U.S. Whooping Cough outbreak worst in 70 years
WestCoastRunner replied to kimmy's topic in Health, Science and Technology
If you had of read the previous post regarding the mumps outbreak, you might have gained some sort of inkling. -
What was the last movie you watched?
WestCoastRunner replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Arts and Culture
I just got caught up on House of Cards in anticipation of season 3 and the hype around this series. I found the storylines somewhat farfetched, however having said that, the performances are amazing especially from Robin and Kevin. I was so disappointed to see the demise of (spoiler alert***) Doug Stamper. He was such an intriguing character, full of complexities. I am looking forward to the season 3. -
Sounds like simple blackmail to me.

Education Over Expulsion At Dalhousie
WestCoastRunner replied to Big Guy's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
This is the crux of your problem and the problem of women who have to deal with men like you, I certainly don't get why you don't get why women get upset about these fb comments. Perhaps you should twist your thinking around to the perspective of women and why women find these comments upsetting and distressful. If you can't figure that out, then you are a lost cause. Do you know what empathy means? -
Education Over Expulsion At Dalhousie

Oh really. And how do you know that besides from your opinions? Female teachers are put on trial for having sex with their minor students, why wouldn't they be held accountable for other sexualized or sexist remarks? -
U.S. Whooping Cough outbreak worst in 70 years
WestCoastRunner replied to kimmy's topic in Health, Science and Technology
It's not only celebrities. It can be tied back to religion as well. Here in BC, the Fraser Valley (bible thumping territory) had a high outbreak of measles because of the lack of immunizations. -
A few analysts have said that it is interesting, that the emergency door was found, the inflatable chute was found, the cylinder was found and the flight attendant's body, all in close proximity. It could be a sign that they tried to prepare for the crash.

For one thing, we had CNN not confirming that the plane was found, except to say that the Wall Street Journal or some other such media platform stated that.it was found. And the families were told that the plane was found on the bottom of the ocean, and yet we hear the next day that these were unconfirmed reports. It doesn't matter if you qualify what you are saying. If it's not confirmed, don't report it. Let's think about the families. Have we learned nothing from the MH370 disaster.
-
No, it's not. They should be held more accountable.
-
-
Yes, I get that. But, seriously, there should be more integrity applied to media reports. Let's confirm before we report.
-
My point was that if a depressed patient is not terminally ill, a physician is not required.
-
What's up with the conflict over crash evidence. One day we hear they found the wreckage, the next day, it's denied. It is so tragic for families to hear this. Sounds so similar to MH370. Have we not learned any lessons from MH370? Why would the media release information that the wreckage was found when in fact it wasn't? There was a report that 40 bodies were found and then it was retracted. Where is the intregrity of these reports?

Ferguson unrest
WestCoastRunner replied to Black Dog's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I get what you are insinuating and I agree that Obama is a great credible source. However, that means squat to me. If blacks wish to rise above their surroundings, let them. I'm not sure of the argument here. I haven't heard of a credible source denigrating blacks for succeeding. -

Maybe so. -

Then, we need to implement a system to weed out those people who are seeking free daycare who do not want an education. Honesty, I don't see this as being a major problem. -

Are you kidding me? Free daycare goes a long way towards help for single parent individuals who are trying to obtain post-secondary education. -

Great real. You are totally unrealistic. To allow for 4th year graduate students of a dental program, a mere few months away from treating female patients, give me a break! -
Who pays for post secondary education?
WestCoastRunner replied to John's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
You seem to think that single parents have no problem with the current system and that is unfair. It's not what I think, it's what single parents think. I agree that they need help and the dialogue should start with free daycare. -
Who pays for post secondary education?
WestCoastRunner replied to John's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Are you suggesting that a single parent should not have equal opportunity to post secondary education as a non parent student? If both students were allowed 100% funding and the single parent met those academic qualifications, what is the problem? -
Who pays for post secondary education?
WestCoastRunner replied to John's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Do you have any cites to back that up? Does a single parent make them more dumb than an individual who is not a parent? Why on earth would a single parent be left behind? You are judging a single parent to be not as ambitious/smart as an individual who is not a parent. Seriously? Do you know any single parents who have struggled to obtain post secondary education? A university experience should be diminished by a tiny minority? You are kidding, right? -

If the demand is qualified to academic qualifications and a single parent meets those demands, where is the problem? -

And how would they be supported directly?
