  1. Why does the government closing businesses make it ok for truckers to do the same?
  2. So the truckers protesting the government closure of businesses (among other things) makes it all right for them to close businesses?
  3. Police have to tell you why you are being arrested, but there is no reading of rights while being arrested. You can retain a lawyer, but the police do not have to allow the lawyer to be present while you are being interrogated. There is no equivalent to Miranda rights in Canada.
  4. Yes, we are. Dishonesty, especially - anything that might reflect badly on this protest is not disavowed; instead, every effort is made to blame someone else. I'm sure that the vast majority of the protesters are not interested in violence, but that doesn't mean some of them didn't have guns and weren't promoting violence. I'm sure that many of the protesters were horrified to see Nazi flags in their midst; that doesn't mean that those who carried them were "plants" of some kind. Disavowing the actions of extremists is honest; blaming everyone/anyone else is dishonest.
  5. 1. Trudeau condemned the Church burners, and the Feds provided money for Church security. Local authorities would be responsible for finding and prosecuting the perpetrators. 2. I am sure there were better ways to remove the truckers than going to the extreme of invoking emergency laws; all authorities involved should have tried harder to find a less extreme solution. 3. Providing accuracy in discussion is not "making excuses".
  6. There is nothing in Canada equivalent to the American Miranda rights.
  7. When you twist what someone says, you lose. I accept your surrender.
  8. It's more than a parking violation; people are stuck in their homes and businesses have had to close as a result of all the vehicles that are parked there. "Parking violation" is deliberate understating of the issue and is dishonest. I understand the trucker's (and everyone's) frustration with mandates, but that doesn't mean I approve of the way in which these people are protesting. In the same way, Trudeau condemned the attacks on Churches, even as he said he understood the reasons why people were so angry. Misstating what he said as "oh well" is dishonest.
  9. No doubt if the churches had been occupied for several weeks there'd have been a different reaction.
  10. It's too bad that "sides" get demonized. Extremists on both sides give an excuse for the other side to point fingers and use words like racists, misogynists, commies and fascists.
  11. Bet every single one of you anti-vax are ok with laws dictating what people of faith can wear.
  12. It was to put a stop to the incessant noise from the horns.
  13. 2/3 of the country empathizes, but wants them to go home. That's support for their feelings, but not their methods.
  14. And we're tired of your sucky "sky is falling" hyperbolic, hysterical nonsense that our democracy is going going gone because you have to wear a f*cking mask for a couple of years. You don't even have to get a vaccine - you just have to accept the consequences, whether it's getting sick or losing your job. The rest of us have a right to feel safe in our country and not be held hostage in our homes by the special snowflakes that make up about 10% of the population.
  15. I have to wear a mask and can't go to nightspots. Living in a democracy gives people rights and responsibilities. Responsibilities sometimes includes experiencing discomfort and inconvenience so that others can be safer. Labelling these temporary inconveniences as "losing rights" and imagining some dire future of totalitarianism is ridiculous in the extreme. Especially when you remember that countries and regions around the world have been removing restrictions whenever possible, only tightening them again when hospitalizations go up. I hope you feel stupid as f@ck in the near future when all these "horrendous" restrictions are gone and you realize just how hysterical you are.
  16. If that's what you were saying a year ago, you were wrong. It's not quite endemic even now, but it's getting there. Why you people can't understand that things change over time is a mystery to me.
  17. So spitting at people you disagree with is acceptable in your world. Got it. BTW, spitting at people in the real world can result in assault charges.
  18. DoP spit at someone who disagreed with him, but it's the "other" side who doesn't accept different views.
  19. People who've been attacked for not being white would disagree. Hatred is a growing trend if social media is any indication.
  20. FWIW, I don't think those who oppose mandates are racist or Nazis, etc - that's just a few bad apples. I don't think they're really looking to overthrow the government, either; that seems to be a biased claim. I support their right to protest. I don't support the interruption of others' livelihood; in that way, they are hypocritical imo.
  21. 1. I don't watch any of those on a daily basis. I actually get about 80% of my current events info, here from this forum. I click on about 50% of the links I see, except for those who've often posted sources that are very easily debunked. 2. Maybe, maybe not. Could be he asked to be reassigned. Common sense doesn't assume the worst based on what could also be a coincidence. It's also not auto rejecting every fact-checking source as a Liberal mouthpiece. 3. Thanks I guess. 4. I've seen similar claims here and there. Naturally, he's going to think his method is the best, just like people who live to be 90 will claim whiskey and cigars are why they've lived so long. Both scenarios could be also attributed in large part to luck. 5. Auto-rejecting MSM is no more "thinking for oneself" than auto-rejecting everything not MSM. My philosophy is basically don't attribute to malice that would could just be stupidity or coincidental. Thanks for the respectful tone of your reply.
  22. You call other people fascists and mock them for watching MSM. Should you be treated with more respect than you show others? To the topic: I don't find any of what you claim to be true. I'm following somebody else who's stuff I enjoy reading; you just happen to be there posting your usual ....
  23. Pretty poor censorship in this country, given all the platforms you conspiracy nuts find to post on. Are you saying that Moonbox isn't entitled to express their opinion? That sounds like you're in favor of shutting down views you don't like.
  24. Qanon Universe.
  25. Sowing hate again I see. Maybe you should practice the listening you were boasting about on that other thread.
