  1. But that would be the goal if it was legalized. It'd be kind of annoying if I have to pay excessive tax on cigars and single malt scotch but could just grow a plant in my basement for free. I guess in theory permits would work but then you're criminalizing people that want to grow pot at home without a permit, basically making it would be like Moonshine, like I said at the beginning of this thread.
  2. But if everyone is allowed to grow their own plants, how can it possibly be regulated? That's the initial premise of this thread.
  3. I'd just like everyone to know that Toronto will be wiped off the map tomorrow due to snow.

Sorry to hear you'll be wiped out, can I have your computer?

  4. And people wonder why stores like Wal-Mart and Target are so popular. Actually no one wonders why. It's obvious.
  5. Anyone can go. But only someone with a vested interest in having a casino or not would show up. But that's besides the point. The OLG is trying to bully communities into getting these big box casinos that'll probably end up costing the province jobs, not create them.
  6. A CC surcharge would never work. No one would ever use them. I'd rather just use my debit. You get 2% cashback or some other reward but you have to pay a 2% surcharge. If I was a CC company I probably wouldn't want to be associated with such a company. I have seen companies that offer incentives to use cash, but that's different.
  7. Simple, don't accept CC's then. Don't blame the consumers for utilizing services available to them. If I really wanted said good or service, I can always use debit.
  8. Well those meetings only include people that have vested interests. They meetings have had American Casino Companies lying to people about job creation and Liberals that say a Casino will ruin the community.
  9. Not true. A bill was before the house saying that you could have a referendum before putting a Casino in but Dalton shut the Legislature down. Multiple communities have said they'd be interested in expanding existing racetracks to full-scale casinos but the OLG wants big flashy new US-run casinos to compete with the racetracks.
  10. It goes back to the days Furious George was Health Minister. Ontario is trying to go to all digital health records. We still don't have it billions of dollars later. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ontario-tories-would-scrap-ehealth-but-still-develop-electronic-medical-records/article7964329/

  13. Well CTS has been on Basic Cable in Ontario for awhile. I have Digital cable so I get just about all the channels in question.I was just countering jacee's argument that Sun shouldn't be offered on "her" dime. There are plenty of channels on basic cable people would prefer not to be on basic cable so one person's own preference can't be used to determine what should and shouldn't be on basic cable. If it's true that CBC News doesn't get automatic carriage then that claim from SUN is disingenuous. I don't see Sun claiming that anymore though. Their big push is that they're only in 4 of 10 homes.
  14. But you cool with the Christian Channel CTS being on basic cable?
  15. A deposit is a transaction just like a withdrawl.
  16. There are fees associated with cash the same as debit. If you're going to the ATM multiple times a week to get cash then might as well just use a debit card. Or use a CC where the only transaction is when you pay off the card each month
  17. There are reward cards with no annual fee. I've never been charged more for paying with credit. That's just the cost of doing business for retailers. Some restaurants might add an incentive for paying cash but adding a surplus charge for paying credit is cutting your nose to spite your face. Some places add like a 25 cent charge if you make a CC purchase of less than $5.
  18. BB will do well initially for sales as loyalists have been holding out for over a year now. There hasn't been a new BlackBerry available for awhile. Those sales will slow down when the Galaxy S4 comes out.
  19. Most purchases I make now are on a credit card. You get rewards and get 3 to 5 weeks to pay. As long as you pay your balance it's great
  20. He says that's because he was running for mayor for a bit where his limit was a lot higher.
  21. The idea of ratings is bunk anyway. They can only monitor who's watching based on people that have signed into have their viewership monitored. It's like opinion polls.
  22. Depends which you ask right. He's certainly not ruining Toronto.
  23. If you choose to pay cash for that they could charge you $5.55.
  24. Apparently you won't be able to get it anymore. There's a sentiment that having to round up is screwing people out of money. I just throw extra pennies in those charity boxes right now. I read that only 22% of purchases in Canada are made with cash. I don't think the penny will be missed.
