  1. He would have been referring to the dog treats right? I think he certainly had motivations to confront her, but there was no indication that he was going to assault her. Especially while filming. It's this unspoken racism that a Karen thinks she can call in authorities against minorities. He deserves to have the police called on him because he told her to follow the rules?
  2. Trump having a Twitter feud with Twitter is the most Meta thing ever.
  3. We also know that HDQ doesn't really work. Other drugs have shown promise and are being promoted. Why isn't Trump taking HDQ anymore?
  4. I started a thread about this
  5. I don't pay for Fox. But I do think a lot of the analysis of Fox is that it's day-to-day news is pretty good. You have responsible journalists doing good work all day. But then when you hit Prime Time you get talking heads peddling conspiracy theories. They'll openly concede they're not journalists. BTW I do watch CNN, and I can say the same thing about them. From 7-Midnight it's just talking heads bitching about Trump. Don Lemon does the same act every night.
  6. Why are you citing April job numbers when many of those businesses have already been allowed to open. Yesterday they announced that a bunch of medical businesses will be allowed to open, Chiropractors, Dentists, Physiotherapists etc. Really the only people who are sitting at home are people who do job involving large crowds gathering. This is definitely a time of economic hardship. But only after around 10 years of growth.
  7. Well Minneapolis is burning. Now all the racists can talk about the "thugs" who rioted and ignore the coldblooded murder witnessed on video.
  8. Yeah but it's no worse than the Flu.
  9. Not almost all. But a good majority. What you had in places in Europe and New York is a Healthcare system overwhelmed. Which meant preventable deaths of the public at large. Not just from COVID but from Trauma and other diseases because the system wouldn't have been able to cope. They had to triage people for death or treatment. It's nice to play the result now and say that this was only killing old people so we overreacted. I don't actually know why people use the word Quarantine. You're right, we aren't quarantining. We're trying to Social Distance and not gather in large groups, but Quarantining means not leaving your house for anything. In Canada, we only really use the term Quarantine for the 14 days they ask people returning to the country to do. In Italy and Spain, almost everyone had to Quarantine. You could only leave for food and you had to justify it to authorities.
  10. So really the only source that isn't sickeningly biased to you is Fox or comparable conservative media. Which speaks to your extreme bias. It's a built in excuse for anything that interferes with your worldview. It's all a lie anyway.
  11. No actually, we shut down society to save the rest of us. Imagine the death toll had people still been allowed to congregate in large groups.
  12. I agree, you go there to die. So why are we shocked people are dying there?
  13. I think people are now very careful when going to Grocery Stores, and very mindful of their surroundings. Can you do that at a restaurant, mall or a gym? Maybe, don't know though. This past season of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO had Larry David opening up a Coffee Shop to spite another Coffee Shop owner. Because he was a germaphobe before all this he had Purell on every table. I think that's going to be the reality of all restaurants (even the fancy ones) going forward.
  14. And because it's so late in the School year, some said that it's better to plan to start again in September. That's what Ontario did. COVID-19 or not, parents will always have a difficult balance with parenting and work. You can't rely on schools as fulltime childcare.
  15. If I end up getting it, I'll assume it was due to carelessness at a Grocery Store. But how will I ever really know.
  16. OK so you've pivoted from Trump to Trudeau. I do not support Trudeau and concede his two-faced nature. Though I will also say that Alberta going All-In with Oil was a poor decision since they find themselves held hostage by BC or US politics to get their product to market. A product that is going to see declining demands going forward. BTW Trump's International Trade tiffs have done little to help the Life of the Little Guy. He's had to bail out farmer suffering from his Tariffs.
  17. Cite other tests that can't be done. People that are 60+ or 80+ aren't members of the general public? I think you continue to ignore that mitigation measures have kept the rates/deaths down. Had the mitigations measures not been taken the death rates to the "general public" likely would have been higher. With LTC homes #StayHome literally meant being where you were the least safe. Regardless, I agree that getting COVID isn't something most people are afraid of personally. What I'm afraid of is being a carrier to at risk people I do interact with. Or people at risk that people I interact with interact with.
  18. Who thinks he's a Bond Villain trying to control the world? If you do, I bet I can guess your political leanings. https://www.cnet.com/news/over-40-of-republicans-wrongly-believe-bill-gates-will-use-covid-19-vaccines-to-track-them/
  19. Cite where I commented on Kavanaugh? I do think the whole Kavanaugh/Ford thing was a simply a Hail Mary pass to try and stop a Pro-Life Judge from being confirmed. It was a fruitless endeavour. As for Ukraine and Russia, I'll happily have those debates and have. I never once thought those issues would actually have him removed from office. But those are just rabbit holes and digressions to debate them now. Trump has a long history of being a Grifter/Con-man. To think that he's now a populist every-man is hilarious. Everything he does it to stoke an Us vs Them mentality, facts be damned. And, there's a faction that love him for it.
  20. It's not arbitrary actually. It was a delicate balance between essential and non-essential. And it was done in steps, at least in Ontario. Manufacturing and Food are Essential. Churches, Dine-in restaurants and Retail that doesn't specialize in food are not. Especially when a lot of this stuff can be delivered to your home now. This does create a loophole where Big Box stores that serve food and retail products can stay open when stores that didn't specialize in food couldn't. Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan tried to close that loophole to only allow Big Box stores like Walmart and Costco to only sell food. And that got her Gun-toting Maga-heads at the State Capitol. But that's revisionist history. Now all retail can open unless it's in a mall (in most places). Malls and large gathering places are another debate all together. I don't things like Food Courts, Restaurants, Movie Theatres, Churches or Gyms being viable for long time to come. It's sad, but it's a reality.
  21. To the morons that follow him, I'm sure this is how it seems.
  22. Schools and Daycares are places where it's impossible to Social Distance. Tough balancing act there. I think a lot of people are having to work at home because they have kids to take care. Any employer that won't allow it is an awful person.
  23. People can certainly mitigate exposure in a Grocery Store by using a mask, copious amounts of hand sanitizer and social distance. That's a lot tougher in a restaurant, movie theatre, church or sporting event.
  24. Trump fans new boogie man is China. Oh the irony that he thinks he can regulate Social Media. If he did, it would look more like China than any representative democracy. I'm sure there are many countries that would love to host a large tech company like Twitter. It's astonishing that Fans of Trump can't see how nakedly obvious his motivations are.
  25. I like to think I don't come down Black or White on anything. There are good things about SJW Online Group think, and there are bad things. I've often seen videos of people acting awfully and thought to myself, I hope Twitter gets them! But what happens when I do something that's not deemed acceptable by the same group, when does my life get ruined? These standards are often changing. There are certain homophobic slurs that have just been part of common pejorative language for much of my life. But now it's seen as highly offensive. Things change. BTW this is one of the reasons I refuse to use Twitter, it's full of people just looking to ruin lives. And in other social media sites, I only say things that I wouldn't be ashamed if everyone I knew saw. Sometimes Facebook shows you things you said in 2009. It's an exercise in embarrassment. Did I really say that?!?
