Well the sports are different. One is 6-6 the other is 2-2. One is on a large court and the other is on a small plot of sand. I find, when watching court volleyball, that it's all formulaic. Bump, Set, Spike, Block. At least with Beach there's a lot of improvisation going on to make it more interesting. And so what if the T'n'A is appealing.

Also, assuming your b-i-l has a Samsung Phone, the ICS upbate won't just come to you OTA. You'll have to download Kies software from the Samsung site and connect to a normal 'puter via USB. It was a bit of a pain for me to get the update. It would be similar to getting an update over iTunes however.

Depends what phone he has and what his carrier is. My GS2 got ICS in June. If it's an older phone it may not. I don't anticipate I'll get Jellybean for awhile, if ever, but if I wanted to be a rebel and root my phone I can already get the main feature that makes Jellybean worthwhile (Google Now) The control over the OS and and OTA hardware update is an advantage Apple has because it only has a handful of devices that'll receive the update. Android has a multitude of handsets from a wide variety of price ranges so it's impossible to keep them all on the latest OS. Especially since the OS is being updated frequently. But with the openness of the the software development it's easy to find Theme and Launchers that mimic most of the features of ICS are capable of. The main advantage to ICS is the ability to use NFC. (Near Field Communication) At this point, in Canada, NFC is rather useless. I haven't really found any practical reasons to have it but I know it's coming. Right now Rogers only really offers NFC for purchasing stuff on Blackberries. Might I ad no iPhone has NFC, The iPhone 5 should have it but that's really late to the game. As for Battery life. When you have a 4" or larger screen and the ability to use LTE (both things the iPhone doesn't have currently have) it does use juice a lot. There's an App called Juice Defender that really works to keep your battery life and data usage down. You can also get a better battery. Samsung phones allow you to swap batteries in and out, unlike Apple.

Sure they have the right to do what they're doing. Just sucks for all these young teachers that are coming up expecting a nice job coming out of school. Perhaps Teacher's Colleges should take less students since the demand for teachers was waned. . . Oh wait they'll never do that.

You don't always get the best equipment or training if you're from a poor nation. Many of the Canadian Athletes don't get the funding that Americans or Australians get so the medal count isn't even close. They value Olympic success more than we do. There's human skill behind an animal that wins an horse event but money always helps.

Not to mention the retirees that double-dip by collecting their pension and still do supply teaching duty.

What an effing moron! http://www.thestar.com/sports/london2012/article/1234916--london-2012-pq-links-quebec-athletes-olympic-medal-haul-to-independence-debate Yeah because those athletes received no support from the Federal government and private sponsor from elsewhere in the country or anything.

I don't actually think the McGuinty government is all that wrong here. I just enjoy seeing his allies turn on him are trying to make his life miserable. The Catholic deal made it very difficult for the other boards to make deals without concessions.

First 3 episodes of Season 5 have been terrific. It is shaping up to be a Mike vs Walt with Jesse in the middle dynamic. The writers of the show are great, they found a very creative way to get the Group back into the Meth Bidness.

I think it would be damn near impossible to enjoy every Olympic event. The beauty of the Olympics is that there's something for everyone. My wife loves the Equestrian, I love the Volleyball (Beach and Court) I was at the Gym this afternoon an Water Polo was on and I couldn't see the appeal of a sport like that. I think Weightlifting is about as dull as a sport can get but so what. Then of course you'll watch a sport if Canada or a nation of your heritage stands to win a medal even if it's boring or you find the rules dumb. I remember in the 2010 I got really interested in the Curling.

Critical thought is required to say that the only worthwhile Olympic swimming stroke is the front crawl? If my opinions are based on fantasy please cite popular sentiment that the 200m dash, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke should be removed from the Olympics. Just because you can come up with a logical argument to remove a sport or event from the Olympics doesn't mean there's an appetite for it to be removed nor does it mean it will ever be removed. Sports are removed for a variety of reasons but I've not heard anyone saying Swimming events should be cut by like 2 thirds. One could say Soccer should be removed because the best in the world aren't playing in that event, it's just a Junior tournament. You could also remove a sport because it's too regional. You should see Olympic women's hockey removed because essentially only two countries enter teams that have any shot of winning. BTW there are different forms of track in the Olympics. There's Hurdling and long-distance walking. How similar are the triple jump and the long jump should they be removed?
-
Your opinions regarding swimming and track will never happen, but like opinions everyone has them. If all strokes in swimming were the best swimmer would win in all disciplines. Micheal Phelps wouldn't have won 7 Golds, more like 14 or 21. But there are people that are strong in certain strokes. As for Track, because some special athlete wins two different races an entire event should be done away with? That's like saying either The Vault and the Floor Routine should be done away with in Gymnastics because they both involve running and doing some sort of complex flip motion. It would be far more likely for a Gymnast to win those two events as it would be for a Track athlete to win both the 100 and the 200.
-
And who trained that horse? Being an excellent rider is most definitely a difficult skill. More so, I'd say, than firing a shotgun or a bow and arrow.
-
How often has it happened that someone wins the 100 and the 200? Usain Bolt did it last Olympics and it was an incredible achievement. In 2006 Micheal Johnson won the 200 and the 400, do you think the same about that? Perhaps they should only have the 100 and the 400 Yeah because the Backstroke, Butterfly, Freestyle and Breast Stroke are all so similar. What about the Medley where you have to successfully do all the strokes in one race? I agree there are too many swimming events but if you only had one stroke you'd be done with the Swimming event in about an afternoon.

[quote name='TheNewTeddy' date='30 July 2012 - 02:25 PM' Hate Table Tennis - Anything with "Table" in it, is out in my books Beach Volleyball - Put on an effing sweater I'm honestly not sure how some of these sports on the lower half of the list have made it into the games. Beach Volleyball is one of the more popular sport, possibly because of the chicks with the bikini's. If you like Volleyball, Beach is more entertaining (IMHO) because it's just 2 on 2 so it's a lot less predictable.

It's far better than the iPhone. In fact the Galaxy S3 is currently better than what rumours say the iPhone 5 will be.
-
Yeah but they were able to halt sales of the Galaxy Tablet in the US. Apparently they won in Germany too. I'm reading up on some of Apples claims. I can think of several things Samsung Phones currently have that Apple phones don't have but they're copying Apple because it fits into one hand and has pages and apps in a grid format. It's like one maker of a Fridge suing another because the their product has a compressor and a door.
-
Waaaaaahhhhhhh Samsung is destroying us smartphone sales. Let's sue em!!!! http://www.thestar.com/business/article/1234036--apple-samsung-to-face-trial-by-jury-billions-at-stake Yes because everything Apple has developed over their tenure as a software/hardware developer has been 100% Original. Samsung just does what Apple does better. The Galaxy S2 and S3 have features that Apple users can only dream of. The iPhone is playing catch up.

I have an extended relative that lives in London and I heard it was almost impossible to get tickets. They were settling for Paralympic tickets. So yeah if I was a local and I saw all the empty seats I would be royally PO'd. I watched some of Canada's game against South Africa in Women's Soccer on Saturday. It was like watching a Tuesday Night Blue Jays game. The stadium was maybe a quarter full

I think in the grand scheme of things the taxpayer funds that go to help training athletes is peanuts. Also the buzz created by the Olympics when Canada has a successful team creates a fair bit of private wealth. Look at all the money Rogers and Bell are putting into broadcasting these games and all the advertisers that are getting behind them. Also many of these athletes have private sponsorship too.
-
By any reasonable standard, Usian Bolt's performance in 2008 was more impressive than Phelps. - 3 events entered - 3 Gold Medals - 3 World Records. And if he wins the Gold in the 100m again he'll be the person first to repeat. (ignoring Carl Lewis who won a gold in a boycotted games and lost to Ben Johnson, was awarded the Gold Medal, then had the Gold Medal stripped)

So McGuinty wants to push Gun Control.

LCBO sells alcohol to 14 year old boy wearing burka!
Boges replied to The Right One's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Well it wouldn't do away with the current LCBO system. Obviously if you want a Single-malt scotch or some Sambuca You'd still have to go to the Lickbo. We already have wine outlets in grocery stores with a limited Ontario-only wines wines. You can get better and cheaper wines at the LCBO still but the grocery outlets can be more convenient. In rural communities where it's not profitable to have an LCBO; grocery stores already offer liqour and beer, I'm told. This just means that you can get a limited supply of beer and/or wine at a wider variety of places like everyone else in the developed world has access to. And it would keep the outlet in business considering the dwindling number of people that smoke and/or get their tobacco off the reserves. -

Do you really think had the boy been wearing a ski mask he'd be treated similarly?
