  1. What I see as an impending threat is we have a generation coming up who implicitly believe the government and their media outlets, as supreme wisdom from on high. They were born into a world of computers and internet, while I was not. And yet I have a much better sense of context and all-around historical knowledge than they do. The lost of historical knowledge, and ability to think or question authority was fundamental to implementing communism. Under its rule all prior history was re-written to portray the former state as utterly villainous, and criminal. Meanwhile it was THEY, political activists who brought communism who were criminal. Result- an even worse and more criminal society. That's why the government has to be reigned in on their power, and their ability to communicate and broadcast their propaganda has to be limited. Essentially make it illegal.

  2. With Justin Trudeau as PM Canada is certainly moving in the direction of a Communist state. We all know he has publicly stated his admiration for the Chinese dictatorship. Trudeau has started the process of disarming law abiding gun owners while ignoring gang violence. Bill C-10 and now C-36 to limit free speech on the internet are things all dictatorships engage in. Trudeau , like Joe Biden really isn't the one in actual charge, that would be the radical progressives past and present like Telford , Butts etc.

  4. Orange shirts (red power and their left wing radical supporters) in Winnipeg just brought down statues of Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Victoria and the authorities did absolutely nothing. If authorities continue to do nothing or next to nothing, they are sending a message to anarchists and lawbreakers they can do whatever they feel like with impunity in Canada.

  5. except the BLM riots resulted in far more deaths, injuries and property damage than the capitol riots and have done far more damage to the fabric of America's institutions you just can't see it, because you have partisan blinders on and only want to tunnel vision on the crimes of the right while ignoring or downplaying those of the left

  6. Incredible how authoritarian and demonic Donald Trump was. When there was a pandemic, he did not use his powers to impose restrictions on his population. He let riots happen in the streets for almost a year. Black & latino unemployment at all time lows. Gay rights activists were not targeted, and even funded more by the State. There were finally peace talks in the Middle East and in Korea.

  7. The anarchists, Marxists, and nihilists want to destroy all of that and governments are looking the other way. When Canada’s own leaders hesitate to defend her and the protections of our institutions, including public property, we’re all vulnerable. https://apple.news/AgbViqFv3Rhukuo8Ey_cPOA

  8. Today is the birth of the best country in the world. We have every reason to celebrate it even in the privacy of our homes if we wish not to risk going out or take part in parties and gatherings. We are coming out of this long pandemic, the economic outlook is much brighter and we look forward to many happy days ahead as we live in the best country in the world where people are judged by the majority based on the size of their hearts and minds rather than the color of their skin or national origin. The country where all citizens are equal before the law and individual freedoms are respected. The country where women are equal and respected by a majority and we can live in the safety of our homes not fearing the security or intelligence agents busting in and arresting innocent people because they don't agree with the ruling government. A country which is prosperous and shares the prosperity with its citizens rather than 99% of the wealth to be in the hands of 1% ruling thieves and so called ruling elite. We have had some bumpy roads in our way in the past and no one claims perfection in Canada but lets work and hope for even better Canada and that the future would be much brighter for all of us. Happy birthday Canada.

  9. One wonders how it feels to be white and poor, as a single mother perhaps, while watching how moderately wealthy black entrepreneurs help themselves to government sanctioned loans that are given out rather "liberally", but only if you have a certain amount of melanin in your skin. The loan is based on race. It perpetuates the need to perceive of an applicant to the bank along racial lines. If it were based on need, and if lots of black applicants were eligible, then I have no issue. As long as she too is eligible. As it stands now it offends my conscious. And we all know what it means when the government offends our concsiouns.

  10. What you're claiming or implying is troubling; like all right-wingers support white supremacy, or most of them do, and it contributes to the inflammation of words thrown around who do not hold the same value as say 5 years ago. Most polls show otherwise, violence is not supported in the mainstream population and History has shown last year the Left has been much more prone to use violence for their own gains in the past few years, and everywhere on the planet, and use the power of tech corporations to silence dissent as we can see in some what so called less democratic countries. The latter point is in my opinion the most violent thing all political sides confounded did. It will create animosity to silence speech on a side. Especially if you don't give valid reasons for said censorship. Censoring the news that the SARS-COV-2 virus might come from a Chinese Lab as a 'Conspiracy theory', and then uncensoring it when only Joe Biden and the Democrats now investigate on that idea is very dangerous.

  11. They don't care; these violent groups and folks are justified because the left exists. Pointless argument, you may as well try to have a conversation with dirt.

  12. The responsibility depends on the angle you take it. From the point of view (action -> consequence -> punishment), a child shouldn't be responsible of the actions of its father. However, when one of your own is in trouble caused by anyone else, whether it is related to you or not, and can't make it without your help, it is your responsibility to help. That is the principle of living in the society, rather than a far west style where it is everyone for itself. If the Red River flood Winnipeg area causing huge damages, we are going to help because they are our fellows, not because we have anything to do with the flooding. If the natives are struggling with the consequences of the actions of our grandfathers, we need to help because they are our fellows, not because it was caused by our grandfathers. That notion is important to understand for both sides, the one who ask and the one who help.

  13. All that matters to leftists when they talk about Trump is their own emotions. Talking about facts to them is like talking about geometry with a snake.

  14. The major concern from law enforcement is that the FBI has become every bit as much of a political entity as the KGB ever was. Leftists love it now because they're working for the Dems, they just don't realize that once you finally achieve one-party rule there's no turning back. The idea of Hillary Clinton, AOC, or Ilhan Omar with absolute power should scare the shit out of you but for some reason you're a cheerleader for it. Even scarier is a Joe Biden puppet government, run by god only knows who.

  18. It was done for the virtue signalling. This government seeks to lick US Democrat ass whatever chance it gets. Just like the sad spectacle of Liberal leaders and mayors calling for defunding the police... in Canada! Let's have some quietly whispered discourse on that...

  21. In my opinion you rely on government to decide what people deserve, which is actually very disempowering because it takes the possibility of self-determination, let alone self-actualization, away from people. Using government policy and public money to advantage one or more groups breeds contempt, disempowers people, creates winners and losers, and makes assumptions about what some people deserve or should have over others based on immeasurable data. One only needs to look at the Indian Act and Indigenous Affairs to see how such policies play with people’s self-determination and sense of self-worth.

  22. unhelpful af I used to be on the economic left because I thought central planning was the best way to help the disadvantaged and I thought the only reason people didn't support central planning to help the disadvantaged, was because they didn't care about them just like MH thinks is the case in this thread but once it was pointed out to me that the data shows the central planning is counter-productive to helping the disadvantaged that the best way to help them was to level the playing field and maximize equality of opportunity the countries who did this the best had the most well off disadvantaged groups the economic right did in fact care about the disadvantaged but merely disagreed on the best way to help them and proposed more helpful solutions then I flipped to the economic right

  23. 1. Probably because the threat is negligible 2. Another way to look at it is that we're confident in our institutions and not afraid of protest. There was a group called "Canadian Revolution" that openly camped at the National War Memorial, harassed Jagmeet Singh and others and tried to arrest Trudeau. It only made the news when one of them went a little far and got little notice. Another example might be the alt-right posters on here who unpatriotically disparage Canada and its culture of tolerance to no end. Oh well.

  24. it's more of a Nazi thing Germany changed it's flag to a Swastika in 1935 Canada changed it's flag to a Maple Leaf in 1965 the Nazi flag has red on the outside and white in the middle the Liberal flag has red on the outside and white in the middle the swastika is black, the maple leaf is red, that's the biggest difference the Nazi's changed the flag to replace German history with revisionist history filtered through Nazi ideology the Liberals changed the flag to replace Canadian history with revisionist history filtered through Liberal ideology the Nazi's wanted to hide Nazi Germany's roots in Imperial Germany the Liberals wanted to hide Canada's roots in the British Empire

  25. the only damage done to American institutions by the capitol riots was by the overreaction of the Democrats to them the alt-right may become more dangerous than the alt-left in the future as a backlash against the danger posed by the alt-left but that is nowhere near the case right now

  26. You paint an idyllic version of Canadian politic that is comparable to paint a white horse with rainbow colors and put a groom handle on the forehead, to make it look like an unicorn. Like if the celebration is only meant when everything is just fine, or look fine. I suggest a different target. This one is for the people, not the politicians. Happy Canada day to the Canadians.
