockey because it's the easiest way for a phenomenal Canadian athlete to become a millionaire. Ever watch the Chris Rock skit where he says Lebron would be the best Hockey player? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0s3A4PNURg
  20. The Darling of Canadian business, this company is not. . . well not anymore. 5,000 jobs cut and you're delaying the only thing that'll possibly keep you afloat in BB10, Google is unvealing a new OS every 6 months. Way to not deliver for your customers. I don't give this company 2 more years to survive. http://www.torontosun.com/2012/06/28/rim-cutting-5000-jobs Who, in their right mind, would buy a Blackberry as their new phone now? Is there anything that really sets it a part from everyone else anymore? I don't think so. A Canadian success story has turned into a nightmare. Remember when the owner was going to buy a hockey team?
  21. If you live in a city and never leave it's a good deal. But the charges can rack up if you're out of an urban centre for a period of time. The texts cost money and so does using data. The long distance is cheaper than on Rogers but if you're out of area on Rogers, you can still text message and use data at no extra cost. One thing that's nice about WIND is that if you're from Toronto but have to go to Vancouver, you can use your phone like you're at home. No long distance, no roaming.
  22. It's comically large for a phone. I have friends that have it. It's a good device if you use your phone a lot for work. Just got the ICS update last night for my S2.
  23. Nope never said that. A Futballer like Ronaldo or Messi are fantastic athletes. And when I have a rooting interest I can watch a full Soccer match no problem. But to tell someone that doesn't like the sport that they just don't understand it is condescending and ignorant. It's like telling someone that doesn't like Game of Thrones they just doesn't understand it. I've tried to play soccer and I'm horrible at it, but there are other sports I'm pretty good at.
  24. Oh so not only those that played the sport, only those that had played the sport at a "high" level can any relevant opinion on the sport. BTW who cares if you understand soccer? It doesn't take an expert on the sport to be bored to tears and the last two nil-nil games at the Euro that were decided by penalties.
  25. Just when you thought this story couldn't get anymore hilariously sad. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1218387--tdsb-workers-given-253-000-in-gift-cards-by-union http://www.mbpgsu.ca/mbpblog/files/2010/12/facepalm-500x400.jpg People on the left wonder why the public rages against any proposed tax hike? It's because these people are wasting our money!!!
