A crowdsourcing project was undertaken this year that asked Atheists to rewrite the ten commandments. The writers of the chosen submissions split a prize of $10,000.00. Here they are: Be open-minded and be willing to alter your beliefs with new evidence. Strive to understand what is most likely to be true, not to believe what you wish to be true. The scientific method is the most reliable way of understanding the natural world. Every person has the right to control over their body. God is not necessary to be a good person or to live a full and meaningful life. Be mindful of the consequences of all your actions and recognize that you must take responsibility for them. Treat others as you would want them to treat you, and can reasonably expect them to want to be treated. Think about their perspective. We have the responsibility to consider others, including future generations. There is no one right way to live. Leave the world a better place than you found it. Can't go wrong with following these commandments.

Of course there are favourites. I have no doubt of that and it has been demonstrated over and over again.

Your responses demonstrate your disregard and insulting comments to other posters here. Why do you need to insult? Do you think your insults carry any weight with your responses and validate your responses. Quite frankly, they turn me off and probably many other posters here. Why can't you respond to a post without insults to the poster? Do you think your response will not carry enough weight without insulting the poster?

Seems the POTUS and Sony management are having a 'slight disagreement'. It will be interesting to hear if the Obama Administration responds to Sony's latest. We know that Sony's decision to pull out was purely for business decisions and had nothing to do with NK's pressure. It was actually the Cinemas who caved. I heard a good interview on CBC radio today with a President of a Film Festival here in Canada. His biggest concern is for 'future' film productions and that they could possibly be compromised. Will film makers have second thoughts about producing documentaries about China, NK, Russia and other countries that should have the light shone on their underbelly behaviours? Will they take the risk of investing millions into these productions?

That is a good point. Across the western provinces, there have been numerous arrests of members of the Mexican Cartel. Not sure why these arrests don't receive prominent exposure. But there should certainly be far greater concern about this then currently exists. La Familia gang members armed for 'human hunting,' police say - “The Family’s presence in Alberta should be of concern to Albertans,” Strang said Wednesday. “Their connection to Mexican cartels and MS-13 (also known as the Mara Salvatrucha gang) creates a linkage to violence that is incomprehensible to most.” According to ALERT, La Familia was trying to take over Alberta’s drug trade and was operating supply lines in Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Drayton Valley, Lloydminster and Red Deer.“The Mexican cartels have actually been expanding their sphere of influence now for years, heavily into Europe and North Africa – and there had been a smaller presence in Canada,” he said. How Mexico’s drug gangs set up shop in Vancouver RCMP intelligence has “established that Mexican cartel influence has increasingly affected criminal markets in Canada.” Consequently, criminal activity in Canada linked to Mexican cartels has become a national priority for the RCMP,” Cox said. The Vancouver Sun found major Vancouver cartel links in several U.S. prosecutions of Mexicans in the Sinaloa and La Familia gangs.

That is exactly my point. This is junk. Let's focus on films that provide substance and if they piss off NK, so what. At least the films provides substance and meaning and we don't need to back down. Let's take a stand and provide support to creative film makers and producers who dare to expose human degradations in NK and elsewhere around the world.

This is your response. Perhaps if you read and digest the full ramifications of this post as it relates to women, you may not have responded this way. If you can't bother to read and contemplate the entirety of the post, that is your problem. It is not mine. If you don't know what I mean, that is the fault of your comprehension skills. Not mine.

It is not possible to compare teaching in society today. No one here is comparing teaching students in an underprivileged neighbourhood to an upper class neighbourhood. An underpriviliged school has many challenges that a teacher may face that a teacher in an 'upper middle class' school does not face. A teacher from an underprivileged school sometimes acts as a counsellor, someone who is concerned with sending their students home for the weekend with enough food to get them through the weekend before Monday morning's breakfast. That is plenty of stress!

You are right. I'm just glad to know that you respond to the latest response in a thread and do not take the OP into consideration.

I like this definition of enlightened: "to remove the dimness or blindness (usually figurative) from one's eyes or heart" So for someone to say they are enlightened, is to say they have been corrected, they have opened their mind, have accepted other explanations. (been humbled)
