  1. Mate, I come from a province whose resources have subsided Quebec for decades so I need no lessons there. Obviously, that’s not my point. Alberta ridings are largely decided already and Smith is unpopular in the rest of the country. Poilievre should be copying a winner like Ford in a province that matters ELECTORALLY.
  2. Poilievre should be copying and pasting from Doug Ford in style and content. Forget about Smith and Alberta. They’re irrelevant.
  3. The MAGA mob has nowhere to go. Bernier is a wasted vote. Poilievre has to roast their hero if he wants centrist voters to consider him. https://www.cbc.ca/lite/story/1.7495524
  4. ‘Canada continues current relationship with US’ can’t happen because they have gone bonkers. We shouldn’t join them in their madness.
  5. Europe was entirely different in 1914, a continent ruled by six empires that had little respect for the rights of many of their subjects, especially ethnic minorities. Today only one of those despotic governments is left - in Russia. Elsewhere, norms of civilized behaviour have moved on dramatically. Thus the French don’t have to worry that Germany will invade and Ireland can discuss its issues with Britain on an equal basis. That’s why Europe is helping Ukraine. It wants to preserve the post-WWII consensus where small nations don’t have to fear powerful neighbours.
  6. Dude, read the memo. This debate over man-made climate change is over. The fossil fuel industry knew the truth decades ago and the science is in. Now the smarter anthracophiles focus on the politics of how much carbon we can get away with burning and on what China is doing.
  7. Control? Danielle Smith is an experienced Tory politician. She should have the sense all on her own not to sabotage the federal Conservative campaign. Campaigns determine what an election is about and PP is making a hames of it so far. The public will be finding out about Shapiro PDQ when Smith appears beside him. There are hits one has to take in a campaign, eg Carney’s Brookfield, and then there are the unnecessary self-inflicted wounds. This is clearly in the latter category. The question I would ask: is it just narcissistic idiocy or is there active malice here of some weird sort?
  8. And now she’s off to Florida to appear alongside Ben Shapiro, I kid you not. Mr. Shapiro wants to annex Canada without the problem of giving us votes: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/alberta-premier-stands-by-plan-to-speak-at-u-s-fundraiser-despite-calls-to-cancel-1.7493869
  9. The attack ads write themselves. Even the Calgary Herald is unhappy: https://calgaryherald.com/news/braid-smiths-cosy-ties-in-u-s-wrecked-poilievre-campaign-opening
  10. You like Trump’s policies on Canada? We are in a national crisis that may require enormous funding to support industries under attack. There should be no tax breaks at the moment.
  11. As we can see in these very pages a lot of Canadian Tories like Trump and his policies. It’s up to PP to prove he has made the break with those people and wants to be a leader for all in this national crisis but his heart isn’t in it. He’s far more comfortable bashing Liberals.
  12. Danielle Smith must be a Liberal agent. She’s doing yeoman’s work to sink Poilievre all on her own: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/smith-response-national-criticism-1.7494395
  13. Let’s not add to the typos here: Jamieson Greer; Jeffrey Goldberg. Actor Jeffrey Goldblum has nothing to do with this story.
  14. Carney has made a lot of money serving the rich in various ‘tax-efficient’ ways. I can see that as a legit talking point for the NDP but it’s weird coming from so-called conservatives.
  15. Michael Waltz and others have been more than a little careless online: https://www.wired.com/story/michael-waltz-left-his-venmo-public/ You’d think some grim-looking chaps would arrive to go through all this with you before you did anything at US gov?
  16. This is seriously bad news for Poilievre. Once again, Trump offers a noose rather than a lifeline for his conservative comrade: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/federal-election/article-carney-calls-trumps-tariffs-on-vehicles-imported-to-us-unjustified/ https://www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/article/tariff-for-tariff-doug-ford-says-he-supports-retaliatory-tariffs-in-light-of-trumps-25-per-cent-auto-levy/
  17. Even if this were true would it be a big advantage for the Liberals? With support this soft complacency could easily creep in if people thought the party was further ahead than it was. I think most people know that polls can be wrong in close elections.
  18. Are you referring to the NP article link you posted in your reply to me? Because nearly all of it is about Carney. I don’t see Brown referenced there at all and the article does not necessarily clear Poilievre. And his reply is comparing chalk with cheese.
  19. That’s raising another accusation, not addressing the one against him.
  20. Another awkward foreign policy story for Poilievre to address. In fairness, interference of this type will be a potential challenge in every Canadian election henceforth: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-india-alleged-foreign-interference-pierre-poilievre-conservative/
  21. Good news for Poilievre.
  22. The removal of Arya seems a bit of an own goal. Normally a sacrificial lamb is rewarded for making a sacrifice like this or is going anyway.
  23. Tesla’s biggest problem is in China. Once again, the West is being overtaken. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/23/the-guardian-view-on-chinas-ev-breakthrough-helped-by-the-kind-of-strategic-state-elon-musk-despises
  24. One horrible problem with Brexit - negotiating new trade deals with large economies like the US, China, India and even the EU itself. Britain could have asked Canada on the challenges there.
