  1. If a Conservative Staffer started up a Twitter Account called TommyLeaks talking about this issue then it'd be an apples to apples comparison. If the Toronto Star or the CBC found that Rob Ford or Stephen Harper's property was overleveraged they'd have gone to press about it.
  2. So who are those unions supporting now?
  3. Yeah because big unions don't back Left-wing politicians or anything.
  4. Depends, McDalton was down to Tim Hudak by like 10 points in the Summer before the October election. We don't know who the Liberal leader will be or how effective a campaigner Mulclair is. Lots of variables at play. I doubt Robocall and F-35s will be as contentious in 2015 as they are now.
  5. Someone paints a portrait of the PM nude: People are too sensitive!!! It's Funny! Someone finds out the Leader of the Opposition can't pay off his mortgage after 30 years: The reporter is a hack, This is horrible treatment of a public official!
  6. Ageism FTW
  7. If the NDP had trouble finding legit people to run in Quebec. Imagine them trying to find legit people to run nationally?
  8. Yeah well clearly instead of pocketing the appreciation of his home he's been spending it. With the kind of pension he gets as an MP who needs to save? Eff RRSPs and Equity in your home!
  9. I guess it all depends on what he's refi-ing house for? paying for campaigns? buying cars? paying tuition for his kids? feeding a meth habit ? $300,000 in mortgage debt isn't much for someone with the salary of Mulclair. I'm sure his house is already worth more than that if it's in a nice area of Montreal. I actually have no clue where he lives but since the average real estate in Canada is $300,000 I'll assume he's still in good financial footing. He lives in Stornaway now anyway doesn't he? He can rent out his highly-leveraged place.
  10. It'll be interesting to see if these rule changes decimate the CPC in Atlantic Canada in 2015. Perhaps Harper should also give Atlantic Canada a more accurate representation in the house as they do in the nation's actual population. The fact PEI has four seats is wildly hilarious.
  11. Yeah I guess it boggles my mind that anyone can be over 300 lbs. Typo FTW.
  12. They are targeting people who make annual EI claims. Or 3 in 5 years to be exact. The fact that seasonal workers make up a good number of the people that do that doesn't mean that they have it in for seasonal workers.
  13. No one jumping all over the fact that he said he bailed on his pledge to lose 50 lbs by June on his radio show? His brother is succeeding but clearly making weight loss a public spectacle was a big mistake for Ford.
  14. Robin Hood is a commie. These EI changes are not an attack on the average worker. Actually for the average person that might find themselves unemployed due to a layoff this is good news. Apparently the government will help them look for a job by sending them job listings via e-mail, and in their field of work to boot. And to the fear mongers, those people won't be forced to pick apples if they are used to a job as an office worker. Though if they still can't find work after the EI runs out, that might be an option. The controversial changes are simply to target people who use EI to top up their seasonal income annually. They have no desire to look for work in the downtime so it's not insurance at all. That's not what EI should be for.
  15. So that's the answer to happiness? Some would call that racist.
  16. Again with the Scandinavia is the greatest place on Earth sentiment. If those countries were so great why don't any of the countries have more than 10 million people? You'd think their immigration would be high and people would be flocking to these places instead of shitholes like the US and Canada?
  17. You have many treasures, who did you rob for these Gypsy?
  18. Gypsies are always funny.
  19. The ability to identify trolling is weak with this one.
  20. I guess it depends on what kind of work they are willing to take. Here in the GTA you can get manual labour jobs and fast food jobs anytime. They don't pay lots but for young people who many not need to support themselves yet, it's something.
  21. Who Diane Finley?
  22. When has it been tried in the past? And which governments fell because of it? The temporary layoff question is a tough one. But that doesn't change that seasonal workers are scamming the system. If students can get summer jobs, seasonal workers can get jobs in the off time.
  23. If an employer wants employees to take a pay cut he/she doesn't need to consult EI rules to make that decision. So yeah that example is a red herring.
  24. Clearly not if you're a seasonal worker.
  25. Only if you're a perpetual user of EI will you be forced to take one of those jobs. EI isn't even 70% of your salary is it? You'd be better off taking a job at 70% of your salary than going on EI anyway. I'm guessing what happens is people work for x amount of weeks and can live of EI for the rest of the year. Of course in Ontario you wouldn't get away with this because it's a "high-employment" area.
