Sixteen Muslim young men jailed for terrorist activities. Young impressionable youth who followed the path of an angry 43 year old adult who's anger has convinced these young men to follow his interpretation of "God's word". How were these young men manipulated to believe that their religion's message was to kill and destroy. Where was the imam's message of peace and love that the Islam religion supposedly preaches? What had happened to convince these young men that these terrorist events were necessary? Were their family life so dysfunctional and without love that the obsession to commit killing was justified? Why has the Western culture that brought their parents here not appealing to their needs. What was missing in their lives? Is their understanding of Islam naive and immature? Why do they believe that their God requires death and suicide? God and the young soul, misunderstood?

Is it global warming or an ice age?
Canuck E Stan replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in The Rest of the World
Scientists say Arctic once was tropical Maybe Al Gore was right, but put the blame on the right people. Fred Flinstone and Barney were the cause of global warming with their foot pedal cars and greenhouse gas lifestyle. Damn that Flinstone. -
Budget passed without opposition We've heard how the NDP and Liberals were against the budget, but this? I guess the Liberals have been out of touch with being the opposition they have forgotten what you're supposed to do when you oppose the government

More fun watching the Liberal party implode and implode, and implode somemore.Liberals are imploding just like the Black hole in space, and probably going to be out there just as long. -

On seeing Margaret Sinclair-Trudeau-Kemper lately doing her "I had bi-polar disorder" in the news a few weeks back,I had to question why she was using "Trudeau" as her name and not her maiden name, or Kemper. Having five kids(three with Trudeau and two with Kemper) I thought it was rather unfair for the "Kemper" kids to be disassociated with "Margaret Trudeau", while her talks about bi-polar was all about her "Trudeau" days, and there was no mention of bi-polar as a "Kemper". Seems she likes the Trudeau moniker because she wants to stay in the public eye.I think she should have gone with her maiden name Sinclair. While on the subject of Trudeau's children,is his daughter(by the Newfoundland lawyer)using the Trudeau name?

That's it! I've had enough!

$982,400,000 was spent by taxpayers to keep CBC alive in 2005 $1,000,000,000 was spent by taxpayers to keep CBC alive in 2004 Worse sucking of tax dollars than the gun registry, and for what? There are media alternatives that DO NOT NEED TAXPAYER DOLLARS to survive, Instead they PAY TAXES to the government. This is not the 1950's,Communications and media are everywhere. What could your government do with an extra Billion a year? -
The Media's Imperfect Storm
Canuck E Stan replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not everyone thinks Harper is wrong on this press gallery fight. Levine, who wrote the 1993 book Scrum Wars: The Prime Ministers and the Media, said this about the confontation between the press gallery and the Prime Minister: -
The Media's Imperfect Storm
Canuck E Stan replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Respect has to work both ways. The media has been gang banging those they don't respect for years, by not presenting the news as it is. The media tries to creat the news instead of just reporting it. To many opinionated,so called jounalists think they and their opinions are worth something important, but in reality it's just, one person's opinion. They should get back to reporting and backing up their reporting with actual facts and cut the opinions, innuendo and association to non related stories to the story they are reporting on. People have forgotten what a true news report is. -
Disturbing organizations? Explosive? I doubt if it's true. It would have all been reported on before the last election. The Liberals themselves with all their researchers couldn't find nocrap on the conservatives. Except the famous "In our cities,in Canada" full of crap stuff.

The Liberal government for all those years in power and did-nothing about Kyoto and all the other programs that they never got beyond the talk, and now defend them as if they did happen. . . . . that is . . . .in-credible.

Is Calgary or Edmonton Better Place to Live?
Canuck E Stan replied to Chamuel's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Having been in Ontario most of my life, the thing that an Easterner first notices about Albertans is their friendliness toward each other and to strangers. Stand in a grocery line and people who don't know each other smile and chat while waiting to be seved. Looking bewildered and lost, people ask if they can help. Each area of Calgary is like a small town, each with a community or recreational centre that belongs to the community. Here neighbours get together to do things for the good of the community. People volunteer their time there, and in the whole of Calgary to help those less fortunate and in need. Volunteering is part of most Calgarians life style, either for those in need, sports,or just to help in events.Everyone volunteers their time as well as money to some cause. Schools give the kids time off for community involvement and I believe community involvement is actually part of the education system. It's a whole different mind set from back east.People care for one another and it is part of being in the city. It's not flaunted,it's just part of living in the city. Events are family oriented and allow for families to take part in events all year round, cost is minimal. A great place to raise a family with lots to do in a great variety of interests. Calgary, and I'm sure Edmonton is the same, big cities that feel like small towns, and it's not phony,it really feels small town. In Alberta people care about other people , their community and their city. Unless you spend a reasonable amount of time here, you'll never reallly know how absolutely unique and refreshing living here is. The rest of Canada could learn from Alberta life -

Harper Withdraws nominee for Ethics Role
Canuck E Stan replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Temagami Scourge, Where in heaven's name did any poster or even Morgan himself lump ALL of these different nationalities of people together into bunch of criminals. The only poster that did that was you. Do you really think Canadians think like you wish they would? Canadians care for their fellow Canadians and what's wrong with stating the truth about criminal groups. Where's your support for bikers like the Hell's Angels? Aren't they being wrongly persecuted? Give me a break, because of this you know a criminal from a non criminal? Pretending to be some kind of street wise person only makes you look stupid and you should get your head out of your anus and look around. -
Have to disagree with you.Investing in something the Navy could really use,.."Ice-breakers" would show a presence in the Artic.A sub that will constantly have to be repaired and has seen dry dock for 15 years and is rotting away at that will never "show a presence in the Artic".Another "moneypit" won't do anything to show anything.GPS systems would be cheaper and better planes would "Show a presence" quicker than an oboslete sub.
-
Scuttling them now would serve a great purpose. It would stop anymore money being spent on something that will never be seaworthy.Cut the loses and look to building something the Navy could really use.Subs are just plain obsolete in today's world.Send them to the Liberal Lost Moneypit Museum.

Rae compares Bush-Harper to Hitler-Chamberlain.
Canuck E Stan replied to shoop's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Firstly I doubt if Rae would be chosen leader of the Liberals. But if by change it did happen, I doubt there is anywhere in Ontario where Bobbo could get enough votes to represent anyone as an MP. Maybe this could be Belinda's out by being the ultimate martyr of the Liberals and give up her seat. Where would Rae get enough votes to go to Ottawa? -
And what happens when everyone wants to spend their money on the same issue? What happens to the issues that get left behind without any financial support? What happens to those that need help in other areas when there is no help from others or money for their causes?

Is Calgary or Edmonton Better Place to Live?
Canuck E Stan replied to Chamuel's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
That's only true from the end of June to the middle of August, then Edmonchuck is back to being cold and white....no wonder the Oilers are doing well, their outdoor snow/ice season is longer than their indoor ice season. Has to be the longest of any NHL team.Poor Calgary can only look at the mountains for snow, while sweating out in the spring, summer and fall sun.
