  1. You’re completely delusional cougar. The standard of living in Canada is quite high enough for anyone to be happy about. I have never taken that for granted, that’s why I think that it is worth protecting. And FYI I don’t get my kicks from schadenfreude, if people in China are happy that does not bother me the least little bit. Everything that you have posted here in this thread shows that you have absolutely no clue about what life is like on this planet for a lot of people, how good you personally have it, and yet somehow you know even less about the economy.
  2. Yeah Trump can’t get one word wrong or they’ll act like he nuked California.
  3. Exactly. Leftists here can't stand the thought that we can't afford mass immigration of refugees, or the thought that they might not have a great standard of living upon arrival, but all of a sudden there's something wrong if we can't live with 24 people per 3 bedroom unit. If I said that refugees should live with 24 people per condo I'd be crucified here, but now we're all supposed to live like that? And why? Dems in the states are just as stupid. "Let's have free medical for everyone, free dental, free university tuition, a guaranteed living wage for everyone and an open border." Ummmmm, to me that sounds a lot like..... free everything for anyone in the world that wants it? lol
  4. For shits and giggles, 1) what was your opinion of Barack Obama compared to Trump, and 2) can you give me some examples of how Obama's Presidency was more successful than Trump's? I can't help but think back to when a US diplomat was begging for more security in Benghazi and instead of sending more security they had their aircraft taken away. Then his embassy was attacked for hours or so before any help was sent. I can't help but think about how hatred and mistrust of the police was a major issue from day-to-day under Obama. I think of widespread rioting, looting, and arson that was going on in several cities across the country for most of 2014, all of 2015, and all of 2016. I think of how powerful islamic state became under Barack Obama - if they were considered a country they would have been one of the largest 75 or 100 countries on earth depending on which size estimate you use. I think about how racism sprung up after Obama's insinuation that the fact that Trayvon Martin was killed had everything to do with the colour of his skin. I think about how Obama stood in front of 5 dead cops in Dallas and made a martyr of their killer by linking their deaths to "centuries of slavery, racism and Jim Crowe Laws" (Democrat laws). I told my wife that was going to lead to more cop killing and 4 more were killed not long after. Baiting cops to come to a certain area where they were ambushed was a real concern at the time. It seems like right now most Americans are just working. The US is finally standing up to China on trade after decades of bending over. The rioting, looting and Arson has completely stopped. Despite the best efforts of CNN and people like Jussie Smollett - the racism revival is fading away. Islamic state is no longer a landholder. The US isn't starting up any more wars. US troop deaths are the lowest that I can remember in my lifetime. I can't think of any way that the US or the ME is worse of right now than they were under Obama so if you could enlighten me that would be great. I get that you don't personally like trump. The way he talks, his legacy of being a philanderer (like Clinton, who's widely loved and admired by Dems, and every other billionaire on earth), his secrecy regarding his personal business and taxes, his mistrust of mass immigration from terrorist hotbeds, his insistence on having a border, etc. They're all personally offensive to you. I'm more offended by our PM's actual crimes, the way that our country is being divided, the amount of debt we're creating while unemployment is rising across the prairies, the assault on our energy sector without any sort of plan for replacing those job losses, etc. I can name several ways in which our country is in an actual downward spiral but the US isn't in a state of crisis right now. So I'd love to see your list of ways that Trump's presidency is actually worse than Obama's. This should be easy.
  5. I'm not against developing other technologies at all. Being on the leading edge of technology is important. It's also important to note that at the present time things like solar panels and wind farms aren't at the point of being net contributors to the energy situation when you consider the whole process from creation, energy output, and recycling. Where I differ from some of the people here is that I'm a realist, and I understand that oil is still a hot commodity. Countries are still raking in hundreds of billions of dollars from it, and it's completely incomprehensible that we follow the Trudeauian/eyeball/cougar/EMay/Thunberg approach and just kill our cash cow while every other nation on earth is milking it for all it's worth. None of these people have a clue what kind of difference that will make to our standard of living. Our country still imports oil from the middle east. It comes through our pristine tidewater, which Alberta oil is not allowed to sail out on because geniuses like E May will have a fit, and then it goes through pipelines, which again, is too much to ask for Alberta oil. All the provinces want a share of the cash, they only want enough pipelines to make themselves happy, they're happy to buy Saudi oil at the Trudeau family's gas stations, and then all those morons are going to pile on big, bad Alberta for producing oil. LMAO. I swear it should be mandatory for people to have an iq of at least 100 in order to vote.
  6. Norwegians don't have deep water drilling rigs working in the oilsands, but keep trying.
  7. https://www.citylab.com/equity/2019/07/china-affordable-housing-migrant-workers-shanghai/593461/ Sure thing cougar. Let's live like we're in Shanghaii earning a couple bucks an hour.
  8. I'd know if I ever said something stupid because you'd agree with it.
  9. The min wage in China is less than $200 USD/month. In Shanghai it's $3/hr (USD). What are we ever going to manufacture here at a price that will compete with the cost of making the same things in China, where they have over 1.3 billion people? That's just one Asian country. There is another Asian country with over a billion and several with over $100M. Manufacturing here is never going to make us a global force. How much you value me is of no consequence, but you should think a bit more before you post things like this.
  10. If you took a second to think about this before you posted it you probably would have reconsidered. 1 Citizens in the US have "a right to bear arms" but that's a side note. 2 The second amendment is important enough to be respected. A completely unarmed populace is entirely at the mercy of the government, just like the people who were killed by communism and naziism in the middle of the 20th century. 3 Owning a firearm already is a privilege, and it's the firearms in public places that are the main danger to society but leftists are entirely against policing that threat. 4 I was in the armed forces and it only taught me how to use firearms. The forces didn't guarantee my emotional stability when I left. 5 I agree on the high-capacity magazines. 30 is a stupid number of bullets for a centerfire rifle. It's still very dangerous with 6 or 10 but you still have to reload 3 to 5 times as often. 30 is an entire classroom with no reload. There's no chance for victims to rush someone. An attacker won't be distracted counting how many bullets they have left, the answer is always "lots" if they have a 30 round mag.
  11. What a bunch of tripe. We don't have any control over whether or not shithole countries choose to be shithole countries and have civil wars or start wars with other countries. Globalization and climate change aren't acceptable reasons for mass migration. Canada is in a position to take in refugees, we just aren't in a position to have free medicare and vast social spending anymore.
  12. What percentage of our exports do you think come from oil, what % come from subsidized industries like automobiles, and what % come from highly-subsidized industries like aviation? Aside from oil & related products, Alberta and Saskatchewan also ship out a big percentage of the coal, wheat, canola oil, pork, beef, etc that come from this country. Look around your home and in your fridge and your garage and see what percentage of the electronics you buy, the produce that you eat, and the cars that you and the other people around you drive come from other countries. How do you intend to convince other countries to send those things to Canada for our Canadian dollars when we get rid of such a large percentage of our exports? You don't have a plan cougar. You have bitterness. It's not a formula for success.
  13. Lol. I'm reading your post trying to figure our if you're a vile, loathesome, conservative, nationalist, populist, global warming nazi or a left-wing snowflake that thinks our country will be fine importing all the cars we drive and every piece of technology we use and providing healthcare to millions of new immigrants once we stop exporting oil.
  14. Yeah, they need some of the deep ocean drilling rigs in Alberta.
  15. Blah blah blah. You made a racist comment weeks ago and you're still citing stats from inside of your own head to back them up. You've had ample time to trot out your bogus stats and by some great mystery you haven't been able to do so. No surprises there. FYI the addition of sandbox insults to your post doesn't count as any sort of verification here, but I understand that it is the kind of thing that makes your fellow SJRs (social justice racists) howl in approval. On the street, surrounded by Antifa losers, your M.O. of yelling serious accusations with no statistical merit which are backed by platitudes and sandbox insults, is like tot's killer. In a forum like this your racist claims are just that - racist comments. You are a racist jacee. Period. Deal with that instead of making childish accusations.
  16. Sorry Dialamah. TBH, we know people from the ME who are actually really awesome. My wife's best friend of over 20 years is from Jordan and her husband was from Lebanon. They're both Christian but they have a lot of friends here who are muslim. (One of them is an atrocious, evil dickhead who actually worked at the UN) There's a guy named "Zed" who she calls a "cousin" who's a Palestinian and he's one of the nicest guys I ever met. He's actually not caught up in the hatred and BS the way that a lot of Canadians actually are.
  17. The lane for a centrist candidate is wide open and no one wants it. Tulsi Gabbard is the closest they have and she's polling at abut 2%, plus Hillary is saying that she's a Russian asset. The Dems are pure garbage. They're not just leftists, they're majority-nutjob leftists.
  18. He won the Coach of the Year award in two of his three AHL seasons, he won the Jack Adams as coach of the year, his Broons made it to the SCF twice and won the division 4 times. Don't let your dislike of Don Cherry form your opinion of how good he was as a hockey coach.
  19. I agree that's the way it used to be, but the new crop of voters and the hyper-partisan left-wing MSM there is pushing the Dems left in a big way. It's not the party that it was when JFK was there anymore. Every Dem in contention for the nomination is trying to out-left the other on border & Middle-Eastern immigration issues. They all act like Trump is evil incarnate just because he knows what a border is and because he doesn't like mass-importing refugees from countries where there are tens of thousands of terrorists. I dislike the Dems even more than I dislike our Liberals, and our Liberals are dumber than a bag of hammers.
  20. Are you sure that you mean American or do you mean Republican? I can't imagine Obama or Clinton doing that when they were POTUS, and I know for sure that the unholy alliance of Sanders and AOC aren't waving the American flag if they win.
  21. Do you see a factual statement somewhere MH, or just a baseless, unsupported accusation from a racist? Without a pile of stats and their accurate, insightful interpretation that comment is undiluted racist tripe. Go fish. As usual.
  22. What awesome place did you leave, and how much better are the people there than Canadians?
  23. Another racist comment. You’re a hideous racist jacee, and it’s not surprising that you don’t even see it based on how seriously lacking all of your other observations are.
  24. Ooh, such a dramatic post. FYI the oilsands isn't like a big aquifer of oil down where you can just stick in a straw and suck it all out. The stampede of companies coming to invest money in the tarsands was necessary to create the technology and produce the means to provide hundreds of billions of dollars to Canada's economy. When oil was under $20 per barrel and technology wasn't where it's at today it wasn't profitable to extract it. Saskatchewan's oil reserves were barely touched. Did you think that the Alberta government should have just built up the oil patch all by themselves like some socialist hellhole? With all the modern technology of 2019 they're still only getting a small percentage of all the oil out. So who's to blame for us not getting our oil to markets where we can get more than 50% of what it's worth? Get a life. Lol, who am I kidding? Just keep smoking up.
