  1. She does cancer care, not Covid. And covid is about as harmful as the flu. So go get yer shots, spitzbubbie.
  2. I disagree that it is hyperbole. Having worked in it directly most of m life and my wife still does so in a hospital. She's right on the front line. It is in fact worse right now after Covid than it's ever been, though it was already in great distress before that. Covid took it a step further and yet I don't see a concerted effort to do something about it. Expensive and grossly inefficient, many die silently due to neglect. I can provide the data to prove it, but not in this thread.
  3. Agreed in principle but if a country provides MAID there are certain safeguards that need to be put in place. For someone with terminal illness it's understood. We know that sometimes people may experience a crisis and may impulsively choose to die. They can also get counselling. I look at the larger picture, is not just about the needs of the individual but also the message it sends to society. Life should be considered sacred and not disposable. There needs to be a respectful process that preserves himan dignity at all times. It's not a meat market. I contrast this with the growing attitude that persons should be given MAID instead of timely and appropriate medical treatment. Our country's health care system is a complete disaster and a failure. It (MAID) is open to being abused.
  4. Already answered three times and explained my opinion and concerns. No need to start another thread Hopefully the UK does allow for MAID but not in the way we've implemented. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Canada should take note.
  5. This jackass has opened up a hornet's nest.

Trudeau 'looking carefully' at releasing names of ex-Nazis in Canada

The problem is the fog of war creates alliances to fight an enemy, but that does not make these Ukrainian troops who fought under Nazi orders Naziss themselves.

Now, 80 years later, if you're 98 years old and caught up in that, you'd better pray they don't come for you as offering atonement for this parliament's blundering stupidity. Suck it up, ye Candians.

    1. Army Guy

      Army Guy

Fog of war...how does that even rate as an excuse...And yes it does mean that if you fought for the NAZI it does make you a NAZI...add to the fact that he was an SS dick head...then you double that up once again...They swore an oath, and became NAZI's before being allowed to wear the uniform...

Lets say for augment sake he is guilty of war crimes...are you saying he is to old to bring justice to...we just shrug our shoulders and say you got us , maybe next time...or do we send him to Poland to face justice...

And yes it all boils down to parliaments screw up, but that does not undo his crimes as a Nazi during the war...to which there is not expiration date on murder or war crimes...and yes if your one of those dick heads you should be worried, about facing a court for your crimes...thats how our laws work...

  6. The government could throw money at it, use the tax surplus they're getting to offset the cost. Increase the national debt but it can be recovered in time. If we can afford to give away billions to a war, we can afford to build housing for our own. Ironically several countries are calling to change course on immigration for exactly the reasons given in this thread. Canada's leadership quick to jump in on matters that are politically stylish but not smart enough to determine what's truly right for ourselves and our future. Or for immigrants, for that matter. This does not help them either.
  7. You seem to have a problem acknowledging the fact he was ordered to use certain langiage by the court. I know what you said MH, and that to me is veiled way of childish name calling used by intellectual cowards. I expected better from you, if not in content then at least in your intentions. At no point did I troll you for cheap "ups" from the others.
  8. My point was to show this trend in prosecuting people for saying words in other countries is also starting to happen here. The fact my example relates to wokism is what's bothering you. Are you not conpletely reading posts again before you respond and make accusations? You really need to fix that issue. I don't like to waste time repeating things I've already said, makes for a boring debate. You also referred to me as a "chud" earlier. It's childish and unhelpful. If you're going to be insulting at least do it with some wit and intelligence man. Or is that asking too much...
  9. My point stands that he was ordered not to speak those pronouns. That's a fact and that's what the thread is about. I didn't report part of anything. You want to talk about the other things he did, which I mentioned earlier anyway, go right ahead. Just don't bother me about it, it's not on topic.
  10. And as far as I can see, one should exist but not in the way we have implemented. It's not as simple as that.
  11. Yeah I saw a car pulled over to the shoulder and a guy was adding gasoline to it using a jerry can. I thought, try doing that with an EV. Old cars have a lot more room as well. Were made to be affordable, and to a certain extent serviceable by the home mechanic.
  12. As I said there were multiple breaches of the court order here, violations of privacy and yes there are bad parents in the world, of course. But that doesn't take away the fact he was ordered to use certain pronouns and not others by the court. As you know court decisions are used to set a precedent for future cases. Fortunately another judge disagreed and reduced his sentence from 6 months to 45 days. Would be interesting to hear the basis of that second judges' decision. Even if you agree with the conviction, the sentence is simply over the top. Six months is excessive, and for that we could look at sentencing of other crimes to compare. Much like the case in your opening post. We give a pass to violent repeat offenders because prisons/ courts are overflowing.
  13. Agreed it's not just about the words he used, he being a father trying to stop his kid from making a terrible mistake at a young and impressionable age. But the fact is a court ordered him to use them, or else face punishment of the law.
  14. The offense he committed breached multiple conditions set by the court. This doesn't take away the fact he was given a court order not to use improper pronouns.
  15. We can argue back and forth about which of the conditions he breached, but that doesn't take away the fact these are the conditions.
  16. "The orders instruct him ... to call A.B. by the child’s preferred name and gender pronoun" Seems clear to me. I don't know about you people.
  17. Yes I know. What was the court order he didn't follow?
  18. That he won the appeal with a different court also demonstrates the 6 month sentence was over the top.
  19. Most definitely there is a movement to do that. You've been shown links. You are entitled to find all the excuses you want to make, but that is the mentality and attitude coming out today.
  20. The Canadian military then would have a role, to defend us from ourselves.
  21. That's nice quote, "contempt of court" here is violating the courts order not to refer to the child publicly by their original birth pronouns. Six months.
  22. Nicely put there, Qwai Chang. The yuan is coming in the mail.
  23. Seems to be trendy and vogue to press charges on people who dare oppose the new mainstream obsession with gender. Father who won’t stop discussing opposition to child’s gender transition taken into custody A B.C. father who has been a vocal critic of his transgender child’s decision to pursue hormone treatment was placed in handcuffs Tuesday and remanded into custody at least until the end of the week after being rebuked by a judge for “persistently and consistently” violating court-ordered publication bans restricting what he can say about the case. There are groups calling for Children's Aid society to remove the kids from homes where parents protest and charge parents with child abuse.
  24. We don't need defence in this day and age now that we have China looking after us. And China likes it that way.
  25. On the other hand, gotta love the attention to detail...
