  1. I must be missing something here. By removing the barriers, are they not allowing public access to the beaches? Does this not encourage harmony between the community and FIrst Nations?
  2. Canada does not have gun violence issues (except for isolated incidences). It is difficult for the general population to get excited about gun laws. This is a non-issue.
  3. And we are to trust your connections? Please provide stats to show that 'many' teachers are earning their masters.
  4. Yes, I understand the past history with the U.S. However, I believe that perhaps today it is because we can identify more closely with them when in fact, perhaps we should focus on asian relationships.
  5. It is incredulous to the amount of posts here that have no substantiated links to support them. Why can't we work to clean that up? Having said that, I can see that MH is working to clean that up. Kudos to you Michael! This forum is losing its credibility when so many posts are simply opinions, resulting in very few responses to argue them. What is the incentive to debate them?
  6. Not everyone has access to grandma and grandpa, let's be realistic here, nor can many afford private daycare. I agree that subsidized daycare is the way to go.
  7. I would actually have to agree with this. Perhaps we have a Canada/US relations category because they are more like us? Living on the west coast, our politics/media cover much more of pacific rim developments/issues/opportunities. The U.S. is hardly discussed (except for good deals to be found south of the border)
  8. This forum is full of too many religious nutbars and whacko rightwing individuals. More diversity is needed here.
  9. I thank you for stating your stance on this forum. You are a devout evangelical Christian. I will take that into consideration whenever I read your posts.
  10. Good grief. Settle down. I'm done having kids. Don't lecture me, however, you may want to tone it down a bit when addressing couples with both working full-time trying to keep up with their mortgage payments, daycare, saving for college/university tuition. I don't think you have a grasp on the day to day costs that couples need to keep up.
  11. I have cross paths with Suzuki numerous times on the bus in Vancouver. And let's not forget that he bought the first Toyota prius in Canada.
  12. Get out of the pipeline's way? Seriously?
  13. Thank you for your open mind.
  14. protestors are young and have fire in the belly. they protest under circumstances that many of us would not do. Let's get out of their way and let them carry on. If not for them, we wouldn't have the national parks that we have now. Let's think about that for a minute.
  15. Well, protestors are protesting that exact thing, and we should all get out of their way
  16. However, there are those nasty community dwellers that have a say. Darn it all!
  17. It actually is a local issue. Hence, the protestors.
  18. If you knew as much as you say you do about domestic violence you wouldn't have stated what you have said in your previous comments. He should have been charged and served time on violent assault charges. I can say with confidence that he will commit violence against his partner again. Let's hope that she doesn't die because of his violent tendencies. If you all want stats, I can provide those. He says it won't happen again and she believes him. It is so typical of domestic violence and as I have said, your posts sweep it under the carpet.
  19. Communities have the right to determine if pipelines should flow through their communities. Nothing wrong with that. Are we at that point where we ram pipelines through communities that don't want them? Can you answer me that? I am no energy specialist but if the community of Burnaby doesn't want the pipeline, build it where a community welcomes it!
  20. Not sure how you can conclude that marches have been organized by those with their own agendas. Cynical thinking of course.
  21. Why does it need to go anywhere? Let's explore alternatives. No one seems to get that the citizens of Burnaby do not want this pipeline through their backyard.
  22. That sounds all good and dandy to someone that knows nothing about domestic violence. He will repeat his actions and unfortunately his wife is a violent domestic survivor and will support her partner because of her victimization. This is what most people don't understand. Domestic violence has many complexities and unfortunately, your posts just simply sweep them under the carpet. Good for you.
  23. The city and community of Burnaby have expressed their intolerance to Kinder Morgan building another pipeline but yet they are are still allowed to perform analysis. What has happened to the voice of communities that don't want these pipelines built within their cities? Here are some facts that are not well publicized: the pipeline would result in seven times the current number of supertankers carrying oil through Burrard Inlet the oil the new pipeline would carry is for export, not for use in Canada the new pipeline would carry unrefined bitumen – not the refined oil product carried in the current pipeline 90% of the proposed pipeline would follow a new route in Burnaby. Contrary to what Kinder Morgan says
  24. Hmmm, let's hope you aren't the one to judge the posts.
