  1. I don't want to turn yet another thread into an Israeli one. What happened in Pakistan is just simply horrible and gut wrenching. Whenever children are executed, it demands a closer look at society and the rules we live by.
  2. Their last 10 games have been 5-4-1. Their upcoming games have Dallas: 5-4-1, Calgary: 4-6-0, Coyotes: 2-6-2 (Arizona has a hockey team ) Anaheim: 8-2-0: St Jose: 7-2-1 It looks like the strongest challenges will be against Anaheim and San Jose.
  3. I got turned on to NHL hockey after watching some Oilers games back in the 80's. I had also worked with Craig McTavish's dad at one point so for me there was a bit of a connection. I'll never forget watching those games and the magic between the players: coffey, gretzky, anderson, messier etc, it goes on and on. From that point on I was hooked and so were many other Canadian women (Coffey was pretty sweet on the eyes ). Now, however, I am a Canucks fan and looking forward to seeing what magic Linden and Desjardins can bring to the team.
  4. One solution to making society less hostile to adults with gender dysphoria is for individuals to accept the fact that surgical solutions are options for some people. Especially considering the rigorous tests/pattern of living etc they have to undertake prior to surgery. What business is it of yours to cast judgement on what type of surgery a person desires? Would you care if a woman wanted breast implants or a man wanted penile implant surgery.
  5. A former Islamist was interviewed on CNN the other night and warned that the Western society should not treat this as a one-off. The Mayor of the town where this took place called it a one-off and he warned that it is very dangerous to not take this more seriously. It was an extraordinary interview. Here is the transcript: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matthew-balan/2014/12/16/cnns-cooper-and-guest-its-dangerous-think-sydney-attack-one
  6. I can see Hudson's point. Why not the same condemnation when thousands of Palestinian children were killed by Israel forces.
  7. It does sound like they escaped. There was mention of a couple of hostage takers.
  8. Cosby = 'dirtbag'
  9. Hehe, you spoiler!
  10. Those 2 hockey games will be right up there with memories to hang on to.
  11. Sounds like Martin Place is quite a popular place with tourists and workers.
  12. The latest blog shows that: Grainy images have emerged from the Lindt cafe siege showing what appears to be the gunman wearing a black bandana emblazoned with white Arabic script, my colleague Michael Safireports. http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2014/dec/15/sydney-siege-reports-of-hostage-situation-inside-martin-place-cafe-live
  13. Canada has sent messages of support: http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2014/dec/15/sydney-siege-reports-of-hostage-situation-inside-martin-place-cafe-live
  14. This is the latest update: An unknown number of hostages are being held by at a cafe in Sydney’s CBD as heavily armed New South Wales police move into position. Some inside the cafe were apparently forced to stand at the cafe’s windows holding up a flag bearing what appears to be the Islamic creed
  15. Not sure what's happening in Australia. We see the ISIS flag being displayed and hostages hands being displayed on the front windows of a prominent cafe. Not much information being shared.
  16. If a thread is going to be locked for a day or two, I would expect it would be unlocked without me having to initiate the unlock? Since when do we have to initiate the 'unlocks'? I didn't know this.
  17. Thanks for the link. That was good!
  18. Whatever. I give up.
  19. 'The officer'. At last count, there were 4 or 5 thugs tackling him to the ground. It didn't take just one. It was a group effort to kill this man and they all should have been held accountable.
  20. They have consulted with professional investment advisors. They are not blindly entering into this endeavour.
  21. Again, you haven't walked in his shoes. Who knows how many times he has been harrassed in the past. No one here on this forum can judge the way he reacted without knowing the full history of the community police with the residents of this place.
  22. Gosh, 43 years old. What a shame. I didn't realize how young he was.
  23. And I am confident they will, but let's not tie their hands behind their back before they can demonstrate this.
  24. Um, yea, I get that. I did hold a securities license for sometime.
  25. They didn't need quick reactions. That is the point. He wasn't harming anyone. He was no threat to anyone except the ego of the cops on the beat.
