  1. I understand you what you said. It just doesn't relate to a discussion about Trump calling cities shitholes.
  2. I swear you're a bot, your default response to a discussion about inner cities and poverty is to talk about Brett Kavanah and a kid in a MAGA hat who confronted a FN person. Did this conversation break your algorithm?
  3. This post is complete conjecture.
  4. I suggest you go to someone protesting police brutality and tell them that.
  5. Yeah blame the politicians that the people vote for, not the people. Heck if they vote for Conservative, perhaps these cities will become affluent places like Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas, West Virginia, etc etc etc.
  6. And the disgust that poor people are being "victimized" in the name of social justice that's coming from the right is utterly hypocritical. Conservatives don't care about poor people in the inner city. Remember when Trump called these places shit holes? Suddenly they care about their property and rights because of a politically inconvenient movement.
  7. You can't just go out and test the public at large. People have to come to an assessment centre. And because of the invasive nature of the test, you'd really only volunteer if you suspected you may have it. But DoFo has said that anyone can get a test if they want. And testing has ramped up recently. As for contact tracing. It's tough, I think it can only really be done successfully very early in the outbreak process. My issues with how DoFo has handled this is the massive grey area we have. Public gatherings are still limited to 5 people. That makes no sense when you're allowing all private retail to open, golf courses to open, parks to open. It creates this situation where people who are dogmatic narcs about social distancing can still justify their strict protocol while the rest of people can proceed where they feel comfortable. I'm not going to avoid seeing the friends and family I've been staying away from for 2+ months but go out and play golf.
  8. And the only real way to do anything is to crack heads. How can you let peaceful protestors protest while extracting looters. Analogous to the US as an occupying force in any Middle East city where they want to keep the peace but the terrorists look exactly like every other civilian. Apparently last night the rioting was minimized. I think the protestors know that they lose the public's sympathy when private business gets destroyed.
  9. Sorry but Whitey saying it's not about racism is irrelevant. If POC feel they're unfairly targeted by the police, it's not helpful to tell them they're wrong. Don't worry that you just got pulled you over because you drive a nice car in a white neighbourhood, wasn't racist, he was just really shitty at his job. And even it it wasn't about race, protesting police abuses is a noble venture, because it happens all the time.
  10. Or allow people to travel. Not everyone in the GTA is a leper. Lots of them pay taxes to have property in said rural communities.
  11. Sure. Not sure of operating in that environment is worse or better than what we have now. Imagining having to ID everyone for every purchase. Lots of work.
  12. Cases are up the past two days slightly. Apparently this spike is related to Agricultural workers in Rural Ontario. https://www.cp24.com/news/ontario-reports-446-new-covid-19-cases-17-new-deaths-1.4965168 Still deaths and hospitalizations are steadily dropping. I think that's expected as the weather improves. I'm concerned that once we hit October and November the cases spike again. We need to be prepared so we don't have this happen again for Christmas. Because not having a Christmas retail season would be catastrophic for the economy.
  13. What if you want to pay with cash? You could do it, but I'm sure businesses aren't going to turn down a sale and enforce not serving GTA Karens that want to have Wine on a Patio. They'll take the money. It would require another level of enforcement. People are already going up to cottage country.
  14. Well it's not REALLY a decline. More of a holding pattern. Other provinces are seeing real substantive declines. But the spread isn't broad-based. As with so many other things, it's the poorer and more ethnically diverse communities that are seeing a large percentage of positive case. Probably because distancing is a lot harder when you live in such a densely populated area. The Mayor of Toronto released neighourhood statistics last week and two of the biggest areas were Scarborough and Rexdale.
  15. That's actually why he doesn't want to do it. There is no real way to prevent it. But some communities have no cases. A vast majority of Ontario's cases are coming from the GTA. So if you live in Buttfuck, Ontario you can't really take these measures seriously. Especially the limitations on public gatherings. I can, sort of, agree. But if more rural areas open up (especially restaurants) expect Citiots to migrate to your community.
  16. Sure and it's good. Again Stay at home order where geared to not having everyone get the virus at the same time, which would artificially increase mortality. I think the big issue is that DoFo wants to extend the current guidelines until July. Limited groups to 5 people just can't happen for another month. People are already having gatherings of 5 people or more just to see family and friends again.
  17. I think I made myself clear. An anti-vaxxer's opinion on this is irrelevant. I think member MH said it fine, it's clearly trolling. I often like to engage in trolling to see how crazy the posts get to keep from conceding a point. Out of curiosity.
  18. Yes, people who believe Vaccines cause autism are willfully ignorant and damaging to society. They base their opinion on a discredited Lancet article. They'd prefer we live in a society where Measles was killing more kids than any vaccine ever has.
  19. Oh the Irony of Trump's act yesterday. You have an objectively peaceful protest outside of the White House. Then Tear Gas Trump has them violently cleared out so he can lie about valuing peaceful protestors and say that this is all about Antifa. Then says he'll have the US Military restore order. THEN!!! goes to a church to hold a Bible up. Doesn't go in, doesn't pray. It was just a photo-op. He put people's lives in danger to look tough then tries to appeal to his Christian base. The level of contradiction in all of this is astonishing. Does Trump have the stomach to order the US military to shoot US civilians in US cities? That's why the US can't win wars anymore. It's easy to dominate people, but restoring order and peace, that's the difficult part.
  20. This bolded portion completely discredits everything else you post.
  21. I think that's the next step. Is this a culture war where protest needs to be stamped out? Trump wants military to take charge. I think people's comfort level with all this will then be tested. Because that's the kind of thing they do in China.
  22. See, this is why people riot and protest. The black guy always deserved it. He wasn't armed and there were four cops there. He was saying he couldn't breath. What did Breonna Taylor do to deserve death.
  23. Ahhh so protestors have to immediately disassociate themselves with rioters. Do cops have to speak out against racist murderers in their ranks to be considered not racist?
  24. Seems that these protestors are being stereotyped by the actions of a few.
  25. I like to report ad hominem attacks to admin because responding like this is so easy. It doesn't take any intellectual effort. So I try not to tell people they're idiots for believing what they do.
