Exactly, cybercoma's conclusion is biased and ridiculous because there must be thousands of ordinary black folk who are not afraid of the police, who trust and want the police to help them. Some of them... ARE the police.

America under President Trump
OftenWrong replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Math aint that good neither. Note that 2.8 M /230 M eligible voters is just over 1 %. In the popular vote she led by a 1 % margin. You can try to make a big deal out of that tiny number while ignoring the fact that 90 M voters (~ 40%) did not vote. Bottom line: Huge numbers of people had no ethical problem voting Trump. I mean huuuuge... -
Then it will be just like the good old days before NAFTA and other international trade agreements. That is what Donald Trump said he would do, and it's what he's all about. Don't kid yourself, Trump knows what's gonna happen. In fact he's counting on it. Such trade agreements didn't exist several decades ago to the extent we have today, yet commerce still took place in those days and people lived better than they do now. Seems those trade agreements really bolster the super rich... the very people you despise. For all your "make the rich pay" banter, you fail to recognize the fact that free trade empowers the wealthy beyond their wildest dreams.

These are probably the same ones who incited violence during the election campaign, in the guise of Trump supporters. Later it was reported they were actually Hillary supporters, IE leftists, running a kind of "false flag" operation. If you think extreme right wingers are violent, you ain't seen nothin yet bub.

Well, seems the gay community had no problem with police in the parade and most likely would have been very happy to hear that the police wanted to participate. I mean, how much more of a show of support to your cause do you want? I disagree with the BLM method of threatening to blockade a peaceful parade, as they did last year, when the parade has to get licencing and organize funds to cover all sorts of cost, security etc. to me the right move is to have the cops move in on BLM if they want to put up a blockade. If anybody else did that at gay pride, they'd be billyclubbed. Instead, they conceded and gave those who threatened to disrupt what they wanted. Seems that civility, decency, fairness and rule of law and order is going out the window and it's happening at a cultural level, on both sides of the political spectrum. But really it's mainly the leftists.

Because the world is not a nice place. Bad guys will not mind their own business. Staying home wont protect you, because they'll only come to your house. You might be in your backyard one day, giving your tree a hug and them whammo...
-
Complete nonsense. The police are doing their job as demanded by the law, end of story. You perceive that some isolated incidents by bad guys is representative of the big picture, because it gets your attention. It's in the news. Meanwhile you are unaware of, or ignoring, the thousands of helpful positive incidents in which police protect us. Police unfortunately deal with the very lowest scum on earth every day, and it weighs heavy on their outlook. i can totally understand if they feel stressed and feel that there are people around who want to harm them. In the example you highlighted, the officer was not pardoned and was given a prison sentence. What more do you want? Officer loses assault appeal, led away in handcuffs The fellow was beaten up. It's not nice but seems like the sentence given the officer was adequate. Some would say he deserved clemency. Did he have prior offences? Not likely. Any civilian with no priors would be given the same leniency.

I see... so by your logic the police are murderers and people who work with small children, teachers, early childhood educators, daycare workers, are pedophiles. Sounds ridiculous... and it is.

No. I should be allowed to say something dumb, whimsical, even tell lies in public, and not be under threat of prosecution.

We will never solve these problems completely, and whenever progress is made they always find a way to creep back in, because of human greed. But it's necessary to oppose it, to try and minimize it. This is a fight that goes back centuries, and never ends. Rich people need not be seen as inherently "evil", if we make a system that ensures reasonable fairness.

Name the next CPC and NDP leaders

That is what I thought actually. The oil market is tightly regulated. I have no idea what makes @cybercoma think that. -
But that way they don't get equal crack, friend. The EC helps to ensure they do get some. Hardly anyone wants to be a fisherman or farmer. That's too much like hard work. It's a huge cultural problem. The book "Town Mouse, Country Mouse" will tell you all you need to know about this cultural dichotomy that cannot be ignored.

Yes there is. Trump economics. Such investment would take a long time before it's producing enough viable energy to meet our needs. The price for these can be expensive as well, and since they produce toxic waste and environmental regulatory requirements come into effect, also adding to the cost. The net result is that cheap oil from Saudi is still too attractive to resist. The right way is to invest in our own country in terms of actual production. Make Canada great again. -
Whatever the new system is that you propose, it must address the issue of providing meaningful representation for people across a large area. Cod fishermen on the east coast will not be subject to the whims of latte sippers in California. The idea being to protect the diverse cultures in a land. Otherwise, you ain't got a country bub.

Police showed their support for gays in Toronto by participating in the Pride parade. It was a symbol that the rights of gays would be protected, that violent forms of homophobia won't be tolerated. It wasn't too long ago that it was common for a homo to be punched out in the street, in broad daylight. Halloween night was for going gay-bashing down at St. Charles Tavern on Yonge. For the Pride organizers to make this move is an insult to police, and normal Canadians.

-> "Because Harper gutted the tax laws so corporations don't pay the taxes they use to, and now the regular joes have to start covering their tax bills hence our increased taxes." We didn't cover their tax bills. The Canadian government doesn't need MORE money, they need to be made to stop wasting it, because they have gone beyond the point where more money would be helpful. It only proves what I've said all along, the system is broken. There are all sorts of government agencies full of useless people with fake jobs. They have been entrenched in those jobs for decades, with no accountability. Incremental government bloat and inefficiency is the hallmark of leftism: "more government is good". The CRA is but one example of why we really need to "drain the swamp" in Canada as well.

Trump will be the proverbial bull in the China shop, in many ways. We need a Trump up here soon. We got a lotta swamp land in Canada. -
Seems the chivatos are watching you, and of course leftists have no problem with it. I already fill out a T4 and sign it swearing it to be the truth, and understand it is a criminal offence to make a false statement on the form. Why should anything I say online be taken as "evidence" by the CRA? I could be bullshitting people online about how much money I make, to impress somebody. Why should the CRA chivatos spend time and money to read my posts? Why are taxes out of control in this country, and the returns for paying them getting smaller and smaller? Because leftism.
