  1. Throughout the Macleans interview Harper shows how he thinks about the media. Their brief love-in during the election may have ended. Macleans
  2. stignasty, Replying to statement by the Communist Party? what's your point? Quote mark your sources. Repeating makes for poor reading. -CES
  3. ....and SPIKE two two rhymes with what? Same thing isn't it, Spike poo-poo
  4. Since the CBC seems to have a lot of dough to spend(Full page ads in all the major papers today tooting their horn about the Olympics in Italy) maybe if we........took their............and....... ....used it for......2010. Know what I mean?
  5. The beauty of not having cable tv.... is .....not having cable tv.
  6. How can you say that. Everyone wants to see another rendition of Trudeau with another look-alike actor. Everyone needs to see Mansbridge the Winnipeg Airport announcer giving his two cents worth from someplace outside Canada. More investment in every corner of the media circus to try to improve the audience numbers. CBC....Canadian But Crappy. The network in the centre of the universe(Toronto) for those who are there, and those who wiish they were there.
  7. CBC seems to think your tax dollars are worth investing in Howard Stern and Satellite radio. CBC must think Stern is a a good way to promote Canadian culture(along with ball waxing I guess.) I don't buy cable because of the crap that's shown there, why would I buy radio to listen to crap in audio No thanks.
  8. The use of "Hockey Canada" as the national team to represent Canada in the Olympics must end. A all NHL players team does not mean they are the best in Canada.
  9. That's really a good one Spar, I 'll try to stop laughing long enough to write. An Ipsos-Reid poll conducted for(drumroll here) Friends of Canadian Broadcasting. The CBC recieved the highest rating when asked the question: "I am going to read to you the names of several groups. Please tell me how much confidence or trust you personally have in each group to protect Canadian culture and identity ON TELEVISION using a scale of 1 meaning very low trust and confidence to 7 meaning very high trust and confidence.(read and randomize)" The groups that were comparied: CBC TVA(french only) CTV network(English only) Special channels like (ENglish --Much Music,TSN, The History Channel; French-Musique Plus,RDS,ou le canal D) TQS(French only) The Gobal TV Network(English only) The CRTC Consumers Group The Federal Government Your Provincial Government Telephone Companies Cable Television companies Satellite television companies What an outstanding group for comparisionof protecting culture and trust ON TELEVISION. The CRTC?,Phone companies?Special channels? ect.ect. How come we didn't get the RCMP,the military or our health care system in there too? Protecting our culture, And with our trust, In Canada, ON TELEVISION. Thanks Spar,I have to go pee now.
  10. Must of seen these polls on CBC...... of course.
  11. “Ah, yes, divorce ... from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man's genitals through his wallet.” -Robin Williams
  12. You're right about visiting a new place, Kimmy. Remember the grass always looks greener on the other side.....but you have to remember what it takes to make it green.
  13. From the Toronto Star Muslims praise Harper, MacKay Diplomacy, doing it the right way.
  14. "Stay tuned for cartoons at eleven"
  15. Unless we're talking curling, then it's got to be hurried and harder, I don't know if it has to be longer though.
  16. If the CBC was removed from government payrolls today, I think there will be enough interest to develop it into a true public broadcaster, smaller, but still a public entity. I think there appears to be interest from fans of the broadcaster to keep it going.
  17. These people are angry because they are offended. There are 1 Billion Muslims in the world. Canadian Muslims are offended, these people are your neighbours, your friends. They don't create violent acts, they are Canadians and they are angry. Can you not accept these Canadians and their displeasure of these cartoons. People around the world are angry in different ways. The editor make the decisions to print or not. Here is one editor's reason on why she didn't print the cartoons. Tasteless caricature has no place here Simple....offensive and in poor taste. Respect your fellow Canadian.
  18. Where are the pictures for this "news" item where's the media pictures?
  19. You're right there, and as for starting anything, you don't do that either(Daycare,Cutting the GST,Aboriginal poverty,etc.,ect.,) And what you do start, you never finish(Gun registry, scandals, waste, etc., etc.,)
  20. Are Canadian Muslims lunatics, because they don't like it? Why can't people respect the fact that it offends Muslims. You don't think there is anything wrong, but that's you. It offends Muslims. Not only Muslims around the world, but Muslims here in Canada. How can you pass judgement on what is offensive to someone else. Only they can make that judgement. And I will respect their judgement because it is their judgement, not mine. This wasn't supposedly offensive.....but fifty years later one group finally said enough is enough. Offensive
  21. When a story is pornographic in nature I don't see the newspapers or magazines printing the pictures that go with the story in the news, because it's "news". When the word FUCK is used by someone in a news story I don't see them printing the word FUCK to quote the person. Why all of a sudden is printing cartoon pictures that cause riots and death around the world a "freedom of the speech issue". Why is showing someone with his brains blown all over the place "in bad taste" or using the word FUCK in "bad taste" or a showing intercourse or nudity in "bad taste". These cartoons are in bad taste to the people who's culture says they are in bad taste. Why can't western society accept this culture's disgust of these cartoons and stop trying to instantly change these people to western thinking. The process will take time to change, why force it. Only animosity, hate, destruction and lives lost will be the outcome...and for what.....cartoons? It's not worth it.
  22. Give me a break Geoffery, you know and I know if you want to see these cartoons you don't need to see them in a newspaper. There is no reason to print them with the Internet to give you and anybody else all the cartoons you want.
  23. Read all the posts before you write,Mim as.
  24. Happens to private networks all of the time. Done with their "Significant Resources" not the taxpayers.
  25. CBC-TV takes axe to three of its prime-time series, citing low ratings Once again CBC doesn't get it right about what viewers watch."Significant Resources" gone down the tube.
