It's not impossible to have a job and work hard and still believe everything you see on the CBC or CTV. There are a lot of people who don't actually think for themselves. Some of the most accomplished academics are people who learn by rote and lack the ability to disregard anything that is said to them by an authority figure, and it's actually extremely easy to manipulate people's emotions to create lasting memories and polarize their opinions. Eg, CNN can show you a crying woman, and bring up the topic of rape, and tell you that you just have to believe what she says because she's crying. Never mind that lying under oath in front of Congress is reason enough for her to be completely emotional. She doesn't have to be able to name a place that the rape happened, or even name the year that it happened. She can name witnesses that all have no recollection of her story. She can claim to have no less than 2 phobias as a result of the rape and when it's proven that she doesn't live her life like she really has those phobias people will deny the relevance of that fact. She can be caught openly lying saying things like "I was literally the only person in North America who didn't know that the Republicans offered to fly to meet me with a polygraph and my own lawyers withheld that information from me". At the end of the day, despite the fact that every single shred of actual evidence points to the fact that the accuser is a liar, and that the accused is innocent, people will remain convinced that the fact that she is crying means that he is guilty. Millions of people were completely duped by Dr Ford and CNN, just like they were duped by the CBC and CTV into believing that Duffygate was more 20 times more serious than SNC Lavscam (based on the fact that DGate was deemed to be "worthy" of three years of headline coverage while SNC LavScam was only worthy of intermittent coverage over the course of 3 months).

Gay-unfriendiness is just a bully thing. You can be a bully and like welfare cheques or you can be a bully who works hard and doesn't want to pay high taxes. Gay bashing has nothing to do with your political stripe.

"Conservatives" are the only people that actually protect anyone from anything. Liberals get useless degrees and work as baristas, living in their parents' basements, or they leech off the system long enough to get on as profs. They don't ever join the military. I don't know a single Lib voter from the military and I'm still in touch with quite a few people.

Should Don Cherry Have Been Fired?
WestCanMan replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Travel, Leisure and Sports
Trudeau constantly denigrates construction workers or Canadians in general and that son of a bitch still has a job. There's no way Don Cherry should have been fired for what he said. -

Alberta sends about $50 billion a year total to the federal government and gets less than $30B back. Between the equalization formula and all the other ways that the federal government ends up paying money that goes back to the provinces, Alberta ends up over $20B short. Quebec gets $13B from the federal government from equalization while Alberta gets zero. Then Quebec asks why they should build a pipeline when they get nothing from it? They get quite enough from it. They always have been. They buy and sell Saudi oil and then tell Alberta to F off. I'm quite happy to F off. Saying goodbye to Quebec would be like having a tumour taken off my ass. You don't seem to understand what getting ripped off feels like. This isn't an exercise in semantics.

WTH Argus? That's just a whole page of bogus CNN talking points that, if you even thought about it for a second, you'd know that they're all moronic. According to them the US is in a recession now. For starters, it's impossible to bring $400 Billion extra back into the country and not create work. People don't just put all that money into their bank accounts and watch it gain interest. People buy cars, houses, build pools, go to dinners, etc and it all expands the economy. Whatever they spend on stocks is good for the economy too. Of course the tax cuts resulted in increased economic activity. People only save about 1% of what they earn. Almost all of that money went back into circulation. The economy did take off. The Dow Jones was as high as 14,066 under GW Bush. Under Obama it got to 18,000 by Dec 1 2014 and it was still at 17,888 when Trump was elected. That's a 2 yr flatline at the end of Obama's presidency - ie it wasn't growing anymore. It's up by 10,000 points now. It's 50% higher than it has ever been. And this is happening while Trump is taking on China on trade. Obama wouldn't stand up to China in 20,000 years. If Trump only works an hour a day, as you claim, he's doing awesome. If Trudeau would stay on vacations, at the rate of $50,000 per week, we'd be further ahead.

What makes you think that Canadians would want to target children and make people suffer? WTF is wrong with you? Alberta wouldn't lose access to anything inside of Alberta, be it the oil sands, national parks, or anything else. Alberta just joined the country in 1905. There's no law that says they have to stay. The economic benefit in 2018 would be that they didn't have to send $13B to the federal government in exchange for a $200M loan. Alberta has received a total of $0 from equalization payments and sent in hundreds of billions. Quebec has received $300 billion from equalization payments. Now Quebec says F-U to a pipeline because "they don't benefit from it"? F Quebec, F Canada. Confederation has always been a raw deal for Alberta and there's more to it than just the treatment of oil and coal production.

??? Removal of regulations, trade deals with EU/NAFTA etc, protecting American industries with new tariffs on steel and aluminum, increased gas/coal/NGas production, approved pipelines, etc. Also, right at the beginning of his administration he changed tax laws so that companies with offshore billions could bring money back into the US. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-12-19/u-s-offshore-repatriated-cash-fell-almost-50-in-third-quarter It didn't bring back "trillions" but it brought back several hundreds of billions already. Across the board Trump has proven to be an extremely pro-business President, and the business climate is key to investment in the stock market. Investment in the stock market helps create jobs. If you contrast Trump's pro-business administration with Obama's pro-protest administration you can see why the economy took off like it did. If there were two Americas at the same time, one under Trump and one under Obama, which would you invest in? Would you invest in Omerica with widespread rioting, looting, arson and disrespect for the police, or Tamerica which was busy creating a pro-business environment? Easy choice imo.

One of Canada's last big oil producers leaves
WestCanMan replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Lol. Money is not important. Thanks jacee. Oil is selling under value because of our federal government, and feasibility wasn't an issue when corporations were investing their own $135 billion into the oil and gas industry. I don't even need to ask you for a cite because all your talking points are literally idiotic jacee. -
Is climate change, a major concern for Canadians ....
WestCanMan replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canadians don't give a crap about climate hyperbole from climate hypocrites. Respected, veteran meteorologists go on the record denying climate change and then the people who always lie to us (CNN, the Libs, the Dems) tell us that groups of people who would like to remain anonymous think that man-made global warming is destroying the planet. Then wealthy people with several homes on clear-cut acreages who own gas-guzzling mega-yachts fly around in their private jets pontificating to all of us lowly peons about what we need to do about climate change. Eyeball - aren't you the iconoclastic billionaire-hater and leftist who doubts the government every step of the way? Why are you bowing to the beck and call of the wealthy elite and the most corrupt governments in the western hemisphere? "Canadians have to shut down their coal-fired plants and eliminate all oil production ASAP, other countries will continue with oil production as usual, and the biggest polluters in the world will continue to massively up-scale their use of coal and oil!!!!!!" Go fish. As long as oil is being bought and sold on the world market we should be doing business just like everyone else, and we definitely shouldn't be importing oil from the middle east while we're shutting down our own oil production. People who think that Canada will be a major player in green energy solutions are just dreaming. Canada won't be producing and exporting green tech to the world any more than we're a big player in the auto, aviation, computer, or cellular phone manufacturing industries. We don't have the population base for it. Anything we invent, China will reverse engineer and sell on their own. It's what they do. You could thank Trump for being the guy that stood up to them but you won't, and when he's gone and the Dems are back in control China will be let loose. -
Marriages before the age of 18: for or against?
WestCanMan replied to mazerunner's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I'm starting to doubt if people should even be allowed to vote at 18. -
Oooh, they said lock her up. That's way more important than all those things that I listed. It seemed kind of idiotic until you explained it. It's kind of like if you tried to watch Sharknado 6 without watching Sharknado 1,2,3,4 and 5. It wouldn't make sense, right?
-
Blah, blah blah. You just replied to a litany of actual, verifiable facts with random accusations in an internet post. I could say those exact same things about anyone without any proof. Do you get how a person would think that your post was completely meaningless and devoid of worthwhile content?
-
Lol. On the surface that looks like an idiotic comment but seeing the candidates and how they are treated by the MSM it actually seems to be accurate.

I think that one of Trump’s biggest strengths is the economy. There are probably a lot of people who don’t want to vote for Trump but will hold their nose and do so for fear of what Sanders, Warren etc will do to their tax rates and the economy in general. Bloomberg already has all of those “nose held” votes in the bag. He has all the “Never Trump” votes. All the lifelong demmies. It’s like the fish jumped in the boat and he just has to hit it with the oar.

I was watching Watters' World last night on Fox News, it was one of his best ever imo. He opened with the story of Jeffrey Epstein's suicide and he was talking about how ABC quashed their story about Epstein because it didn't meet all of ABC's criteria for being verified and accurate, yet they gave the Kavanaugh story national attention and full credibility based on zero evidence and one discredited witness. Also, there's a woman who was working at CBS who was suspected of being the whistleblower (ie the person who leaked this video - at ABC they know for certain that she had accessed it from her computer at least once) and she was fired from CBS for a leak that she allegedly committed at ABC. I get that ABC and CBS don't want to have people around that leak their stories, but this isn't a story that ABC was ever going to release or they would have done it by now. In the 3 years since the story was ready to go how many young girls were forced to have sex with old pervs? Whoever leaked that story was an actual hero imo, and the kind of person that actually should be working in the MSM instead of the drooling sycophants who blindly follow Clinton stories like Russian collusion and ditch stories that could incriminate the Clintons like the Epstein story. Biden is also getting Clinton-level protection from the media. LOOK AT TRUMP!!!! DON'T LOOK HERE!!!! THERE'S NOTHING TO SEE!!!!! It turns out that the home of Burisma's Chairman/CEO was raided just days before Biden's infamous quid pro quo. That completely destroys the narrative that the investigation was over long before Biden used the full influence of the American government to get rid of Ukraine's top prosecutor and put someone "solid" in his place lol (someone who isn't investigating Burisma). The legal team that was hired by Burisma to defend them lobbied the US gov't to get rid of that prosector and then they met with the new prosecutor. The solid one. Well, he's solid but he probably has a bullet allergy or something like that.

I would hope that he has a chance to win the Dem nomination. The candidates that they have are turds at best. In ay event it will be interesting to see all of the current Dem candidates treat him like a low-down, filthy, billionaire. It will expose their utter stupidity, and show Americans exactly how dangerous it would be to have socialists run the country. The way that they try to drive Bloomberg off the stage is the exact same way that they will drive investment away from America.

One of Canada's last big oil producers leaves
WestCanMan replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
http://www.worldstopexports.com/canadas-top-exports/ There ya go jacee. Oil accounted for 22% of the value of Canada's exports in 2018, and it was only selling at 50% of it's value on a good day. That number could have easily been as high as $200 Billion. Vehicles, at #2, are HIGHLY subsidized. Aircraft? Even more than vehicles. We lose a crapload of money there. Oil is not subsidized. Foreign companies were already scheduled to invest $135 Billion when Trudeau got elected in 2015. That's 30x as much as we paid for TMX. Once you take the money from oil out of that entire equation up there, how much money is left for subsidizing the auto, aircraft, and other industries? What will happen to then once they're no longer subsidized? When the hundreds of thousands of oil workers go into the private sector or work in services industries where's the money going to come into Canada from? What will we be selling to other countries? We can't just keep getting cars and computers and cell phones from other countries if they're not buying anything from us. It doesn't work like that jacee. Our currency will be worth nothing if we don't export anything to the world. The Saudis and Iranians and everyone else will continue to profit massively from exporting oil while Canada's economy literally goes into a nosedive if we just kill off the oil sands. Your whole plan is monumentally stupid. -
IMO Bloomberg joining the race is worthy of it's own thread. Suddenly there's a Dem contender with the money run against Trump, and the fact that he's not a socialist gives the Dems some much-needed credibility because honestly, if someone came up with the idea of starting the new "American Socialist Party", literally everyone in the US would say that the Dems are already squarely in the center of that lane. The emergence of Bloomberg gives the more moderate Dem voters a chance to really get behind a vote that goes against Trump. People who grew up idolizing JFK but have j-o-bs and worked hard all of their lives can now vote for their party without voting against their own economy. Is the emergence of MB as a candidate a game changer? Does a capitalist still belong in the DNC or is he completely out of place there?

One of Canada's last big oil producers leaves
WestCanMan replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Trudeau got elected while saying that he would get TMX done, so this clearly was not a case of "There was and is no public will, no social license, no public consent for anymore pipelines in Canada". That's a lie. There will be trillions of dollars made selling oil around the world before it's phased out. You'd have to be a total moron to believe that we should leave ours in the ground while every other country on earth continues to sell oil, including Saudi Arabia and Venezuela selling oil in eastern Canada. Same lie, twice. This is the stupidest thing that you've ever said here. Ten percent of the country's GDP is going straight into the toilet. Whole communities in Alberta are built around the oil patch. People build and service wells and pipelines. There's trucking and other support services involved in shipping oil. The money that gets spent in the grocery stores and coffee shops all comes directly or indirectly from oil. Tourism isn't suddenly going to pick up in Fort Mac where oil $$$ leave off. Whole communities will just cease to exist. You live in a country where you get free medical and free education for 13 years. The $$ for that isn't coming from forestry and fishing anymore. It's not coming from mining. Agriculture money alone isn't enough to support all that. We are not a global force in manufacturing. The standard of living that you enjoy is largely dependent on oil. If you even had a clue how the global economy works you'd know that we have to have some sort of exports to back up our currency so that little millenial socialists can afford to import iphones and laptops from China. If you're a barista you can actually work for 1,000 years and not a bring $1 into the country. It's actually a net loss for our country because we import all that coffee. Being a teacher or a cop or a fireman or being in the military doesn't add to our economy either. Most of the people that you know just have jobs re-circulating money around the country. How many people do you know whose jobs actually have anything to do with bringing money back into Canada? Probably not even 5%. More of your blatant stupidity and lies, easily exposed. From Wiki: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/antifa-attack-portland-andy-ngo-portland-proud-boys-alt-right-a8981331.html There are 1,000 videos like this around. The last 3 years of Obama's presidency saw serious rioting, looting and arson on a daily basis, and mass cop-killing was a thing. We even had a violent bigot running the BLM here in Canada: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/yusra-khogali-twitter-the-star-1.3529105 In all honesty you're the only real racist here jacee. No one else has been caught making racists statements lately and just because your accusations are moronic doesn't make them any less serious. OMG, that's some funny s* right there. -
America under President Trump
WestCanMan replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
He's not an immoral liar. The immoral liars are Schiff, Pelosi, etc. After two years of Pelosi and Schiff saying that it there was more and more evidence pouring in that Trump colluded with Russia they still had zero. Trump told the truth for two years, Schiff and Pelosi lied that whole time. Who are the actual liars in that scenario Rue? _______________________ Schiff and Pelosi said that we had to believe Dr Ford's testimony but she couldn't name a place or a date and the 4 witnesses that she named said that they didn't witness anything like that. Who lied Rue? _______________ You saw Schiff's interpretation of Trump's phone call transcripts, it was a complete fabrication. To stand there in front of a camera and fabricate a serious accusation like that is the most serious form of lying possible. Even the sleazy Dems had to call that one out, and they're all lower than crap on a snake's belly. Once again, who lied? ___________________
