Time to take on far-right terrorists
WestCanMan replied to jacee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
When I say "greatest story ever told" it literally means "story", as in re-hashed story. Not "accurate historical account". I never said the virgin birth etc was gospel truth. I'm not vouching for any of it. It's a story, and some people choose to believe it, and the end result is that they're choosing a positive role model. Just like if kids choose to be fans of Wayne Gretzky or Lionel Messi instead of Clifford Olson. Does it make a difference to you what observances were originally held by pagans on those dates, or are you just trying to throw out some facts to sound intelligent? It doesn't make any difference does it RC? -

I doubt that those people know that they're testifying to mohammed being their true prophet, and that he chopped the heads off of over 500 men and forced their wives and children into rape-slavery. It makes the mosque attack look like child's play. -

It's intentionally misleading. People pretending to be Christians for the instant credibility they get aren't the same as people who actually care about the religion. If Christ didn't massacre Jews, I can't massacre Jews and call it a Christian act. It just isn't, it's my own evil act. The standard for what is and isn't a Christian act was set 2,000 years ago. I can't change that regardless of what I do. Nor can a bunch of skinheads. -

It's not "my" religion, I don't have any imaginary friends. But I am a Canadian and this country was founded on Christian principles, ideals, so I still respect the religion. I respect John A MacDonald too. I know he was a bad person by our standards, but he was good by the standards of his day and age, and an important stepping stone from a dark past into a better future. I like that our country can continue to grow and evolve, that it's not stuck in the mud - tied to a book from the deeply bigoted past. Yes, I'm aware of the greatest story ever told, and there is more than 1 previous version of a guy born to a virgin mom at that time of year etc, etc. There are lots of previous versions of him. Maybe 10? If you're a humanitarian then you should be able to appreciate what Christianity tries to get people to aspire to. People who choose to follow someone like Jesus or Buddha are at least trying. It's intended to be a behaviour modifier, and a positive one. -

A simple observation or an intentionally inaccurate comment? It's not like it was 1 sentence in an entire book. It was his whole post. -

RC you have a really pathetic, hate-fueled agenda against Christianity and you make a lot of stupid, unsubstantiated claims. Where is your proof of this? FYI, a lot of people hide behind religion, or more specifically Christianity, for credibility and to suck in sheep like a bunch of vagina-hat-wearing morons. Did you ever hear about the convict who went to a parole hearing without a bible? Me neither. Do you know what percentage of those guys reoffend, vs the percentage who ever set foot in a church on the outside? It’s not good. What makes you think that Hitler’s actions represent anyone outside of Nazi Germany in the early 40’s? Or the handful of losers that would never fit into any decent society anywhere? You could try your best to raise a million kids to be pure as the driven snow and some would kill. You could raise a million kids to be murderers and some would rather die. Religion is a behaviour modifier but it’s not perfect and it can’t always do what it’s programmers want it to. There’s a lesson to be learned from the “no true Scotsman” logical fallacy. People’s “groups” aren’t truly defined by where they live or whether or not they engage in all the local passtimes or what code they pretend to follow. They’re defined by what they do when they’re in a position of power. I could pretend to be a Buddhist or a Christian but I could never live up to the example set by Christ or Buddha. They aren’t realistic, it’s just an unachievable goal like AOC’s green plan. I’m Canadian. We fight, sometimes die, for noble causes. Our moral code is way easier to live up to than Buddha’s or Christ’s - I’d never move worms out of the way so I could dig a hole and forgiveness is beyond me. I don’t even give a crap, I don’t want to change. I understand that people like you don’t like what Canada represents, and you’re free to voice your opinion, but you’re barking up the wrong tree if you think your twisted vitriol can ever make us change our minds. We’re not as ignorant as you think. -

The “prevailing wage” just goes down when you bring in enough foreign workers. A wage is only as high as the lowest bids from potential & able workers. One unskilled immigrant won’t change anything but a whole horde will change everything. That’s why racist Dems love illegal immigration so much. I’m not talking about the goodie-goodie front men who got sucked in to joining the party or the poor saps that are voting for them. I’m talking about party backers like Soros. The real power behind the throne. Puppet masters. The kinds of people who make guys like Obama wealthy all of a sudden, despite 8 years of only making $400k. Captains of industry love a huge pool of unskilled labour for their sweatshops. They just hate it when they invest in a foreign labour market and some “asshole” like Gandhi comes along and screws everything up for them. -

They have a FB page, their profile pic looks like a loser biker gang showing off their weapons. It’s literally dream come true for people looking for pics to use for an ad about banning guns. It’s making me rethink my stance on that issue. Just kidding, I’m 50. To late to start thinking now. -

I looked at the pegida canada FB site, they seem a bit rabid to me. I agree that it's important for muslims to fit into OUR society instead of changing it to make it more like the religiously-bigoted countres of the ME, but I'm not down with people with masks and guns here either. -

You could call yourself a pacifist and start wars for fun. That doesn't make you representative of all pacifists. If someone says they're a Christian, and do the same kinds of things that Christ did, they're a Christian. There's always room for legitimate self-defence, no one will ever live up to the standard that was reputedly set by Christ or Buddha. But people who give an honest effort and come close, sure. Whatever floats your boat. -

It's completely relevant jacee. If we're talking about the hate rally that was held against muslims in this thread then we can talk about the hate rallies that were held by muslims in this thread as well. You know what kind of people are famous for banning the discussion of relevant truths don't you? The point of public discussion isn't supposed to be to promote a false narrative jacee. Go to occupy democrats if you want to post in a space where dissenting opinion is banned. It's not like there were only two terrorist attacks and one hate rally in the history of the world. It's simple: open the topic, discuss the whole topic and all of the relevant details, or don't do either if that's what you prefer. But don't try to tell people that they're not allowed to talk about relevant truths just because you don't like them. You started the thread but that doesn't make you the official lord and moderator of it. -

I switched your bullets for numbers, just for the sake of clarity. 1) Correct 2) What do you mean by "indirectly"? He made his stupid comment and it's costing us a small fortune. There's nothing indirect about it. 3) Trudeau's "policy" is to grandstand. That's it. Here's one. It's the first topic I even looked into: language requirements: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/canadian-citizenship/grant/applicants-55-years-older-applications-received-june-11-2015.html -

51 Italian children almost burned alive.
WestCanMan replied to taxme's topic in The Rest of the World
The sad thing is that if someone ever does something like that in Canada you have to pray that they don't go to jail, because they'll just get the Clifford Olsen treatment. IE - they'll get their very own RCMP special constables to keep them safe for the rest of their lives and they'll be on the internet sending freedom of information act requests to the government 24/7. Being out of prison is way more dangerous for someone like that in Canada. -

If he was successful in his attempt to murder 51 children by burning them alive he would have surpassed the Arianna Grande bomber as the most vile piece of crap to ever set foot on the planet. If he wore a maga hat this would be the biggest news event since the invention of broadcast media. -
How do you know what media/sources to trust?
WestCanMan replied to JamesHackerMP's topic in Media and Broadcasting
To be honest, I think that most people know when they're being lied to quite often, they just choose to go along with the story just like they follow along with the script in a Harry Potter movie even though they know he can't cast spells. People suspend their sense of disbelief at will, especially when they get a chance to act like SJWs when they do it. After more than 2 years of collusion investigation by Mueller, with CNN talking heads constantly going on about "impeachment just around the corner" while they were playing clips of Adam Schiff's version of "the sky is falling", Mueller finally concluded that they didn't have any evidence of Trump's team colluding with Russians despite the fact that they received several invitations from them. Now that we know Hillary already paid Russian spies for intel (through another foreign agent Christopher Steele) the fact that offers of help were coming out of the blue takes on a whole new meaning. Maybe they should have a show or two dedicated to "how did we get it so wrong, twenty times per hour, 24 hours a day, for over 800 days? That's about 380,000 times. Should we issue one apology? HAHAHAHAHAHA they either don't know or they don't care." We all saw Trump say "MS-13 are animals." We all saw Nancy Pelosi twist that into "Trump said that all immigrants are animals." We all saw what networks let that quote get out there without questioning it or correcting it. We saw the networks act like Trump was the first President to ever separate children and adults at the border. The pictures that they used when they broke the story were actually taken when Obama was Prez. That didn't stop them from running a whole "Trump is doing something unthinkable" routine on it. We all know that was bullshit. Back when Obama was still president we saw a guy go into a nightclub shouting about Allah, killing people, and they let their guests go on and on about "Republican hatred of gays" as a lead factor. Anyone who didn't know that was bullshit is a total waste of oxygen. I watched CTV show a video of Jeff Sessions saying: "I never talked to any Russian Governement officials or agents about colluding in the election" and Lisa LaFake poured on an extra-thick helping of insinuation behind her comment "but he was caught in a recording talking to a member of the Russian government". And....... they talked about....... c'mon say it....... Russian collusion? Nope. So why the insinuation? Lisa LaFake was calling comment by the Conservatives "character assassination" when they were talking about Lavscam. Really? For 3 years Duffygate was the most important thing on the planet to LaFake and the rest of the bought-and-paid-for-flunkies at CTV. Did she ever characterize a comment about Harper as an attempt at character assassination? It's a huge joke. Honestly just try to catch whomever you're watching lying to you or leading you to believe something that's completely unsupported by actual facts. On CNN they just switched from "Russian collusion" to "no less than 87 other things" before they finished with their first big lie. They didn't even apologize for 2 years of wasting everyone's time and they just went on to the next story. Shouldn't they make a few apologies? -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banu_Qurayza When you read that, keep in mind that history is written by the winners. You don't get to hear anyone else's side of this story. The nuts and bolts of this story is that, under Mohammed's command, a whole tribe of Jewish men had their heads chopped off and their wives and children were sold into slavery (and by the definition of slavery the women and children did not have the right to protect their own genitalia from their owners. IE, raping them was legal) because allegedly they had broken a pact by entering into negotiations. Different versions of the story say that at least some of the Banu Qurayza aided in the siege by the Quraysh. Let's give the benefit of the doubt and say that they all did. Thoughts? -
