  1. Do you know what a slave is? Essentially it's property - somebody with no rights, at the whim of their owner can be beaten or killed. Their life depends on the goodwill of their owner. (Though to give the bible credit, it offered some protections and IIRC, the possibility of freedom after a certain time.) Being in debt is not slavery. Having a job to pay those debts (or buy luxuries) is not slavery. And many people in Canada are debt-free. Renters especially have the opportunity to be debt-free.
  2. So do Conservatives.
  3. And here I thought the Old Testament no longer applied because Jesus. So if the OT still applies, why don't we have slaves, multiple wives/concubines and eat pork? Many places in the bible advocate helping the needy and poor; why would Jesus differentiate between individuals and leaders?
  4. In which case, government is the most Christian of all, as they ensure the rich(er) give to the poor.
  5. Well, that's socialism. Taxes are collected and is used to give people free stuff when it's needed. That your particular brand of Christianity doesn't believe in helping the less fortunate says a lot about the loving-kindness of the God you worship. I personally prefer the Christian God who teaches his people to help those less fortunate, not judge them as less deserving because they're poor.
  6. Did you pay for the vaccine you got?
  7. Well, I find it creepy that it's your DAUGHTER you want as your mother, not a different girl a few thousand kms away. But you do you; never any point in discussion with people who are arguing from faith rather than rationality.
  8. Didn't know that. That's what I find creepy. But let's imagine you have a daughter, which you assume is your mother reborn, but in reality it's not - either because mom went elsewhere or reincarnation isn't true. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, people don't remember their previous lives, so how much would your daughter suffer under your expectation that she be your mother reborn? People want to be seen for themselves, not the ghost of someone who's passed.
  9. I don't know if reincarnation is true or not, but I'd not have a child expecting it to be my mother's spirit. What if mom, in her wisdom, decided to reincarnate elsewhere? Also, would you abort male babies because they wouldn't be able to house your mother's spirit? Anyway, my understanding of reincarnation is that it happens immediately upon death, the spirit (or whatever) doesn't wait around for their new body. I understand you are grieving, but honestly the idea that you'd have a baby to get your mom back is a little creepy.
  10. IME, Canadians and Americans have no trouble talking. Consequently, if the US invaded Canada, it would be a civil war, yes? And, since the British and Americans both speak English, if armed forces were sent from the England into the US, that would also be civil war. Nearly every person in Europe speaks English as well as their native language; given that they can easily understand each other, any war between nation-states should be classified as a civil war. It's an interesting definition of civil war, that's for sure.
  11. Yes and head to the beach for a day of sunshine and beer!
  12. Yes, unhealthy people are more likely to die of almost anything. That doesn't mean that masks and vaccines don't work.
  13. So now you are guessing.
  14. Yes, I agree .. most people dead from Covid had comorbidities But claiming that nobody who has a healthy weight and takes a multivitamin gets seriously sick is ridiculous.
  15. Canada uses prison labour as well. And here.
  16. So, everybody who ever gets sick does so because they didn't take a multivitamin?
  17. Masks help prevent the spread of disease; nobody has claimed they stop it in it's tracks. Your logic would be like throwing out seatbelts because people can still die/get injured while wearing them.
  18. Yet, oddly, before vaccines, when mask wearing was a thing, there was almost no flu. When mask mandates were removed during times of low transmission, transmission increased. Just two weeks ago, the UK removed it's mask mandate, and now cases have skyrocketed. There've been studies showing the relative effectiveness of various masks, and turns out ... most of'em offer some protection - not for the wearer so much as those around them. Even just looking at what has happened in the real world - without any supporting studies - demonstrates that masks definitely provide some benefit. So, you are wrong. As is Goddess and the rest of you who believe anything "alternative" media tells you.
  19. I read the first 'debunk' (masks) and knew that the rest would be equally false. Time to take off the tinfoil.
  20. Which isn't Canada.
  21. Good advice. I am often bored with this forum, I have to admit - and sometimes bored enough to argue with the conservative fringe.
  22. How ungrateful you are, to ignore all the freedoms you enjoy - LIke calling Trudeau names on an online forum, or like blockading a city or bridges for a couple of weeks at a time. Would that happen in China without mass jailings and disappearing of the 'leaders' of such revolt? or Russia? Or North Korea? Give your head a shake.
  23. The only anti-Canadian rhetoric I see comes from the people who refer to Canada as an authoritarian state, a fascist state, a failure as a country. Those remarks from from people who call themselves conservative, although personally I think they're conservative extremists and not real conservatives.
  24. Conservatives voice their opinion everywhere; if they expect never to have anyone disagree with them, that's an unreasonable expectation. If they really believe in their ideology, they should be willing to express it everywhere, not deliberately create echo-chambers. I've tried a couple of conservative subreddits, and expressing any kind on non-conforming view gets one booted, no other ideas allowed apparently. But these people are die-hard Trumpsters so ... I think I'm starting to recognize real conservatives from extremists so that helps. If I happened on a moderate conservative forum, I think I'd enjoy it and probably appreciate conservative views more.
